Phytophthora root rot

We have some arborvitae that our arborist said is experiencing root rot from the heavy rains last spring, which has already killed one of the many that were planted. We are attempting to save the rest of them with this product. What would be the correct mix/treatment regimen for this concern? We have about 15 trees in total showing signs of random browning/dying in areas. Thank you!

Answer:

Heritage SC Fungicide - 4 oz. is labeled for Phytophthora that causes aerial or shoot blight. You would have to make applications before the plants show any significant injury. You would apply 1.0-3.8 fl oz per 50 gallons of water every 7-28 days, so that breaks down to 0.1 - 0.38 oz per 5 gallons of water. Be sure to improve drainage in the area and use mulch to protect the plants from spores that can splash up from wet soil. This article has additional tips on preventing Phytopthora root rot.
