Taurus SC with 9.1% Fipronil (the same amount of a.i. as the popular Termidor SC) provides best-in-class control of termites, ants and a wide variety of other insect pests including spiders, roaches, ticks and many more. It is labeled to treat for subterranean, arborel, drywood, and dampwood termites. Taurus SC is a non-repellent insecticide that is undetectable to target pests, allowing them touch, ingest and spread the insecticide throughout the entire colony. For termites, Taurus SC will eliminate termite colonies in less than 90 days on average, and ant infestations can be controlled in just a few weeks.
Taurus SC is labeled for OUTDOOR USE ONLY. The only exception is for indoor spot treatments inside wall voids for termites.
Please follow all label directions carefully before use.
More than two applications of Taurus SC per calendar year can be made only if applied according to one of the following frequency and dilution rate application scenarios. DO NOT exceed the specified number of applications per calendar year.

How Taurus SC Works
Taurus SC Termiticide contains the same active ingredient as the popular Termidor SC, the non-repellent Fipronil. Fipronil belongs to the phenylpyrazole family of insecticides, acting primarily as a GABA inhibitor, attacking the central nervous system of target pests. Fipronil is extremely effective, yet it works slowly enough on target insect pests to take advantage of the natural food-sharing habits of social insects, particularly termites and ants. This means that the fipronil in Taurus SC spreads throughout the entire colony, killing not just those insects that come in contact with the direct spray or residual, but all the others they contact, resulting in colony elimination.
Subterranean termites, ants, cockroaches, occasional perimeter invaders
PESTS CONTROLLED: Ants (acrobat, Argentine, big-headed, carpenter, crazy, odorous, pavement, pharaoh, thief), Asian lady beetles, darkling beetles, Australian cockroaches, Oriental cockroaches, smoky brown cockroaches, Black widow spiders, brown recluse spiders, cellar spiders, hobo spiders, Box-elder bugs, Pill bugs, Brown and dog ticks, Centipedes, Cluster flies, European earwigs, House crickets, Millipedes, Paper wasps (NOT a knockdown agent), Silverfish, Yellow jackets, Subterranean termites (including Reticulitermes, Zootermopsis, Heterotermes, Coptotermes)
Taurus SC is a generic version of Termidor SC, the termiticide most widely used by professional pest control companies. Taurus SC is designed for the prevention and treatment of termite infestations, and it can be applied either pre-construction or post-construction. Taurus SC is also labeled for the outdoor perimeter control of many common invaders, most effectively for ants. Because of its efficacy and longevity, termite treatments with Taurus SC may last up to 10 years, and outdoor perimeter treatments only need to be applied twice per year. Taurus SC may also be used in structural wall voids to treat active subterranean termite and ant infestations. Taurus SC is not for general indoor use.
ACTIVE INGREDIENT: Fipronil 9.1%
Taurus SC Application Instructions
Always read the product label completely before use.
Outside Barrier Treatment:
The main use for Taurus SC is for protection against subterranean termite infestations. To accomplish this, an outside barrier treatment is made in the ground around the foundation of the home that will protect against termites for up to 10 years or more.
First, you will need to dig a 6 inches deep x 6 inches wide trench around the outside foundation wall of the home. Next, mix 0.8 fl. oz. of Taurus SC per gallon of water and apply at a rate of 4 mixed gallons per every 10 lineal feet of trench. It is best to use a 5 gallon bucket and mark off the 4 gallon line, then mix 4 gallons of Taurus SC at a time and pour it in the trench. Allow the solution to soak into the soil and then replace the back-fill, making sure that the back-fill is soaked with Taurus SC as well. When you are done, you should have one contiguous in-ground barrier of Taurus SC all the way around the home.
Treating across slabs of concrete touching the house (such as a back patio or front porch) can be accomplished by using a hammer drill with a 1/2-inch drill bit. Holes are drilled through the concrete approximately 3-4 inches out from the house and every 12 inches across the concrete slab. Please see the product label for more information.
For more information please see the article: How to do a Termite Treatment.
Each 20 oz. bottle of concentrate yields 25 gallons of finished solution. Each 78 oz. bottle of concentrate yields 97 gallons of finished solution.
Standard Application Dilution Rates / Mixing Ratios for Taurus SC
- 0.8 fl. oz. (24 mL)/ gal. of water – 0.06% a.i. – most applications, ground termite treatments, ant or other perimeter pest control.
- 1.2 fl. oz. (35 mL)/ gal. of water – 0.09% a.i. – may be used for active infestations or severe termite pressure.
- 1.6 oz. (47 mL)/ gal. of water – 0.125% a.i. – areas of dense soil that will not accept a rate of 4 gal. per 10 linear feet; only use 2 gal. per 10 linear feet per foot of depth.
- Apply at a rate of 4 gallons of finished solution per 10 linear feet for perimeter termite applications.
- Apply at a rate of 1-1.5 gallon(s) of finished solution per 10 square feet of horizontal ground that will be under concrete slabs (pre-construction).
- For perimeter pest treatments (ants, etc.), apply 2 quarts of 0.06% spray per 160 lineal feet.
Taurus SC is for use in the following areas:
Outside surfaces and along foundation of Residential, institutional, commercial and industrial buildings and utility enclosures; wall voids of listed structures; NOT for indoor use; for pre-construction and post-construction treatment for termites, including concrete structures such as patios, porches, sidewalks and foundation slabs; concrete slab (including monolithic, floating and supported concrete slabs) on ground or in basements; hollow block foundations or voids in masonry; structures with French drains and sump pumps; basement structures; crawl spaces; around bath traps and shower drains; posts, poles, and wood landscape ornamentation.
Taurus SC is not for Indoor use. The only permitted use indoors is for active ant or termite infestations in wall voids only.
Treating Live Termite Infestations above ground:
To control Aerial termite colonies or Drywood Termites, mix 0.8 fl. oz. of Taurus SC per gallon of water and apply to infested wooden members or voids. To treat inaccessible areas (for example, if the termite infestation is behind dry wall), drill and inject Taurus SC into the damaged wood of void spaces with a crack and crevice injector. Foam applications can also be made into void spaces.
Termite Control – See general directions above. See our article How to Do a Termite Treatment for more details.
How to Use Taurus SC for Ant Control:
For outdoor control of Ants and other perimeter pests, mix 0.8 fl. oz. of Taurus SC per gallon of water and apply using a hand-pump sprayer around the outside of the home, spraying 1 foot up the side of the house and 1 foot out from the house, all the way around the home. Also spray around any exterior openings where pests may enter such as doors (don't spray near door handles), windows, pipes, cracks, vents, holes, etc. Make sure to treat the joint where exterior siding (wood, vinyl, aluminum or other similar materials) meets the cement, brick or block foundation. Treat anywhere electrical, cable or telephone wires enter the house. This application should be made only twice per year, in the Spring and Fall. Taurus SC works well enough that only 2 applications per year are needed for effective control.
Also be careful to prune away vegetation including shrubs and tree branches that may be touching the side of the house. This will keep pests from using shrubs and tree branches to bypass the protective barrier you sprayed.
Taurus SC Termiticide Features
- The same amount of Fipronil as Termidor SC for less.
- Easier, faster, and more effective than termite bait stations.
- Foam applications may be made in voids for above ground termite infestations.
- Water-based suspension.
- Broad labeling for control of perimeter pests.
- Convenient tip-and-pour bottle eliminates the need for other measuring equipment.
- Do not make applications when precipitation is occurring.
- Do not treat soil that is water-saturated or frozen.
- Do not apply Taurus SC in any way that may contaminate a water source or within 5 feet of a well or cistern. Treatment within 5-10 feet of wells or cisterns must be done by backfill method only (removing the dirt to be treated and replacing it after it has been treated elsewhere or in a container such as a wheelbarrow).
- Do not treat edible vegetation or treat within one foot out from the drip line of edible plants.
- Do not exceed 2 applications per year for perimeter pests.
- Do not apply to pet quarters or to playground equipment.
CALIFORNIA USE RESTRICTIONS
In all states except California, an application of the Taurus SC finished dilution may be applied to soil as a drench or by rodding around the root flare of the tree to prevent reinfestation by termites from the soil. For small trees (i.e., less than or equal to 6 inches in diameter), apply 1 gallon of Taurus SC finished dilution. For larger trees, apply 4 gallons of Taurus SC finished dilution per 10 linear feet measured as the circumference at the root flare.
Above Ground Termites and Carpenter Ants in Localized Areas Carpenter ant use in above ground localized areas not registered in California.
Carpenter bee use in localized areas not registered in California.
In addition to use restrictions stated above, applications made in California are subject to the following additional restrictions. • Do not apply Taurus SC to the garage door, driveway, vertical surfaces above the driveway and garage door, or to cracks and crevices leading or adjacent to the driveway such as the expansion joint between the garage and driveway. • Do not apply bandwidth at greater than 6 inches out and 6 inches up from where the ground meets the foundation. • Only use 0.03% dilution mixing rate. • Do not apply when rain is predicted within 48 hours postapplication or during active precipitation. • Do not re-apply at intervals less than 60 days. • Do not apply more than 4 times per year. • Do not make applications on any date between November 1 and February 28.

IT WORKS!!! Three days after the perimeter of my house was sprayed, no more ants! In twelve years Taurus SC is the only thing that has even touched the ant problem. Now they're gone!

Taurus is a non-repelling insecticide. Following the directions for termite treatment I trenched at the perimeter of my home, sprayed and put the dirt back in. The product works great. It has been two years since I treated my property. So far no signs of harm to good insects because my flowering trees and plants are pollinating just fine. I have recommended this product to my homeowner's association.

This product is very handy to use with the squeezable pre-measured dispenser with separate cap. It allows the user to measure small amounts to apply in tight spaces when a watering can is used and only one or two gallons are needed at a time. Complete instructions are attached to the bottle so you always have them handy for reference. The same stuff the professionals use at a fraction of the cost!

It's only been a week or 2 since we used the product. We bought it obviously to kill/prevent termites but since it said it kills ants we were excited about that since ants seem to be in excess this year. Well so far it hasn't killed the ants they just keep crawling across the surface even though we dug trenches all around the house and sprayed the top surface twice. I'm hoping it works soon and I would reconsider upping my review rating when or if that happens. At this point though if it doesn't kill the ants I'm not confident that it will kill or prevent termites and afraid I wasted my money.
Please be sure you r expectations are in line with how the product works. Taurus is undetectable to ants so they will readily cross over treated areas. In can take 3-4 weeks to see an ant population start to be effected by the product, Ant treatment are much different than termite treatments. You must treat 2 ft up foundation, 2 ft out onto ground and around windows, doors nd other entry points. Have you treated these areas? Please let us know.

Death to bugs. lol I used
By Kevin in weaverville on 07/20/2018
I was using a different product from domyown and ran out. Called and talked to the sales dept and described what I needed and they redone fed Taurus SC. She told me the recommended usage design. Got it a few days later, mixed it up and sprayed. Some people complain about spraying bugs with this and they don’t die immediately, we’ll its not designed to do that. It gets on the bugs and the house and they carry it back. Then mass death occurs. A week later all ant trails are gone. No new webs on porch or anywhere around the house. I did not use this for termites as we don’t have them but hopefully this prevents. Just give it a few days and done. A friend who is a pest control guy pointed me to this company to save me a ton of money and they have, and also we have no bugs. Will not use any other company.

QWhat is the difference between Taurus SC and Termidor SC?
ATaurus SC is the generic version of Termidor SC. They both share the same active ingredient at the same concentration and pretty much the same label. The main difference is the manufacturer.

QCan I use Gravel/crushed rock for the backfill after treatment?
After digging the trench and treating the whole house for termites can i use crushed rock/gravel foe the backfill? For ease of future treatments instead of digging the trench again in 5-10 years couldn't we just pour through the gravel?
AYou do not want to use grave/crushed rock as your backfill after a termite treatment. Termidor does not bond to rock, it bonds to soil, so if you fill in the trench with gravel, the termidor will not stick to it and it will leave you with a 6x6 area of completely unprotected surface that the termites could pass through to get directly to your home. We understand that the digging of the trench is a pain, but it must be done each time and it must be backfilled with dirt, and the dirt that is backfilled must be treated as well if you want your home properly and completely protected.

QCan I spray Taurus SC on the ground for yellow jackets?
Can I mix this product per the directions and spray on the ground and grass for yellow jacket control without hurting the pets? Thanks
A Taurus SC Termiticide cannot be applied to the ground for yellow jackets, only on a building in the eaves where they may nest or try to enter a structure. A better option for ground control on lawns if needed would be something like Tempo SC Ultra.

QDoes Taurus SC work for mosquitoes?
A Taurus SC Termiticide is not labeled for mosquitoes and cannot be used out on the yard or on ornamental plants where you will need to treat for mosquito control. We would recommend to use Talstar P instead. For heavy mosquito control, you can add Tekko IGR and ExciteR Insecticide to your solution, to stump their life cycle and get a quick knockdown on active mosquitoes. We recommend reading over our Mosquito Treatment Guide for further tips and information.

QI am using Onslaught with wet cat food. Will Taurus work like Onslaught to kill the nests and do I mix it at the same bait to insecticide ratio?
A The Taurus SC Termiticide is labeled for yellow jackets and can be sprayed in eaves and around openings to help eliminate them, but we cannot recommend to use the Tuarus SC Termiticide on cat food as you would the Onslaught as it would be off the product label.

QWill Taurus SC Termiticide kill fleas in dirt around house?
A Taurus SC is not labeled for fleas. Fleas tend to live in moist shady areas out in the yard where pets or other animals spend a lot of time resting. Taurus SC however is only labeled to be used in very limited areas on or immediately next to the house or structure making it mostly ineffective for flea treatments. We recommend you use our Outdoor Flea & Tick Kit to get rid of fleas in and around your home.

QI have 10+ mounds of leaf cutter ants. They are eating my trees. How do I apply the Taurus SC Termiticide?
A Taurus SC Termiticide will work for most species of ants but it is not specifically labeled for leaf cutter ants. We believe the reason leaf cutter ants were not included on the label is because most people do not have leaf cutter ants on their homes or trying to gain access to their homes and Taurus SC Termiticide
is only allowed to be used on or immediately around a structure not around trees. Leaf cutter ants can be a difficult pest to get rid of. The colonies are large and the ants make their own food so poison baits only have limited effects on this species of ants. According to several university websites Maxforce Complete Granules containing hydramethlynon are some what effective, though they will usually eliminate only about 30% of a large colony in one treatment and will need to be reapplied several times. DeltaGard Granules is one of the only products actually labeled for leaf cutter ants. The product label recommends treating the mound directly and lightly watering the granules in. Again, it may take several treatments to get the desired results. We also recommend contacting your local cooperative extension office to see if they have any recommendations for products that have worked for other people in your region.

QHow big of a house will the 78 oz treat or how many houses
A You will want to measure the lineal feet around the exterior of the structure for the amount of Taurus SC Termiticide that you will need. It is not measured in square footage for these barrier applications. A 78 oz bottle of Taurus SC Termiticide will treat 240 lineal feet (makes 100 gallons of solution).
