Product Overview

Monument 75WG Herbicide, a sulfonylurea, is a selective post-emergence herbicide that controls a wide variety of weeds including the majority of sedges (nutsedge or nut grass), oxalis, green kyllinga, and multiple other species of broadleaf weeds and grasses. Use Monument 75WG Herbicide on warm season turf in commercial settings such as sod farms, commercial property management, and golf courses. Weed control by Monument 75WG Herbicide is greatly improved when the soil has enough moisture and weeds are actively growing.

The degree of control resulting from application of Monument 75WG is primarily dependent upon weed species, weed size at application, environmental conditions, amount of Monument 75WG applied, and growing conditions. Weed control is greatly improved when weeds have emerged, ample soil moisture exists, and weeds are actively growing, than when the soil is dry and weeds are under stress from lack of moisture.

Growth of susceptible weeds is inhibited soon after application of Monument 75WG. The leaves of susceptible plants normally turn yellow, red or purple after several days, followed by necrosis and death of the growing point. Complete plant death occurs 1-3 weeks after application, depending upon weed species, growing conditions, etc.

Monument 75WG controls weeds by inhibiting (stopping) a biochemical process that produces certain essential amino acids necessary for plant growth. The inhibited enzyme system is acetolactate synthase (ALS). Certain weeds species have naturally-occurring biotypes within the population that are resistant to ALS-inhibiting herbicides. Applications of ALS-inhibiting herbicides used alone in the same area(s) continuously over a number of years can lead to an increase within a weed population of the ALS-resistant biotype(s). This, in turn, may reduce the utility of ALS-inhibiting herbicides for controlling entire populations of that particular weed species. To prevent or delay a build-up of ALS-resistant weed species biotypes, weed management programs should include the use of appropriately registered herbicides, for use on turf and for control of these weeds, with different modes of action (MOA’s) within the same year, or sequential years. Hand weeding before weeds set seed may also be helpful in reducing the build-up and spread of herbicide-resistant biotypes.

    No Moa Poa!

    By Johnt on 05/25/2013

Knocked down mature poa annua and dallisgrass in one treatment. Did not destroy Bermuda. Killed the poa and dallis enough for the Bermuda to move in unlike other herbicides which leave dead brown spots which have to be sanded, etc.

My rear yard backs up to a golf course and the course sometimes sprays Monument but never in the eight feet behind my yard. The nut sedge grass was dense behind my property line and some into my rear yard landscaping. Also in the last application of Monument by the golf course, they did not do a good job in spraying and there was still some nut sedge into the course. I sprayed the Monument in a very large area (2 gallons worth) and waited to see the nut sedge die. After several days, nothing and I was frustrated that maybe the golf course sprinklers had washed the Monument away. Then all of a sudden, after more than a week, the nut sedge is gone where I sprayed. It just takes Monument and patience.

    Monument 75wg

Monument 75w absoutely killed the nutsedge. I can tell and my neighbors can tell by just looking at the brown spots all over my bermuda lawn. The bermuda was not killed even if I sprayed it. Absoutely no damage to my bermuda, as a matter of fact, the nutsedge is brown and dead and the bermuda is growing right in the middle of the brown spots and doing extremely well and thriving.

I had a good deal of poa in my bermudagrass lawn. I spot sprayed with Monument. It took a few weeks but it killed all of the poa, some of it was rather mature. I will definitely used it again if needed.

    EXCELLENT Product

    By Anonymous on 05/31/2013

    Verified Purchase

We used this on our bermuda grass which had many weeds, particularly sedge, growing in it. One application did the trick. We put one envelope in 2 gallons water along with 2/3 ounce surfactant. Needed three envelopes for our 1/3 acre yard. Definitely worth the price.
