    How long should I wait afte a rainfall to spray SedgeHammer Herbicide?
    A

     Sedgehammer should not be applied to dry or damp soil. It is most effective if there is no rainfall or irrigation within 4 hours of application.

    Which herbicide is the best for controlling nutsedge, Sedgehammer or Monument ?
    A

    Either Sedgehammer or Monument could be used as they are both labeled for nutsedge and would be effective. Sedgehammer already comes with a surfactant in the 13.5 pack, whereas you would need a separate one with Monument.

    Can marking dye be used with SedgeHammer Herbicide?

    You can add a dye such as Turf Mark Blue to SedgeHammer (or most any herbicide) to see where it has been sprayed.

    Can you over apply SedgeHammer Herbicide?
    I've spent years trying to get rid of yellow nutsedge. Every time I apply sedgehammer it will kill it but it comes back in a month or two even stronger with more growth. If I apply it to my whole lawn every few weeks even as it is dying will this help? My infestation is so bad I don't think I'm getting all of it. I don't really care if it browns the Bermuda grass, the grass is hardly and can't be killed. Also, does making a stronger dilution such as two pack per gallon anymore or less effective?

    It is recommended that you only use 1 packet of Sedgehammer Herbicide in a gallon of water per 1000 square feet. If you are treating more area, you can use more product. This product can be reapplied every 30 days as needed.

    If you are not seeing the results expected, another good option is Dismiss Herbicide. This product is safe for use in bermudagrass and will eliminate nutsedge.

    Can I spot spray with Sedge Hammer herbicide before it's 85 degrees?
    And will it hurt the bermuda if I do spray above 85 degrees?

    Yes, you can apply sedge hammer herbicide to your bermuda lawn before the temperature reaches 85 degrees.  Apply with enough time to make sure it’s dry before the temperature reaches that point or apply in the evening after temps have cooled off.

    Can I use SedgeHammer Herbicide on sod that is 2 months old?
    We purchased a new home with new sod, when is a good time to use this product? We also have a sprinkler system if that matters, so how much water can be used?

    According to the product label, SedgeHammer Herbicide may be used on sodded turfgrass that is well established. Allow the turf to develop a good root system and uniform stand prior application. For best results, do not irrigate for at least 4 hours and do not apply through the irrigation system.

    Can this be used for spot treatment only or for a entire Flora-tam Lawn? Will it kill or affect the grass in anyway? Thanks.

    Can SedgeHammer Herbicide be sprayed around trees and in flower beds?
    Can I use another product mixed with it? And can i spray and fertilize at the same time?

    SedgeHammer Herbicide can be applied to turfgrass, but not to ornamentals, shrubs, and/or trees. It should not be applied as an over-the-top spray to desirable flowers, ornamentals, vegetables, shrubs, or trees. Per the product label: This product may be applied at specified rates as a post-directed spray around established woody ornamental species in landscaped areas. For transplanted woody ornamentals, allow three months after transplanting before applying this product. 

    We always recommend doing a sample tank mix first when mixing with other products to make sure that everything mixes well.

    Does SedgeHammer kill crabgrass?
    Does this product kill crabgrass? I do not see it listed in the description or product label.

    Sedgehammer is only labeled to control Purple Nutsedge, Yellow Nutsedge, Kyllinga and a few other broadleaf weeds.  We do carry several products for Crabgrass and they can be found here: Post Emergent Crabgrass Control

    What is the shelf life of 1.33 oz bottle of SedgeHammer Herbicide?
    Stored in garage that ranges from 38 degrees F to maybe 88 in summer months in TN thanks!

    SedgeHammer Herbicide has a shelf life of about 3 years if kept out of extreme temperatures and direct sunlight.  Nothing below freezing or above 90.  Typically it is best kept in a cool dry place inside.

    Can Dawn dishwashing detergent be used as a surfactant with SedgeHammer Herbicide?
    A

    SedgeHammer Herbicide comes in a 13.5 gram packet that has a built in surfactant and only requires you to add to one gallon of water in your sprayer. The 1.33 oz bottle does not include a surfactant so we would suggest using the Non-Ionic Surfactant For Herbicides rather than dish soap.

    Can I use a Spray Hose End Sprayer to treat my lawn with SedgeHammer Herbicide?
    Can I use a Spray Hose End Sprayer, like the kind that mixes with water as it distributes the chemical? Ortho makes a very popular one I've used in the past with great success.

    SedgeHammer Herbicide can be applied with a hose end sprayer. Please be aware the application through a hose-end sprayer may not be as accurate as using a hand pump sprayer.

    Can I still apply SedgeHammer Herbicide this late in the season?
    I live in south Louisiana and have nut sedge actively growing. It was 84 degrees today (Oct 27th).

    Temperatures can have an effect on the SedgeHammer Herbicide. As long as the nutsedge is still actively growing it can be applied. Colder temperatures can prohibit growth of weeds, but you should still get usage out of the product with those temperatures.

    Will Sedgehammer help control wild bermuda in a zoysia empire lawn?

    SedgeHammer Herbicide is not labeled for crabgrass and may not provide adequate results for this weed. You can read page 4 of the SedgeHammer product label for a full list of the weeds this product will treat. We do have carry a full line of products for crabgrass control: Crabgrass Control Products. We encourage you to look through these products and read the product labels to be sure it will fit your needs. The product labels can be found on each individual product page under the picture of the product.

    Sedgehammer should not be used in and/or around any desirable vegetation. The only item that can be used inside of a food plot would be glyphosate products.
