    What does "SFR" mean?

The SFR has nothing to do with the product itself like most initials after products. It was actually added on by the creater meaning "surfactant for richard".

    Q
How much Permethrin SFR 36.8% do you use for bagworm treatment on Arborvitae in NC?
This will be the third year I am trying to eliminate bagworm's on my Arborvitae. Desperate for something to work. Used Neem Oil last year and burned the plant due to heat and continued treatment. They were somewhat controlled but left alot of bags which I have been hand harvesting.
    A

You will use 0.4-0.8 oz. of Permethrin SFR per gallon of water every 21 days as necessary for bagworm control.  Keep in mind that this needs to be applied before the bags have formed.  If the bags have already formed, there is little you can do for control other than to physically remove them.

  • Asked by Angelique from Andover, Mn

    Q
Is Permethrin SFR 36.8% effective for killing squash vine borers?
I need to know if this will kill squash vine borers.
    A

Permethrin SFR is not labeled for use on any edibles.

We would recommend using Hi-Yield Indoor/Outdoor Broad Use Insecticide. It is labeled for various insects, including squash bugs and is safe for use on listed edibles. This product does have the same active ingredient as Permethrin SFR, however, it is at a lower concentration. That product cannot be diluted down and used on edibles.

  • Asked by Bart from New Bern, Nc
    05/19/2019
    Q
Will Permethrin SFR 36.8 get rid of mole crickets and if so what is the application for a 1 acre lot?
    A

Permethrin SFR 36.8% is labeled for mole crickets. The labeled rate is 0.4 – 0.8 fl. oz. of Permethrin SFR in 4 to 25 gallons of water per 1000 square feet. Use the higher rate for fast knockdown and increased residual control. If you’re using the higher rate of 0.8 oz per 1000 sq ft, that would require 35.2 ounces for an acre.

  • Asked by Adam from Wisconsin
    06/27/2019
    Q
How does Permethrin SFR 36.8% compare to Bifen XTS?
Looks like it's used to kill same insects; just curious how it compares. I'm very happy with Bifen product but always looking for 5e next best thing. Thanks
    A

Permethrin SFR 36.8% is labelled for many of the same insects as Bifen XTS and would actually be a good choice to use as a rotation insecticide. Typically you will want to rotate insecticides about every 6 months to prevent any type of resistance from developing when the same active ingredient or mode of action is used for an extended amount of time.

    Q
Is Permethrin SFR 36.8% safe with cats and dogs in the house? Can I safely spray permethrin on carpet and furniture without harming my cat?
    A

Permethrin SFR 36.8% is pet safe if used as directed however we do advise that the active ingredient Permethrin can be extremely toxic to cats if they are exposed to areas that have not dried completely. Keep pets out of the area while treating and do not allow them to re-enter the home until the application has fully dried.

    A

You do not state exactly what type of worms you would be trying to use Permethrin SFR 36.8% to treat. This product has several pests on the label. If you happen to be speaking of things like heartworm or intestinal worms, no this product would not treat for anything like that.

  • Asked by David from Aransas Pass
    05/17/2014
    Q
How do i dilute Permethrin SFR for flea control in yard?
I'm having trouble understanding your recomendations for flea control. One part of the instructions states 1&2/3 ounces per gallon of water. Then it goes on to mention flea control for the YARD .4 to .8 ounces per gallon of water. We just sprayed our back yard for flea infestation with 1&2/3 ouncers per gallon. When would one only use .4 to .8 ounces per gallon? Would that be for subsequent monthly "maintenance" only?
    A
You can use any of the rates that you mentioned for flea control. The most common rates used for lawns would be .8 ounces per gallon. You will want to keep your grass short and target your sprays towards any area that holds moisture more than another. It can also help to use an insect growth regulator with the spray to help stop the reproductive cycle of the fleas. One of the best IGRs for this would be the NyGuard IGR which can easily be mixed and sprayed at the same time with the Permethrin to be applied at the same time.

  • Asked by Tara from Pearl River, La
    06/07/2016
    Q
Can I use Suspend SC or Talstar P to treat a poultry house for lice and mites?
Does Suspend or Talstar work in killing and/or preventing lice in an outdoor chicken coup?
    A

Talstar P is not labeled for lice. Suspend SC is labeled for lice, however, it is not labeled for use inside of chicken coops.

We would recommend using something like Permethrin SFR in the area. It is labeled for lice and mites in poultry houses. The mixing ratio is 1 2/3 fl. oz. of product per gallon of water.

  • Asked by Eric from Newton, Pa
    08/22/2015
    Q
Can I use Permethrin SFR 36.8% to control horse flies around our lawn and shrubs, similar to mosquito spraying?
    A

Permethrin SFR 36.8% is only labeled for fly control as a perimeter treatment or for animal quarters such as barns. A more appropriate product would be Talstar P. You should locate and eliminate the breeding source of the flies, since control will be very difficult relying on sprays. An easy and effective tool is the Flies Be Gone Fly Trap, which catches thousands of flies from up to 100 yards away. This trap is disposable and should be hung about 30 feet away from the house or other areas where you spend time. Please see our Flies Pest Guide for more information.
