    Q
How much Propiconazole 14.3 do I mix in the container of my Chameleon Adaptable Hose End Sprayer?
    What setting should I use?
    A

Since we do not sell the sprayer that you have, we are not sure which settings it may have. Keep in mind that when using a fungicide such as Propiconazole 14.3, it is most important that you are using the correct amount of product for the disease you are treating and the size area, and you should think of the water as a carrier for the active ingredient. Please refer to the product label for the correct rate for the disease you are treating (0.5 – 2 oz per, 1000 sq ft). We recommend using at least 1 gallon of water per 1,000 sq ft.

For example, if you are treating for brown patch and using the higher rate, you are applying 2 oz per 1,000 sq ft. If you are treating a 10,000 sq ft lawn, then you should use 20 oz of Propiconazole 14.3 to treat the entire lawn, and we suggest using a setting no higher than 2 oz per gallon of water. You would then treat the entire area evenly using that amount of fungicide in your sprayer.

    Q
What is the mix rate for Propiconazole 14.3?
I know the label says 2 oz per 1000 sq ft, does this translate to 2 oz per 1 gallon of water?
    A

The mixing rate of Propiconazole 14.3 is 1-2 fl. oz. per 1000 square feet.  This would be mixed in however much water it takes to cover that 1000 sq. ft.  Generally 1-2 gallons will cover the area but this depends on the specific equipment being used, how fast you are walking, and the pressure of the sprayer.

Does this have to be mixed with a contact fungicide to control brown patch? I saw the label mentioned something about it, but I am not sure if it is necessary.

  • Asked by Jennifer from Greenwood, In

    Q
So I should water my lawn, then apply the Propiconazole 14.3, then water again?
I feel like watering immediately after would just wash the product away or dilute it. No?
    A

Whether you water in an application of a fungicide like Propiconazole 14.3 will depend on the disease you are treating and the product label directions. If you are doing a preventative application or treating foliar diseases, then you should allow the sprayed area to dry completely before irrigation or rainfall (usually at least 24 hours is best). If you are treating soil-borne diseases, then you can water in the fungicide after application. Keep in mind that you want to avoid over-watering when you are concerned about disease development.

  • Asked by J.m. from Broomallm, Pa
    07/25/2018
    Q
What quantity of Propiconazole 14.3% is needed to protect a healthy elm 90" circumference?
Arborists have identified this elm as healthy, although a larger one 40 ft. away recently died of DED. I plan to purchase 5 Chemjet injectors and treat according to instructions. Is 1 quart of the fungicide sufficient or do I need a gallon; and if I purchase a gallon is its shelf life long enough to use again in 2-3 years?
    A

Per the label you will need to use 6 – 10 ml of Quali-Pro Propiconazole 14.3 in up to 1 liter of water per inch of Diameter at Breast Height (DBH). Since your tree has a circumference of 90", that equals 28.6" of DBH, you will use 172 – 286 ml (5.8 oz – 9.7 oz) in approximately 28.6 liters of water. See page 18 of the product label. A quart should be enough product and it does have a shelf life of 3-5 years as long as it’s stored in a cool dry place. We do not recommend making an injection treatment, unless you’re an arborist or are knowledgeable with the equipment needed for this type of treatment.

  • Asked by Ryan from New Hampshire

    Q
Will Propiconazole 14.3 reverse the effects of brown patch?
I understand it stops it from spreading, but if the damage is done, is there a point to putting this down? Would this help my lawn rebound, or just keep it as is?
    A

Propiconazole 14.3 is only used for prevention and control of diseases.  You will still need to do your part to prevent/repair conditions that allow them to thrive and may need to reseed/sod the areas if they are too damaged.  We do have helpful Lawn Care Schedules here that can help with overall care.

  • Asked by Ken from Long Island, Ny
    08/09/2018
    Q
Can I use Propiconazole 14.3 on black spot on my hydrangeas?
    A

Propiconazole 14.3 does not list hydrangeas as a tolerable plant species specifically on the product label. We would recommend using Bonide INFUSE Systemic Disease Control on hydrangeas as they are a species of shrub. You would mix 1 Tablespoon (½ fl. oz.) per gallon of water and apply every 14-28 days.

  • Asked by Jim from Seneca, Sc - Zone 7
    08/18/2018
    Q
How often should I rotate Propiconazole and 3336F for best fungus control? Every 2 weeks?
I live in zone 7 and have tall/fine fescue. I started early with the above 2 week schedule, but brown spot has come on and become worse as the summer progresses. I am using the curative rate of both products. Should I stick with one or the other for 4 weeks or longer to get better results?
    A

If brown patch is present then you would want to treat every 14 days.  You can apply 2 applications of the Clearys 3336 and then 2 applications of the propiconazole.

The product label for Propiconazole 14.3 does state to tank mix with a registered contact fungicide labeled for brown patch control at the label rate.  Azoxy 2SC or Armada 50WDG are good options for that.

  • Asked by Kevin from Naples, Fl
    09/04/2018
    Q
Is Propiconazole 14.3 the most effective fungicide to treat gray leaf spot on St. Augustine?
From what I'm reading, it sounds like it preventative and I don't want to waste it if I should be saving it for when I get I cleaned up and then try to prevent it from coming back.
    A

Propiconazole 14.3 is labeled to be used as either a curative or a preventative fungicide to treat gray leaf spot. You would apply at a rate of 1 - 2 oz per 1,000 sq ft. Use the higher rate for active fungus and use the lower rate for prevention.

  • Asked by Kevin from Naples, Fl
    09/04/2018
    Q
Can Azoxy 2SC and Propiconazole 14.3 be tank mixed?
You answered that Azoxy 2sc was a good fungicide to tank mix with Propiconazole 14.3, but you say water in Propiconazole, but on Azoxy, you say it's best if you go 24-48 hours without rain/water after applying. What am I missing?
    A

Azoxy 2SC Select fungicide and Propiconazole 14.3 both are labeled to be tank mixed with other class fungicides depending on the disease being treated. The waiting time of 24-48 hours is referring to the amount of time before rainfall or irrigation to reduce the risk of runoff into ponds, streams or springs; not the amount of water used during the application. Azoxy 2SC label specifically states to use 2-4 gallons of water per 1,000 sq ft to thoroughly cover the area to be treated. The Propiconazole 14.3  label does not give a specific water amount to be used when applying to turf, just states “sufficient amount water” therefore using the 2-4 gallons of water per 1,000 as indicated on the Azoxy 2 SC would be fine to ensure an adequate amount of water is being applied to ensure both fungicides get into the soil.
