    Q
When is the best time to apply Prodiamine 65 WDG?

    A

  • Asked by Larry from Satsuma, Al

    Q
How will Prodiamine 65WDG affect turf grass like St Augustine and Centipede during the over-seeding process?
    A

Per the product label for Prodiamine 65 WDG (Generic Barricade): Injury to desirable seedlings is likely if Quali-Pro Prodiamine 65 WDG is applied before the secondary roots of seedlings are in the second inch of soil (not thatch plus soil). To reduce the potential to injure overseeded turf, wait 60 days after seeding or until after the second mowing, whichever is longer, before applying Quali-Pro Prodiamine 65 WDG.

  • Asked by Erin from Herndon, Va
    07/22/2016
    Q
Is Prodiamine 65WDG-generic as good as Barricade 65 WDG?
I'm glad for the lower cost but does the Prodiamine 65 WDG (Generic Barricade) work as well as the Barricade 65WDG herbicide for $169? Why such a difference in price? Thank you
    A

Prodiamine 65 WDG (Generic Barricade) would be just as effective as the Barricade 65WDG.  They just have different manufacturers, otherwise the active ingredients and instructions are the same.  Pricing can vary on products as after the patent on a product expires other companies can then manufacturer the product and do not have to charge as much since the research, patents, marketing etc. was already done by the original manufacturer.  You can think of it as the "brand" vs "generic".

  • Asked by Rick from Thomasville, Nc
    05/08/2016
    Q
What is the ratio of Prodiamine 65 WDG to water I should use in my 2 gal garden sprayer?
    A

The first thing you need to know when using an herbicide such as Prodiamine 65 WDG is that the exact amount of water you dilute it with is not important. It is only important to make sure you are using the correct amount of product per 1,000 sq ft of lawn. Use too much and you risk damaging your lawn, use too little and you will not get adequate results. You will need to use 0.185-0.55 oz per 1,000 sq ft . To decide how much water you want to use, you should mark a 1,000 sq ft area, fill your sprayer with water ONLY, and start walking and spraying just as if you were doing the actual application of herbicide. When you are done walking and spraying the 1,000 sq ft area note how much water it took you to spray that area, and that is the amount you will want to mix 0.185-.055 oz of product with for each 1,000 sq ft area that needs to be treated.

  • Asked by Myron from Houston, Tx

    Q
What are some good weed control products that can be used on Bermuda grass lawns?
I have a Bermuda Princess 17 grass lawn. It is large area. I need a good weed control program and weed killer for crabgrass, broadleaf and general weeds all over.
    A

Prodiamine 65 WDG is a great pre-emergent for crabgrass as well as some other grassy and broadleaf weeds.

Hi-Yield Weed & Grass Stopper with Dimension is another option in a granule form.

For post emergent control, Ferti-Lome Weed Out with Crabgrass Killer is a good option or for a more professional grade product Drive XLR8.
