Power Requirements by Diameter

    Utility/Durability of Tree/Termite Auger

    By Ed on 08/28/2020

2" diameter and 24" length is just right for digging watering hole(s) for a young tree as well as for older trees with deeper roots. The forged hexagonal shaft for a heavy drill avoids stripping of the shaft -which is one reason my old (non-forged round shaft) died. I did use a 2-1/2" diameter plastic pipe to keep the dirt from falling back into the drilled hole.

    Vertical Mulching and Weeding

    By John on 11/12/2021

This bit is perfect for weeding and vertical mulching. I've used my first one down to nub, and am just as happy with the second one.

Q
Will Power Planter Tree and Termite Auger (2 in. x 24 in.) - 224H make a large enough hole for Trelona stations?
A

The Trelona Termite Bait Stations are about 2.5 inches in diameter, so our most popular auger for this need is the Power Planter DIY Guru Auger (3 in x 12 in) - 312. If you use a 2 inch auger, just be aware you may need to work the soil a little extra if you have clay soil.
