Details

Gallery 75 DF Specialty Herbicide is a pre-emergent herbicide used to prevent more than 40 annual broadleaf weeds from germinating in established turfgrass, ornamental plantings, and other labeled areas. Its active ingredient, 75% isoxaben, creates a residual barrier in the soil that controls susceptible weeds as they germinate from seed.

What weeds does Gallery 75 DF Specialty Herbicide control?

Gallery 75 DF controls or suppresses numerous annual broadleaf weeds, including:

  • Chamberbitter
  • Dandelion
  • Chickweed
  • Clover
  • Henbit
  • Lawn burweed
  • Spotted and prostrate spurge
  • Plantain
  • Pigweed
  • Purslane
  • Ragweed
  • Knotweed
  • Woodsorrel
  • Horseweed
  • Russian thistle

Control depends on applying the correct rate before the target weeds germinate. Consult the product label for the complete weed list and the rate required for each species.

When is the best time to apply Gallery 75 DF Specialty Herbicide?

Apply Gallery 75 DF before target broadleaf weeds germinate, typically in late summer to early fall for winter annual weeds or early spring for summer annual weeds. It may also be applied immediately after cultivation in labeled ornamental and non-turf areas.
Because weed-germination timing varies by species and location, schedule the application according to the target weed rather than waiting until weeds become visible.

Where can Gallery 75 DF Specialty Herbicide be applied?

Gallery 75 DF is labeled for pre-emergent broadleaf weed control in:

  • Established cool-season and warm-season turfgrass
  • Landscape ornamentals
  • Container-grown and field-grown ornamentals
  • Established groundcovers and perennials
  • Ornamental bulbs
  • Non-bearing fruit and nut trees
  • Non-bearing vineyards
  • Christmas tree and conifer plantations
  • Non-cropland areas

Only apply Gallery 75 DF to plants and use sites permitted by the product label. Do not apply it directly to water, golf course putting greens, dichondra, or turfgrass grown for seed.

How do you mix Gallery 75 DF Specialty Herbicide?

For a small pump-sprayer application, mix the required 0.25 to 0.5 ounce of Gallery 75 DF per 1,000 square feet with enough water to cover that measured area uniformly. Approximately 1 to 2 gallons of water per 1,000 square feet is commonly used with a hand-pump sprayer, but the water serves primarily as a carrier, so accurate product measurement and even coverage are most important.
To mix Gallery 75 DF:

  1. Make sure the sprayer is clean and free of residue from other herbicides.
  2. Fill the spray tank approximately halfway with clean water.
  3. Begin agitation and slowly add the measured amount of Gallery 75 DF.
  4. Add the remaining water while continuing to agitate.
  5. Maintain agitation throughout application to prevent the dry-flowable product from settling.
  6. If the mixture settles, thoroughly resuspend it before spraying resumes.
The container cap may be used for measuring small applications. When filled to the inner lip, it holds approximately 0.5 ounce or 14 grams, which is the highest labeled rate for treating 1,000 square feet. Do not automatically use a full cap if the target weed requires a lower rate.

What is the application rate for Gallery 75 DF Specialty Herbicide?

Apply Gallery 75 DF at 0.25 to 0.5 ounce per 1,000 square feet, depending on the target weed:

  • 0.25 oz per 1,000 sq. ft. equals 7 grams or 0.66 pound per acre.
  • 0.38 oz per 1,000 sq. ft. equals 10.5 grams or 1 pound per acre.
  • 0.5 oz per 1,000 sq. ft. equals 14 grams or 1.33 pounds per acre.
Different weeds require different rates. For example, chamberbitter, dandelion, broadleaf plantain, and spotted spurge require 0.38 ounce per 1,000 square feet, while some harder-to-control weeds require the 0.5-ounce rate. Always identify the target weed and use its corresponding labeled rate.

How long does Gallery 75 DF prevent weeds?

Gallery 75 DF can provide pre-emergent broadleaf weed control for up to eight months, depending on the application rate, target weeds, soil conditions, weather, and proper activation. It will not remove weeds that were already established when the application was made.
Repeat applications of 1 pound or more per acre should not be made sooner than 60 days after the previous treatment. Do not apply more than 4 pounds per acre within a 12-month period.

Is Gallery 75 DF safe for St. Augustine grass?

Yes. Gallery 75 DF is labeled for use on established St. Augustinegrass when applied at the labeled rate. It can also be used on established warm-season turfgrass such as Bermudagrass, bahiagrass, buffalograss, centipedegrass, tall fescue growing in warm-season areas, and zoysiagrass.

Gallery 75 DF is also labeled for established cool-season grasses, including creeping and colonial bentgrass, Kentucky bluegrass, perennial ryegrass, and certain fescues. Do not apply it to golf course putting greens or dwarf-type Bermudagrass during establishment by sprigging.

Does Gallery 75 DF kill existing weeds?

No. Gallery 75 DF is a pre-emergent weed preventer and does not control established weeds or weeds growing from stolons, rhizomes, or root pieces. Remove existing weeds through cultivation or treat them with an appropriately labeled post-emergent herbicide before or alongside a Gallery 75 DF application.

Does Gallery 75 DF need to be watered in after application?

Yes. Gallery 75 DF must receive at least 0.5 inch of rainfall or sprinkler irrigation after application to move the herbicide into the soil and activate the pre-emergent barrier. The product can remain stable on the soil surface for up to 21 days, but inconsistent weed control may occur if it is not activated with moisture within that period.

Can Gallery 75 DF be applied with a hose-end sprayer?

A properly calibrated low-pressure tank or backpack sprayer is generally preferred because it provides more accurate rates and uniform coverage. Hose-end sprayers can be difficult to calibrate and may apply the herbicide unevenly. Measuring the treatment area in 1,000-square-foot sections or using a compatible spray-pattern indicator can help prevent missed areas and excessive overlap.

Can Gallery 75 DF be applied to newly seeded or overseeded lawns?

Gallery 75 DF may be applied to newly seeded or overseeded turf only after the grass seedlings are established, well rooted, tillering, and have reached the three-leaf stage. After treating established turfgrass with Gallery 75 DF, wait at least 60 days before overseeding.

    The Missing Link

    By Rick on 04/18/2015

    Verified Purchase

Galleryt 75 is the missing link in my lawn-care program - weeds don't need any encouragement to grow here in Florida, and this product prevents that growth... it is such a pleasure not finding elusive weeds growing in my lawn - not needing to get out the poisons and spray equipment! It makes having a lawn a real pleasure once again.

Spotted spurge has met it's match

    By Anonymous on 06/27/2013

    Verified Purchase

Works incredibly well on spotted spurge. Reduced spurge sprouts by easily 500x, probably more, compared to the same time last year. The turf in this case is Tifgreen which is often sensitive to weed control chemicals, but this did not affect it at all, even when sprayed in March before the spring recovery from winter overseeding.  Your mileage may vary.

Q
How do I mix Gallery 75 DF Specialty Herbicide?

I just received my order. I have a 1 and a 2 gallon pump sprayer, and I want to use to apply this in the common area next to my lawn. I don't see any mixing instructions. How do I mix this up? Thanks.

A
On page 3 of the product label are the instructions you are seeking.  You can use the lid of the Gallery 75 DF to measure the proper amount of product:  "When filled to the level of the inner lip, the cap contains approximately 1/2 oz, which is the amount of Gallery 75 DF needed to treat a 1,000 sq ft area." You can mix the 1/2 oz of product with 1-2 gallons of water. It is important to use the mixture immediately and to keep the mixture agitated to stop the product from settling to the bottom of the sprayer. The actual amount of water that you use is not important as it acts only as a carrier for the Gallery 75 DF and does not actually dilute the product.

Q
How long after spraying is it safe to allow pets in the sprayed area?

I have a couple of 12 lb dogs that run in the yard where I wish to get rid of dandelions and would be concerned over their safety with this product. Thanks

A
Gallery is a very safe product to use around pets when used as directed. You should have the pets inside while you are applying the product.  Once applied, it typically takes about an hour to dry.  After that time it is perfectly safe to let the dogs back in the yard.  When this product is mixed with water it is quite diluted and should have no effects on a dog or any animal for that matter.

Q
Can Gallery be applied using a hose end sprayer rather than a pump tank sprayer?

Can Gallery be applied using a hose end sprayer rather than a pump tank sprayer. I do have both but was wondering how to keep track of what areas have been sprayed when using a tank sprayer. Any advice would be appreciated.

A
Most folks use a tank sprayer to apply Gallery so that they can be sure that they are getting even coverage. Hose end sprayers can not be easily calibrated and are not usually recommended for use with herbicides such as Gallery. You can either mark off the area that needs to be treated in 1,000 sq ft sections to make applications easy or you can use a dye additive so that you can see where you have sprayed. We carry the Turf Mark Blue Liquid and the Turf Mark Blue Tablets for this use.
