How to Assemble Your Elite Broadcast Spreader:

  • Remove spreader and hardware kit from the box. Check to make sure you have all the parts.
  • Slide one wheel onto each end of the axle. The left side of the axle has a pin — make sure the pin fits into the slot on the wheel.
  • Slide one washer onto each end of the axle.
  • Insert one cotter pin into the hole at each end of the axle. Bend the cotter pin legs around the axle so the wheels are secure.
  • Snap the hubcaps onto the tires.
  • Recycle all cardboard material.

How to Use Your Elite Broadcast Spreader:

  • Raise the handle, and tighten wing nuts by hand.
  • Turn the orange rate control dial to the correct setting listed in this instruction pamphlet.
  • Fill the spreader over a patch of bare ground or driveway/sidewalk. Do not fill spreader on the lawn. Clean up any product that spills onto hard surfaces.
  • To apply the product, begin walking, then squeeze and hold the trigger.

Note: To avoid potential lawn damage, always push spreader in a forward motion when applying fertilizer. Release trigger at turns or when you stop. The EdgeGuard® Landscape Protection System blocks of the right side of the spread pattern to prevent the product from spreading onto non-lawn areas.

How to Apply:

  1. Make perimeter pass with EdgeGuard® on to protect non-lawn areas.
  2. Make parallel internal passes 6 ft. apart to ensure even coverage.
  3. Release trigger when making turns or when you stop.

Maintenance:

  • Never leave the unused product in the spreader. Pour leftover material back into the package and seal package tightly.
  • If product lands on any hard surface such as a driveway, sidewalk, or road, sweep the product back onto the lawn to keep it from being washed into the storm sewers and ultimately surface waters.
  • Wash spreader thoroughly after use, including the underside, and allow to dry before storing.
  • Periodically spray lubricant on all rotating parts to ensure smooth operation and to extend life.
  • Do not allow product and/or rinse water to enter storm drains or sewers.

Healthy Lawn, Healthy Environment:

Feed your lawn regularly. Fertilizer applied at the right time in the right amount can have a significant impact on the health of your lawn. When combined with proper mowing, thick, healthy lawns crowd out weeds. Healthy lawns are better able to tolerate insects, drought, heat, and other environmental stresses.

Keep the environment healthy by following proper safety procedures. Apply only to the lawn. When fertilizer is left on driveways, sidewalks, or patios, rain or watering can ush the stray particles into the street, where it eventually makes its way to storm drains and surface waters.

Leave the grass clippings on your lawn. Leaving grass clippings on your lawn recycles plant nutrients back into the soil. Clippings contain the same beneficial nutrients as fertilizer. Sweep or blow clippings from hard surfaces back onto the lawn where these benefits can be realized.

    Definitely an Elite spreader

    By David on 10/09/2020

I bought this in August, 2020 and after several uses I am so impressed with the Scott's Elite and so happy that I finally decided to upgrade from my old rotary spreader. Assembly was super simple and I was using the spreader minutes after I opened the box. The Elite spreader holds the entire 15K sq. ft. bag I need to complete my lawn. Even with 35+ pounds in the hopper, it is super stable. The wheels, while plastic, don't feel like plastic and have an all-terrain look/feel. The edge guard is effective and saves me from accidentally doing something bad to the more sensitive landscaping in the yard. While I have only used this 4 times so far, I would highly recommend this spreader. I guess time will tell how durable it is, as most of it is plastic, but the parts that do the work are constructed of sturdy metal. The upshot is that this is a really nice spreader and a big upgrade from the standard rotary that I had been using.

    Product is garbage

    By Mark on 06/03/2023

This product it awful Scott's should be ashamed! I used this plastic junk my lawn had green stripes everywhere from the plastic wheels that make the application uneven ! People really had to spray foam to make wheels not catch the fertilizer! Like why not a solid plastic wheel ?
