Pro-Mate 5-5-25 Fertilizer with Barricade Pre Emergent can be applied when soil temperatures are around 50-55 degrees or prior to germination.
The Pro-Mate 5-5-25 Fertilizer with Barricade Pre Emergent will be limited to how much active ingredient per area you can apply per year. Since this is a pre emergent and fertilizer in one, you would need to look at this more as a pre emergent for the application and timing. If you need to fertilize before the next time you could put down the pre emergent barrier, you would need to use an alternative product that is a fertilizer only. You need to reference the charts on the label that indicate how much you can use per year for your grass type, and decide whether you plan to do a single or split treatment application in the fall and spring. You will need to determine how many pounds of product that would take per treatment, and make sure it does not go over the maximum use rates listed. Since pre emergents are used prior to seed germination, and germination cycles occur in spring and fall, you would need to time your treatments and when you put them down on your soil temps and germination cycles in your area.
From the Product Label:
"Do not exceed a maximum of 400 lbs. product per acre per calendar year. Rates of Application: This product may be applied as a single application or in sequential applications to control weeds germinating throughout the year. All applications must be made prior to germination of the target weeds. This product will not control established weeds. Maximum use rate selection should be based on turf species. The length of time of residual weed control provided by this product is related to the rate applied."
