The Prime Source Aqua Black Colorant is a colorant for lakes, ponds and other controlled source water systems. It's a non-toxic colorant that also helps in limiting sunlight penetration into the water. One feature of the Prime Source Aqua Black Colorant is creating an elegant mirror effect on the water without the need of other chemicals. This colorant is safe to aquatic species, pets, waterfowl and will not interrupt any recreational activities or even irrigation schedules. The colorant will not stain clothing, concrete or composite materials, stone and others when use as directed. It is best to use the recommended rate in several areas around the shoreline and allow temperature differences and windblown currents to make the colorant circulate throughout the water feature. Mechanical equipment can also be used for faster dispersal. Product needs to be reapplied every 2-4 weeks or as needed to maintain the mirror like effect on the water. The Prime Source Aqua Black Colorant is also available in water soluble bags packaging.
Use the following formula to determine the appropriate volume of water for treatment:
Pond Length (ft.) x Pond Width (ft.) x Average Depth (ft.) 43,560 ft. (acre foot = 325,851 gallons water)
1 acre of water average depth approximately 4 feet - 1 gallon of dye
Smaller water features approximately 8500 gallons - 1 ounce of dye
Note: Sunlight, biological processes, precipitation dilution and chlorine will gradually diminish the color intensity. Reapply Aqua Black Select every 2-4 weeks as needed to maintain the reflective quality of the water surface. Aqua Black Select should be used in confined water systems only and not in rivers or streams.
