    Q
Will Premise penetrate wood and protect against termites?
I have been told by a pest control company that Premise will penetrate untreated wood, up to 1/8th of an inch, enhancing its exposure to termite infestations within post, beam, or stud. Can you corroborate this? Or is this an inaccurate claim?
    A
I do not believe that is accurate.  Premise Termiticide is a soil treatment meant to be placed into the ground.  It will last for 5 - 7 years when placed correctly into the soil.  Although you could spray wood with Premise and it may penetrate slightly into the wood and kill termites if they were present, Premise will not last long term on wood because it is not meant to.  There is a product made for wood treatment that will pentrate through the entire piece of wood and remain in the wood and protect it forever, and it is called Bora-Care.  It is very popular and widely used by pest control professionals.  If the company you speak of was going to go through the trouble of spraying the wood anyways then they should use Bora-Care.

    Q
How do I mix Premise 2 and apply it for a termite trench treatment?
i have 1 gallon sprayer would like to apply to trench around my foundation what is the mixing ratio and is poison in liquid or powder form? does the trench need to be flooded? maybe using a 5 gallon bucket.
    A
Please take a few moments to read our article How to do a Termite Treatment. This article will tell you in detail exactly how to do a liquid termite treatment and it will describe any and all equipment you will need. For typical termite barrier treatments you will use 8ml of Premise 2 per gallon of water and you will use 4 gallons of this solution for every 10 linear feet of trench.

    Q
What is the length of Premise in the ground?
How long does premise last once it is in the soil?
    A
Premise and most other termiticides containing Imidicloprid will last for 7 years in the soil.  You should re-treat after 7 years.  Termidor will last for 10 years.

    Q
Can I combine Permise 2 with ProFoam to create multi-year lasting treatment inside a hollow block wall?
Example: as a longer lasting alternative to immeadiate kill foams like Premise 2 Foam. Potenitally even as an alternative tretment to trenching and drilling where the entire perimeter can be accessed via the block wall
    A
Premise 2 is meant for treatment in the soil and is made to bond to soil.  It will not last on wood for a long period of time.  Maybe 2 to 3 months.  You should foam with Bora-Care which is a wood treatment product.  Bora-Care will last in the wood forever.

    Q
What is the difference between Premise and Dominion 2L?
I want to know why this product uses the same active ingredient.
    A
Premise and Dominion 2L contain the same active ingredient. They are made by different manufacturers but the both are non-repellent liquid termiticides. They last approximately 7 years in the soil. Either would be a great choice for trenching for termites.

    Q
Can Premise 2 be used in tubes around foundation of the home?
How much product do I need per tube? Do you have to apply compressed air on the tubes? Do you dilute the 8 oz container with water? What is the ratio?
    A
Premise 2 is not meant for home pest control tubes.  Typically, a different kind of pyrethrum solution is used but it must be forced through the tubes in the home using a compressed air system.  Since we do not sell the compressed air systems for the tubes we do not carry the solution normally used.  However, in many professionals opinion an outside perimeter treatment is better anyways than treating the tubes inside the walls.  This is because when you treat the outside perimeter of the home you will kill the bugs outside before they get into the walls.  We would recommend Talstar as it is the most popular general used insecticide that we sell.

    Q
I want to treat my yard with Premise 2 for termites and not kill my new sod?
I am having fescus sod installed in my backyard, but I need to treat my yard for dampwood termites. I found some between my newly stained wood fence panels. I have never seen them before. They didnt show up until I began staining the wood panels and stacking them on my concrete slab. I want to treat my yard but I dont want to kill the new grass. I read the label and could not find any information on this.
    A
Premise 2 cannot be applied in the manner that you have described. Treating your whole yard for termites with any product is not needed. It is usually recommended that you pre-treat the wood itself with a product such as Boracare and then paint or stain it to avoid having termites infest the wood. What state are you in?

    Q
How safe is Premise for pets, e.g., dogs and cats who like to dig?
Is it toxic if something sprayed with Premise is injected by the pet?
    A
Premise 2 is safe if it is applied when the pets are not in the area and is completely dry before they re-enter. We recommend that you contact the manufacturer, Bayer 800.331.2867 for additional information on the toxicity of the product. If you are concerned that your pet consumed anything sprayed or treated with the product, please contact your vet right away.

    Q
How well does Premise 2 penetrate the soil? Is it effective to termite colony depth of 10-15 ft?
    A

Premise 2 Termiticide will not move through the soil as it binds to the soil where it is applied.  The only way that it would affect termite colonies below ground is if the workers from those colonies are coming and going through treated soil when you apply as a trench around the home.

Can we spray Premise 2 Termiticide into the holes already drilled in our foundation? Also can we spray in the walls?
    A

Premise 2 Termiticide can be used in drilled holes if they are ones that were previously drilled for termite applications only.  It cannot however just be sprayed inside walls as any part of prevention.

    Q
When should Premise 2 Termiticide be applied during installation of a manufactured home?
    A

Premise 2 Termiticide would be applied to the soil before the home is set on the ground if directly placed there.  After building, it would be applied in a trench around the skirting.  We have a step by step guide that will walk you through how to do your own termite trenching treatment. You can see the guide by clicking on the link here.

  • Asked by Doug from Playa Hermosa, Costa Rica
    09/10/2021
    Q
Can Premise 2 Termiticide be applied over the exterior foundation where Taurus SC was previously applied for ants without affecting the Taurus SC application?
I currently have Taurus SC trenched around the foundation of my house and sprayed on the eves of the roof (it's wood, raw, mostly for ants that love going to the roof first). I no longer have access to Taurus SC but I do have access to Premise. I'm currently in Costa Rica. I want to do a re-coat of the outside of the house (wall and ground surface) to try to keep the ants at bay, I will not be re-trenching with Premise but will spraying the exterior foundation with Premise leach into the soil and compromise the Taurus SC.
    A

Since Taurus SC Termiticide leaves a 6 month residual when applied to the exterior perimeter foundation and surfaces of the home, Premise 2 Termiticide or other any other insecticides can be applied after that 6 month time.

    Q
Can Premise 2 Termiticide be mixed with Tim-Bor or Bora-Care?
This is a new home construction and some of the wood already has dry wood termites. I would like to treat all the wood myself, and am wondering if I can mix Bora-Care or Tim-Bor in the sprayer with this product. If spraying separately what order is recommended? Thank you
    A

You will not need to mix Bora-Care or Tim-Bor with another termite product. Either Premise 2 or Bora-Care can be used to directly spot treat any active infestation in the wood.  Bora-Care can also be applied to any raw unpainted/unstained wood for furture protection.  Tim-Bor can be used for protection but would not be recommended to treat active infestations as it only penetrates ¼ inch into the wood as a spray, whereas Bora-Care will penetrate up to 8 inches with 2 applications.
