    Q
What is the mix rate to treat Mesquite using Remedy Ultra Herbicide in a 15 gallon sprayer?
    A

Per the product label for Remedy, when treating for mesquite only, you would need to mix with Reclaim (though we do not carry this product) for best results.  The rate to apply is 1/2 to 1 pint Remedy Ultra per acre in combination with 2/3 to 1 1/3 pint per acre of Reclaim.  Apply with ground equiment in 10 gallons or more total volume per acre. Use a maximum of 1 gallon of oil per acre for ground application.

For cut stump treatment: Mix 20-30 gallons of Remedy Ultra in enough oil to make 100 gallons of spray mixture.

Please refer to the product label for complete instructions as further information is available for mesquite treatments on it.

  • Asked by Ben from Ferris, Texas

    Q
Is Remedy Ultra Specialty Herbicide safe to use on pasture broadleaf weeds when the pasture also has mature trees that we do not want to harm?
(60.5% active ingredient.) If so, the instructions say not to graze horses etc. during the growing season. Please explain. That would be when the horses would be on the pasture.
    A

Remedy Ultra does not have grazing restrictions except for lactating dairy animals. There is a pre-harvest interval for hay treated with Remedy Ultra of 14 days. You do need to be very careful when using Remedy or other products containing triclopyr around desirable trees or other ornamental plants. Be sure you do not contact the leaves, branches, or roots of desirable trees with the direct spray or mist of Remedy Ultra to avoid injury. Be sure to follow any other applicable restrictions on the product label.

  • Asked by Randall from Creal Springs, Il

    Q
After it rains, what is the waiting period to apply Remedy Ultra Herbicide?
Is there a waiting period after it rains? It has been raining for 2 days here. I'm doing cut stump treatments with 20% remedy in crop oil. I'm concerned that the water on the stump will reduce control.
    A

According to the label, when using Remedy Ultra Herbicide for a Cut Stump Treatment you can apply at anytime, including in winter months, except when snow or water prevent spraying to the ground line. If the stump has been exposed to the rain, then for best results you need to make a fresh cut and then make your application. It would be best if you make the application at least 24 hours before you're expecting any more rain.

  • Asked by Daniel from Victoria, Texas

    Q
What is the best way to use Remedy Ultra Herbicide to control Macartney Rose in south Texas?
    A

As we are sure you know, Macartney rose is extremely hard to control and nothing is truly going to be labeled for it. However, in doing some research, we found that the university studies and areas with the most success in controlling it used products like GrazonNext. We would not recommend using Remedy Ultra Herbicide because it contains the active ingredientTriclopyr, which almost every study showed to be ineffective at controlling this invasive plant. You will likely need to do multiple applications with GrazonNext and may need to even cut some of the stems and apply the solution undiluted to the fresh cuts to try and help the plant absorb it directly.  You may also want to reach out to your local cooperative extension office, master gardeners program, or department of agriculture to see if they have any other suggestions of successful product use in your region or timing of application that would be best.

  • Asked by Kurt from Enterprise, Kansas
    10/22/2017
    Q
Will Remedy Ultra Herbicide kill locust (thistle) trees, and if so, how and when should they be sprayed?
I have a pasture in Kansas that was infested with large locust trees. We cut & burned & sprayed, but have a lot of small volunteer locust trees. Can we blanket spray the small trees, or must we cut them & stray the stump? Or could we use a rotary mower & cut a large area & then blanket spray the area? If not Remedy, then can you recommend another herbicide
    A

Remedy Ultra Herbicide is labeled for use on locust trees and you can do either the blanket spray to the actively growing areas, or a root drenching type spray to them after being cut with mowers. There are a couple of applications instructions on the Product Label you can follow which we have copied for you below.

Foliage Treatment with Ground Equipment: Use sufficient spray volume to completely and uniformly cover foliage. For ground application, apply 10 gallons or more of total spray volume per acre. Use higher spray volumes fo ground applications to ensure adequate coverage with increased depth and density of foliage, particularly for treatment of woody plants.

High Volume Foliage Treatment: For control of susceptible woody plants, use Remedy Ultra alone or in tank mix combination at the recommended rate to make 100 gallons of spray mixture. On rangeland and permanent pasture sites, make 1 application per year and apply no more than 2 quarts of Remedy Ultra per acre. To control a broader spectrum of woody plants and broadleaf weeds, Remedy Ultra may be tank mixed with other herbicides at recommended rates. Used alone- 1-2 qt Remedy Ultra per 1000 gallons of spray.

Dormant Stem Treatment: Mix 3 to 6 quarts of Remedy Ultra in enough oil to make 100 gallons of spray solution. Apply with a knapsack or power spraying equipment, using low pressure (20-40 psi). Treat anytime when brush is dormant and most of the foliage has dropped. Do not apply when snow or water prevent spraying to the ground line. Thoroughly wet the upper parts of the stems and use the remainder to wet the lower 12 to 15 inches above ground to the point of runoff. For root suckering species such as sumac, sassafras and locust, also spray the ground under the plant to cover small root suckers which may not be visible above the soil surface.  For oil-water mixture application, mix 6 quarts of Remedy Ultra, 25 gallons of oil and 1.5 gallons of an approved agricultural spray emulsifier such as Sponto 712 or Triton X-100 as indicated on the mixing direction.
