    Q
Can Permethrin SFR 36.8% be diluted with water to soak clothes in for tick control while hiking?
Does this have any other active ingredients than permethrin?
    A
Permethrin SFR 36.8% cannot be used on clothing of any type. We do carry Tick Block which was specifically manufactured for use on clothing for tick control. While Tick Block and Permethrin SFR 36.8% share the same active ingredient the base ingredients are very different and the products are not interchangeable. Permethrin SFR 36.8% does contain inert ingredients that are privy to the manufacturer. The inert ingredient part of a product is a trade secret and not disclosed to anybody.

    Q
I live in Florida & have several large long needle pine trees in the yard. Just moved here in October 2014.
Area was totally woods. they cleared the land to build my house. The remaining pine trees have the holes bored thru the pine bark, with lose pine bark falling off. Can I have any success in treating with an insecticide?
    A
Infected trees should be cut down (before the newly hatched beetles fly out of the trees in the spring/summer) and the wood burned or chipped, while other still healthy trees should be sprayed annually to protect them. Because of the natural boring behavior of the beetle they are protected from topically applied insecticides and systemic insecticides (those injected into the tree or applied as a root drench) have proven ineffective for pine beetle infestations. Healthy trees can be protected before the beetles attack by topically spraying them with a product calledPermethrin SFR. The tree should be sprayed from the ground to 15 ft up the trunk to prevent future infestations.

    Q
Can Permethrin SFR be used with a ULV fogger?
    A

Permethrin SFR is not labeled to be used in a fogger.  Depending on where you are treating, Sector or Pyranha are two permethrin-based products that can be used in foggers.  Please refer to the product labels for correct usage instructions.

    Q
I want to mix Permethrin with mineral oil to brush on rollers of a 4 poster deer feeding station...
To help reduce tick populations in my area. What ratio should I use to achieve a 10% concentration? Thank you.
    A
Our apologies but we are not able to offer a dilution rate for getting a 10% concentration as the use you are intending is an off label usage of the Permethrin SFR and there are no instructions for mixing at that percentage on the product label.  We would recommend checking with your department of Agricultural for the best advice for controlling deer tick populations around feeding stations.

    Q
Why is this product unsafe to spray on clothes, yet you can spray it directly on dogs & horses?
Several of the answers imply this product is not safe for human skin (even after drying on clothing), but you can DIP dogs in it, and spray it directly on horses??? What exactly makes this so dangerous to humans, yet so benign to all other mammals?
    A
The formulation of Permethrin SFR is different from the products that can be used on clothing. The manufacturer did extensive testing on all of the ways this product can be used. If it is not on the label, we would not recommend using it that way. The active ingredient in the amount of solution being used on dogs and/or horses is safe per the regulations given so that is why it is labeled to be used on them.

    Q
    Dog Treatment using Permethrin SFR
Many flea and tick treatments contain 44% Permethrin that is spot treated directly to a do a dog's back. Can this be product be used full strength in the same manner? Just a very small amount as in advantix?
    A

Permethin SFR can be used on dogs for flea and tick control as directed on the product label only.   It is a concentrate that must be mixed with water first.  You will mix ¼ fl. oz. of concentrate to 1 pt. water and use 1-2 fl. oz. of dilution to spray on each animal. Spot treat back, face, legs tail and ears. If you would like to "dip" the dogs you will use ¼ fl. oz. to 1¼ gallons water and thoroughly wet the dog to the skin with sponge or rag. Let drip dry.  You can find these instructions on page 16 of the Permethrin SFR product label.

  • Asked by Larry from Chechire,ct.
    05/02/2015
    Q
What is the best mix using Permethrin SFR for tick control in lawn/garden area in oz/gal?
    A
You should use the higher usage rate of Permethrin SFR for heavy infestations, faster knockdowns and longer lasting residuals and lower usage rates for maintenance sprays. You will need to use higher volumes of water to get the product over thick, dense vegetation. If you are treating your lawn for ticks, we recommend you use the higher specified usage rate of 0.8 fl oz for 1,000 sq ft using whatever volume of water is needed. If you are treating up close to your home you are permitted to use the .5% emulsion (1 2/3 fl. oz. per gallon of water) per 1,000 sq ft as a perimeter treatment. You can also help by creating a "tick safe zone" in your yard. You should have an area that is at least 9 ft wide between your yard and any wooded area. Trim back trees to allow as much sunlight as possible into your yard. Keep grass as short. Remove as much leaf litter as possible. A clearly defined, well manicured border between your yard and any wooded areas or weedy lots will reduce the chance of ticks infesting your yard.

I am using a low pressure sprayer with Permethrin on my swine for mange, on there backs and ears,
what if some gets in there eyes, will they be ok?
    A
You should use vet approved mineral oil to coat the swines eyes prior to the permethrin appication if you anticipate the product may get into the animals eyes. This will avoid the swines eyes being irritated.

    Q
What Is The Expected Wait Time Before Permethrin Kills Fleas?
I have applied Permethrin SFR as a broadcast spray inside my home, also mixed with Archer IGR, both per their respective manufacturer's instructions. The solution was sprayed due to a flea infestation that occurred while I was away for business (it is also a 100+ yr old farm house so very susceptible to bugs etc). Are the affects to be expected immediately or after a delay? I have had great success with previous purchases from you guys and have faith this will be the same, just not sure how long I have to wait. Many thanks for your help.
    A
Depending on many factors such as insect type, etc  Permethrin SFR 36.8% can take minutes to hours to kill insects. Permethrin SFR is not labeled to be applied as a broadcast inside. You would want to use Archer mixed with a product like Onslaught labeled for broadcast. Please keep in mind that it can take at least 2 treatments to eradicate fleas. Be sure to keep up with the vacuuming too.

    Q
Can I mix Permethrin SFR 36.8% (about 8 months old) and 10% together?
I have two bottles...one is SFR 36.8 and other one is 10% (about 3 years old). Can I mix them together in an empty dried drinking water jug - gallon size?
    A
It is not recommended to mix Permethrin 36.8% and Permethrin 10% together in a water jug for storage. They should remain in their original containers at room temperature. They have a 3 year shelf life from the date of purchase if stored away from extreme temperatures.

  • Asked by Andrew from Winsted, Minnesota
    06/06/2015
    Q
If Permethrin SFR 36.8% is safe for carpets, why not clothing?
If Permethrin SFR (in a properly diluted effusion) is safe for use on carpets, why is it not safe on clothing? I walk barefoot on carpets. My children have crawled on carpets. From reading MSDSs and FDA pages on Permethrin, human contact is only hazardous prior to it drying (while a liquid or vapor). If applied to clothing that is allowed to dry fully before it is worn, where's the risk? Are your compound's inactive ingredients contact toxins, or are you simply trying to discourage a use that is not formally approved for your formulation?
    A
Permethrin SFR 36.8% is not labeled for use on clothing and is not formulated for such a use. We recommend that you contact the manufacturer for additional safety information. They can be reached at 281-892-2500 (Control Solutions).

  • Asked by Carol from Myrtle Beach. Sc.
    06/18/2015
    Q
    Does Permethrin kill yellow flies
I've been bitten 3 times and have had a bad reaction...to yellow flies.
    A
Yellow flies are a relatively new species so there is not anything labeled for it just yet and no research really as to what works for them.  Permethrin SFR may help to eliminate them as it labeled for mosquioes and flies but it is not labeled for mosquitoes around the yard. Something like Talstar P could be used and may offer some relief.  There is just not enough information available about this new pest.
