    Q
What is the mixing ratio to use Permethrin SFR 36.8% indoors for control of fleas and ticks ?
I would just be spraying the baseboards along the edge of all the rooms in my home.
    A

Permethrin SFR 36.8% is mixed at the rate of 1 2/3 fl. oz. for each gallon of water. Prior to treatment, carpets and furniture should be vacuumed thoroughly and vacuum cleaner bag discarded in an outdoor trash container. Evenly apply a direct spray as a spot treatment to infested areas such as crawlspaces, rugs, carpets, pet beds and other pet resting areas. Do not wet or soak. For crawlspace applications, the applicator must wear a respirator recommended by NIOSH for filtering spray mists and organic vapors. When treating upholstered furniture take care to treat between and under cushions. Pay particular attention to areas which are frequented by pets. Old pet bedding should be replaced with clean, fresh bedding after treatment. To control the source of flea infestations, pets inhabiting the treated premises should be treated with a flea control product registered for application to animals.

  • Asked by Adam from Wisconsin

    Q
How does Permethrin SFR 36.8% compare to Bifen XTS?
Looks like it's used to kill same insects; just curious how it compares. I'm very happy with Bifen product but always looking for 5e next best thing. Thanks
    A

Permethrin SFR 36.8% is labelled for many of the same insects as Bifen XTS and would actually be a good choice to use as a rotation insecticide. Typically you will want to rotate insecticides about every 6 months to prevent any type of resistance from developing when the same active ingredient or mode of action is used for an extended amount of time.

  • Asked by Rose from Mooresville, Nc

    Q
How much Permethrin SFR 36.8% do you use for bagworm treatment on Arborvitae in NC?
This will be the third year I am trying to eliminate bagworm's on my Arborvitae. Desperate for something to work. Used Neem Oil last year and burned the plant due to heat and continued treatment. They were somewhat controlled but left alot of bags which I have been hand harvesting.
    A

You will use 0.4-0.8 oz. of Permethrin SFR per gallon of water every 21 days as necessary for bagworm control.  Keep in mind that this needs to be applied before the bags have formed.  If the bags have already formed, there is little you can do for control other than to physically remove them.

    Q
    permethrin SFR 36.8%
I was going to order Sawyer Premium insect repellant which repels insects on clothing for 6 weeks or 4-6 washes. the active ingredient is 0.05% Permethrin. So instead I don't see why this product couldn't be used at a diluted rate (and what would the amount per gallon be to dilute it? As with the other product I should be able to use it in shoes, clothes, and around the house hopefully on couches, floors, rugs furniture, right?
    A
Permethrin SFR is a different formulation than the products that are labeled for use on clothing and other surfaces and it should not be used to treat clothing or other areas not listed on the product label under any circumstances.  We have to advise to follow the instructions on the product label.  Even though the products contain the same active ingredients, the formulations are very different.  Could you tell us what you are treating and we can make a product recommendation more appropriate for your use?

Can Permethrin SFR 36.8% be added to house paint?
    Does it kill termites?
    A

Permethrin SFR cannot be added to house paint to other coatings or materials. Permethrin will kill termites on contact, but it is not recommend for treating or preventing termite infestations. Q
Can I use Suspend SC or Talstar P to treat a poultry house for lice and mites?
Does Suspend or Talstar work in killing and/or preventing lice in an outdoor chicken coup?
    A

Talstar P is not labeled for lice. Suspend SC is labeled for lice, however, it is not labeled for use inside of chicken coops.

  • Asked by Jay from Pa
    07/24/2012
    Q
Does Permethrin SFR really use 6+ oz to 1 gallon a t 2% like the label states?
also is there any downfall to using the produst at it strongest?
    A
It really does take 6 2/3 fl oz per gallon of water to make the 2% dilution ratio of Permethrin SFR. For most applications however you will only need to use the .5% dilution (1 2/3 fl oz per gallon water) for general use. The higher rate is normally used in places where folks are doing a termite treatment but cannot use a large volume of water. What will you be using the product for?
