    Q
Which fogger to use for killing bugs in storage unit?
We are moving and want to bomb before I bring things out of storage in my new home.
    A
We would recommend using Pro Control Plus Total Release. This does leave a residual of up to 8 weeks and should not be placed in common living areas and/or near kitchen or food handling areas. Pro Control is meant to be used in a storage facility. You should not return for two hours after the can has been pressed and the fog has had time to settle. Please let us know if you have any additional questions.

    Q
Will the Pro Control Plus Total Release fogger kill black widows and their eggs in my garage? We have a lot of black widows!
    A
Pro Control Plus Total Release fogger will kill just about any insect that is out and exposed at the time of treatment. You should note that the fogger will not penetrate cracks, crevices or other areas that are hidden. Foggers go straight up into the air, float around for a short period of time and then settle onto surfaces. This means that any spiders that are hidden in cracks, crevices, storage boxes, etc will not be exposed to the fogger. You can use the fogger to get rid of any exposed insects and then follow up with a crack and crevice treatment such as Cy-Kick Aerosol. Also, spider eggs will most likely not be killed by any insecticide. The only surefire way to kill the eggs is to crush them or burn them.

    Q
What is the best pesticide to control camel or cave crickets?
I am using strips of duct tape now and catch a few a day over the last several months but they don't stop. I have them in my basement and den and I do see them around the outside of the house.
    A
One of our most popular products for camel and crave crickets is our Niban Fine Granular Bait. It can be used indoors in the basement but it should be used around the outside of your home to help kill the crickets before they try to get into the house.  The Niban FG Bait is a food source that they are attracted to and eat.

    Q
Will Pro Control Plus Total Release kill bedbugs?
I have been spraying using powder for 9 monthes now to get read of bed bugs will this help. If not do you have anything else
    A
We do not recommend any type of fogger or bomb for bedbug control. Pro Control Plus Total Release fogger is made to kill exposed insects. In most instances bedbugs keep themselves concealed in hidden places to avoid detection and they will not come into contact with fogged insecticides. We recommend that you take a look at our Bedbug Kits. These kits come with all of the products that we recommend to eliminate bedbugs plus they come with step by step instructions that will help you treat more effectively. You must follow each step of the instructions, and you must be very thorough (treat every cracks, crevice, void, tuft or fold) and consistently do the retreatments every 7-10 days to get eliminate this pest.

    Q
Can you suggest a bomb for thrips to use in my home and truck?
I used Talstar P to try and get rid of the thrips but it doesn't seen to be working. I'm also using a professional lawn service to treat the yard. They are using Talstar P also. This has gone on for two months now and my house and truck are infested completely. Please help me with my problem.
    A
There are not any foggers or bombs that are labeled for thrips. Of course this doesn't mean that the fogger will not kill thrips, only that the manufacturer hasn't intended it for this type of use or that they haven't tested the product for this pest. There are no foggers that you can use in your vehicle as the space is much too small to accommodate the foggers requirements. We do carry a fogger that you could use in your home, Pro Control Plus Total Release which contains two active ingredients 0.50% Pyrethrins for a fast knockdown, 0.10% Cyfluthrin for a long lasting residual. Also, Talstar P will take time to kill thrips and you should allow several weeks to see the complete results. We recommend that you contact your local cooperative extension office to request an insect identification if you have not done so already. Failure to properly identify an insect can lead to a pest control program failure as different insects require different treatments.

    Q
Is the Pro Control Plus safe to use in my home attic?
I am concerned about smell or chemicals coming down from the attic into the bedrooms of my hole.
    A
You can use Pro Control Plus in the attic as long as it is larger than 5' x 5' but it is possible that some of the product could get into areas down below through vents or cracks in the ceiling. Since Pro Control Plus is labeled to be used in homes in the main living space this really shouldn't  be a problem. Plan on leaving your home for at least 2 hours after activating the fogger. Ventilate enclosed areas before returning. Foggers do have a bit of a smell but in most cases the smell dissipates after a couple of hours.

    Q
I need something to kill wasps/hornets entering my home in the fall.
For the second year in a row, we have wasps/hornets entering the family room to get out of the cold. Our pest control company cannot find the source and we even changed companies this year. We have a small crawl space attic and have closed off the recessed lighting. We have a fireplace with a top flue that closes shut and a small crawl space under the family room. Should I try to use a fogger or something else? My wife and children are allergic to bees, so it is critical that I get rid of them.
    A
You could use a bug bomb or fogger in the attic space if you have an attic space.  If they are in your home then this usually means that they are coming in and out from somewhere around your home.  They have to get out somehow to get food.  Your only option is to find this place where they fly in and out.  Once you find their entry/exit point then you can treat that area directly with a dust and take care of the problem.

    Q
Would this product be a good product for killing yellow jackets?
The nest appears to be behind the brick wall. They are entering between the brick and the brick mold.I was thinking about cutting a hole in the brick molding big enough to fit this fogger in and try to fog them out. Will this work? I have sprayed wasp spray, etc. and that was not good.
    A
No, typically Pro Control Plus Total Release Aerosol is not a good product for bees. Dusting is the best option if you know where the bees/wasps are entering and exiting the nest.  Our most popular dust  for bees/wasp is Tempo Dust.  You will need a hand duster to apply it with.  It usually works within 24 to 48 hours. You want to go up to the opening where they are flying in and out of at dusk or at night when they are not active and puff twice directly into the hole.  Then pull the duster out and puff directly at the hole to cover the opening from about 5 inches away.  This is the most efficient and fastest way to eliminate a bee/yellow jacket/wasp nest.

If you want to give tempo dust a try or read about it further here is a link:  http://www.domyownpestcontrol.com/tempo-dust-p-391.html

The hand duster to apply the Tempo Dust is also on the page linked above.

  • Asked by Skip from Beeville, Texas

    Q
Will can still empty if turned on its side?
I need to fog a very tight crawl space for fleas. There's only about 8" between the dirt and the underside of the joists. House has settled (70 years old) and dirt under it is higher than lawn outside. Can get fogger into area after activating by attaching to a long pole but fogging straight up will just result in a wet spot on the underside of the joists. Will having the can on its side still result in total emptying? If not, do you have a flea product that does have this capability? Thanks
    A
You should only use a fogger if you can activate it with the can upright. There is a lot of pressure in the cans, and there is risk of injury to yourself or the property if they are not used properly. You would want to use products such as those in our Outdoor Flea Kit to treat for fleas. You should also look for signs of rodent or other animal activity that may be moving the fleas around, and seal up access these animals may have to the crawl space.

    Q
Is there a fogger type for termites on a sailboat?
I have a sailboat and I have termites. Because of the many pockets and the bilge can not use a spray. I can close it up tight .
    A
There are not any foggers available that will penetrate into the wood for termite control. In cases like this where sprays are not a viable option, the boats are usually dry docked and then professionally tented to get rid of the termites.

Pro Control Plus Total Release is a fogger that can be used in non-food and food areas. It should not be used when the facility is in operation. During the application, cover or remove food, cover food processing surfaces and equipment or clean after treatment. A 6 oz. fogs/treats approx. 5,000 cubic feet of unobstructed space.

    Q
Would Pro-Control Total Release Aerosol Insecticide prevent wasp nests if sprayed under my house eaves?
Last year we had a terrible wasp problem and I'd like to prevent it from the start this year if possible. Knock down all last year's nests and treat before it warms up. What would you recommend?
    A

Pro-Control Total Release Aerosol will kill wasps on contact and provide a residual for up to eight weeks. We would recommend using a concentrate, such as Cyonara 9.7 outdoors around the eaves of your home for a residual instead of using a fogging product. This can be applied every 30 days as needed.

  • Asked by Pat from Ny

    Q
Does this work on clothes moths and their larvae, and is it safe to use in a closet with clothes?
    A

Pro-Control Plus Total Release - 6 oz would not be recommended only because the label on mentions small moths and does not name the species of moth. While the Pro Control Plus Total Release 6oz fogger will leave an 8 week residual, it would not be the best treatment for long term control. Most foggers will only affect the moths that are out during the time the fog is being dispursed. Please take a moment to reveiew our Clothes Moth Control Article for additional information on treatments. There are different varieties of Cloths Moths. If you are unsure of what type of moth you have, we recommened contacing your local extension office for a proper I.D.
