    Q
Will Propiconazole 14.3 Fungicide work in a Chemjet Tree Injector to kill Evergreen Fir Engraver Beeltes?
    A

Propiconazole 14.3 Fungicide will target listed diseases but we do  not offer information/advice on this for type injection of trees with products as it is for experienced, commercial applicators. This type of beetle can be prevented but not chemically treated once infested. Keep in mind that most trees infested with bark beetles are already suffering from other conditions such as disease, age, competition, etc.

Please view this great article by the Nevada Division of Forestry on the Fir Engraver Beetle.

    Q
Can Propiconazole 14.3 Fungicide be applied as a bark treatment for anthracnose if I am not able treat the full height of the tree?
I understand Propiconazole 14.3 can be used for foliar treatment for Anthracnose but my ornamental pear is tool big for me to reach it all with a sprayer. I prefer to not call an arborist for an injection. Would a bark spray on the trunk be effective? If so, the several large branches start at 4 feet so would I spray them too? As high as possible? The DBH is 23. How many ounces per how many gallons water?
    A

The Propiconazole 14.3 Fungicide Product Label states for anthracnose on ornamental plants: Mix 2-4 fl. oz. of Quali-Pro Propiconazole 14.3 in 100 gals. of water and apply as a full coverage spray to the point of drip. Apply every 14-21 days during the period of primary infection. If disease is present, tank mix with an EPA-registered contact fungicide.

Think of treating foliar diseases such as anthracnose like you would treating a rash or preventing yourself from a sunburn on your skin. If you cannot make full coverage to all your skin with the protective or curative product where the issue is occurring or might occur, then the treatment is not impacting those areas. Propiconazole is not generally seen as a systemic product and tree injection is not suggested for that disease anywhere on the label other than a specific application for prevention of anthracnose in sycamore trees. Drenching or injecting in this case would not solve the particular disease issue you have since it has to be treated directly on the surface where the spores of the disease are found. You likely will need to invest in a sprayer that provides the reach you need for your current tree size, and that will allow you to reach it as it continues to grow; or you may need to hire someone with a spray rig that can do the full foliar application that is required for that type of disease treatment.

    Q
What is the dilution for lawn ( fl oz per gallon)? What is dilution for ornamentals?
    A
Propiconazole 14.3 Fungicide is applied at 1-2 oz per 1000 sq ft for most turf diseases, although the exact rate will depend on the disease you are targeting. You can view the full application rates for use on turf starting on page 6 of the product label.

Use rates on ornamentals will also vary depending on the target disease and the plants you are treating. Those rates range anywhere from 2 - 24 oz per 100 gallons of water.

If you would like to tell us what plants you are treating and target disease(s), then we can better assist you with application rates.

  • Asked by Rick from Branford Ct

    Q
What's the rate for black spot on roses
I'm spraying for black spot on roses and I'm using a 4 gallon back pack sprayer, how many ounces per gallon?
    A

Per the product label, for black spot on roses:
Mix 5-8 fl. oz. of Propiconazole 14.3 Fungicide 14.3 in 100 gals. of water and apply as a full coverage spray to the point of drip. Apply as needed, beginning when conditions are favorable for disease development. For blackspot, apply with a registered contact fungicide labeled for black spot.

That would break down to about 1.5 - 2.5 mL of concentrate per gallon of water.

Since this is a more commercial product, if you are treating home roses, then you may consider a formulation that is easier to measure for smaller applications, such as Fertilome Liquid Systemic Fungicide II:

    https://www.domyown.com/fertilome-liquid-systemic-fungicide-ii-p-1540.html

This product is used at 1-2 tablespoons per gal of water for roses and flowers.

    Q
Can you tank mix mefenoxam (Subdue Maxx) with propiconazole?
    A
Yes, you could potentially tank mix Subdue Maxx with Propiconazole 14.3 Fungicide. Be sure you follow the application instructions for both products and that you perform a small jar test for compatibility before mixing a large tank for the first time. We also recommend testing a small number of plants before using a tank mix for the first time over a wide area.

    Q
In the last few days I've applied milorganite and watered it in thoroughly, perhaps to much as I think there is
do you think it would be advisable to wait, (as more rain is imminent over the next 2-3 days, please provide expertise, T.Y. Larry
    A

Milorganite Fertilizer 6 - 4 - 0 should not be applied when heavy rainfall is expected per the product label therefore we would suggest holding off if you are expecting a significant amount rainfall over the next few days.

We recommend also contacting your local Master Gardener at the County Cooperative Extension Office for the best advise on timing in your area for fertilizing, apply herbicides, weed identification as well as lawn diseases.
