    Q
Will Quali - Pro Bifenthrin I/T 7.9 F kill earth worms on golf greens?
    A

Quali - Pro Bifenthrin I/T 7.9 F is not labeled for earthworms, but it is not selective in what it kills really either.  Earthworms are pretty protected by the mucus on their bodies.  There are no products on the market in the USA that are labeled for earthworms as they are largely beneficial creatures. There are a few known control methods that include cutting back on irrigation so that the worms will go deeper into the soil for the moisture they require to survive, or fertilizing the area after a heavy rainfall which will eliminate some of the population.

    Q
How many gallons of water is recommended if mixing 1 gallon of Quali - Pro Bifenthrin I/T 7.9 F in a bulk sprayer to treat fire ants?
    A

Quali - Pro Bifenthrin I/T 7.9 is applied at the rate of 1 fl oz in 5 to 10 gallons of water per 1000 sq ft. It is critical either to use high-volumes of water (up to 10 gallons of water per 1000 sq ft) if treating dense foliage or to irrigate prior to application if the soil is dry. Best control is achieved thought broadacast treatments in combination with mound drenches as this will control present colonies along with foraging workers and newly mated fly-in queens.

For mound drenches, dilute 1 teaspoon of Quali-Pro Bifenthrin I/T 7.9 F per gallon of water and use 1 to 2 gallons of finished dilution using sufficient force to penetrate the top and allow dilution to flood ant channels. Treat a four-foot diameter around each ant mound.

Application should be made in late evening or early morning when it is cooler (65 to 85 degrees).

NOTE: A spray rig calibrated to apply 1 fluid oz. per 1000 square feet of Quali-Pro Bifenthrin I/T 7.9 F in 5 gallons per 1000 square feet contains the equivalent dilution (1 teaspoon per gallon) required for fire ant mound drenches in the spray tank.

  • Asked by Richard from Staten Island
    05/02/2021
    Q
Does Quali - Pro Bifenthrin I/T 7.9 F work for a bird mite infestation in the house?
    A

Quali - Pro Bifenthrin I/T 7.9 F is not labeled for bird mites therefore we cannot recommend it.

Here is our best advice on mite control:

It is important to be absolutely sure you are actually dealing with mites. Have the suspected mite identified by a reputable source, such as your local cooperative extension office or a reputable pest control operator. Treatments will vary for different pests. Treatment for say bedbugs is much different than the treatment for mites.  If you do indeed have mites, you must first find the source of the infestation, usually a bird nest or a dead rodent on or in the home. Removal of the infested nest or bird and a thorough cleanup is necessary. For treatment in the home, we recommend you frequently vacuum all carpet and upholstery and dispose of the bag or vacuum contents in a sealed bag outdoors. Spray Sterifab on couches, chairs and other upholstered furniture where you may spend time resting. Use Cimexa Dust in all cracks and crevices around the perimeter of the room. Apply a thin coat of Cimexa dust to rugs and carpets. Rake (not sweep) nap back and forth, causing dust to enter rug or carpet. Let product sit overnight. Repeat application as necessary and vacuum every 3 - 4 days for effective control. Cimexa dust does not have a fast knockdown, it can take several days for insects to die after they contact the dust. Onslaught can be used for a faster knockdown. Thoroughly apply as a fine particle broadcast spray using a hand pump sprayer to infested rugs and carpets and other cracks and crevices around the perimeter of each room. Put all clothes through the dryer on high heat to help kill mites and their eggs. We have had many customers use the above recommendations with great success. Most customers report that it can take several months to get rid of all of the mites. Finding and removing the source of the infestation is very important and is the key to getting rid of the mites for good.
