For best results when applying, SedgeHammer Herbicide applications should be made when temperatures are between 60 – 70 degrees or when the nutsedge has reached the 3 to 8 leaf stage of growth.
SedgeHammer+ is labeled to control horsetail when it is less than 6 inches tall. If the horsetail is greater than 6 inches tall, this product will only suppress it. Please review the product label for more information.

SedgeHammer Plus Herbicide is not labeled safe or tolerant on switchgrass. Unfortunately, the best option for treating nutsedge in switchgrass would be use a non selective herbicide such as glyphosate and spot treat the weeds directly. You can harvest the switchgrass high enough to leave actively growing weeds, then apply glyphosate at 1 to 2 quarts per acre..It is important to wait until the switchgrass is dormant so that it is not damaged by the glyphosate.

SedgeHammer Herbicide is labeled to control Kyllinga per the product label. The mix rate is 0.5 oz (13.5 grams) of this product (1 pouch) in 1 gallon of water to treat 1000 sq ft of turfgrass. For optimum Kyllinga control, 2 applications are recommended.
SedgeHammer + Herbicide can safely be applied to the turf grasses, Landscaped areas, and other non-crop areas listed on the label, but should not be applied to any desirable groundcovers, flowers or ornamental plants that are not listed, as it could cause injury.
There should not be any issues using Tenacity Herbicide and Sedgehammer Herbicide at the same time as long as the turf is established and not under other significant stress. Tenacity Herbicide states the following in reference to tank mixing. We always recommend doing a small tank mix test before application.
SedgeHammer Plus Herbicide is labeled for horsetail, however it is only labeled to be applied on turf. Diquat Water Weed and Landscape Herbicide will kill horsetail. Horsetail is very hard to control and it can be tough to properly penetrate through the plant. When using the Diquat you will need to mix it at the rate of 2- 4 oz per gallon of water and mix it with an 80% Non ionic surfactant.
Each 13.5g packet of SedgeHammer Plus Herbicide will treat up to 1,000 sq feet and should be mixed with 1 gallon of water. This is the smallest amount it can be mixed at and any mixed solution should be used within 24 hours. Please refer to the Label for complete application instructions.
SedgeHammer + Herbicide is not safe to be applied to monkeygrass (liriope). I would suggest using Image Kills Nutsedge Concentrate instead as it safe for monkeygrass (liriope).
SedgeHammer Plus Herbicide or any other herbicide cannot be added to other hose end herbicide containers for tank mixing nor are hose end sprayers recommended to apply Sedgehammer Plus.
For a better and more even coverage, SedgeHammer + Herbicide should be applied using a proper calibrated pressurized hand pump or backpack sprayer.

Depending on how established the nutsedge is, it can take multiple applications to kill the actual nutlets, even when using an effective product like SedgeHammer + Herbicide. Ideally, the nutsege that will emerge in the upcoming growing season will be easier to control, because of the treatments you have applied in the last 12 months. Sometimes, it can take multiple growing seasons to eradicate a well established series of weeds from an area, even using the most effective of product.
