About Fleas and Ticks
Fleas and ticks are more than just annoying. They can cause several health issues.
Fleas
A single flea can feed on your pet for over 3 hours.
Fleas can also lead to potentially serious health risks:
Fleas are not just a “dog problem”
You or your dog can bring fleas home to infest your cat without you realizing it. This, plus any outside exposure can put a cat at risk for fleas.
Ticks
Repelling and killing ticks is important:
The mouth parts of a tick act like a tiny harpoon, ready to anchor into the dog or cat's skin. After they are attached and are feeding a number of organisms can enter a dog or cat's bloodstream. If a tick is repelled or killed, it cannot attach and transmit organisms that may cause disease.
Ticks may also carry organisms that can cause:
How Seresto works
An effective combination
Inside the unique polymer matrix of Seresto are two active ingredients:
Sustained release technology
Seresto works similarly to a monthly topical, but as the active ingredients wear off over time, a new supply is continuously replenished in low concentrations. The active ingredients spread from the site of direct contact over the skin surface.
Bayer's polymer matrix technology is designed to slowly and continuously release the active ingredients over eight months, a duration that makes it clearly different from other collars.
Seresto is water resistant
The active ingredients of Seresto are contained within the Bayer Polymer Matrix, making it water-resistant. Therefore it is unnecessary to remove the collar before the pet is immersed in water. Seresto remains effective following a shampoo treatment, swimming, or after exposure to rain or sunlight. Under normal conditions, effectiveness lasts for eight months. In order to maintain an 8-month duration, dogs must not be bathed more than once per month. For dogs that swim once a month or more, the control duration is reduced to five months.
How to Apply
Monthly flea and tick treatments can be time-consuming to apply. Plus, remembering to apply them monthly can be a hassle. Seresto takes just minutes to adjust on your dog or cat, and provides treatment that lasts eight months against fleas and ticks.
Application is easy
Make sure Seresto fits securely
As a guide, it should be possible to insert two fingers between the collar and the neck. Make sure the collar is not loose enough for the cat to put its leg through.
If your dog or cat is not used to collars
Please carefully observe your dog or cat when it’s wearing a collar for the first few days, especially when the pet is not used to wearing a collar. Try using a tasty treat, toy or other activities to distract your dog or cat’s attention from the new collar. Occasionally slight itching may be observed in animals that are not used to wearing collars in the first few days of fitting. Ensure that the collar is not fitted too tightly.
Safety-Release Mechanism
Because some pet owners may be concerned that a cat or small dog could get stuck while wearing a collar, Seresto is designed with a safety release mechanism. In the unlikely event of the cat being trapped, the cat's own strength is sufficient to widen the collar to allow for quick release.
A hard pull causes the ratchet-release mechanism to allow a widening of the collar.
The small dog and cat collars are equipped with a predetermined breaking point. A harder pull triggers the breaking of the collar at this point.
If your cat is not used to collars
If the collar feels foreign, the cat especially may scratch at it initially but should adapt in time. Offering a treat or toy after applying Seresto may be enough of a distraction to end this behavior.
Slight hair loss and mild skin reactions due to the mechanical irritation of the collar may occur at the application site, which usually recover within a week or two without the need for collar removal.
Note: Please see Product Label for important Precautionary Statements and proper Storage and Disposal.

I have two dogs and three cats and always had a problem with fleas, especially during the summer months. These flea and tick collars are amazing. Doesn't seem to matter where they wonder, all of my pets have been flea-less since using. And it does last for at least 8 months. Best flea prevention I have ever purchased.

Even though the Seresto Dog Flea and Tick Collar continues to work for 8 months, it is not a complete repellent during that time. Fleas and ticks will still need to bite to consume the active ingredient, so it can take several hours for them to die. Be sure that you are still checking outdoors and treating as needed so that the dog is not bringing fleas and ticks indoors. Please take a moment to review our Flea Treatment Guide for more tips and information on eradicating this pest.

The Seresto Dog Flea and Tick Collar does not have an expiration date as long as it has remained in its original container and stored in cool/room temperature conditions. Once the collar has been opened and placed on your animal, it will last 8 months according to the manufacturer.
You may contact Bayer Animal Health at 800-255-6517 for more questions on their product.

There really is no need to use an essential oil flea spray when using Seresto Dog Flea and Tick Collar but would recommend consulting with your Vet prior to using an essential oil with the Seresto Collar or contacting the manufacturer of Seresto directly.
Seresto is made by Elanco Animal Health. They can be reached directly at 877-352-6261,
I bought nutrient defense topical flea and it does not work I want to I got my collars and I want to put those on is it okay it's only been like a week
It would be recommended to wait until the residual on the topical you treated your pet with has run out before applying a Seresto Dog Flea and Tick Collar to avoid overmedicating your pet.
I thought they were good and killed fleas for 8 months, they are scratching and itching constantly and have fleas.
The Seresto Dog Flea and Tick Collar will not repel fleas but kills fleas when they get on the dog. Are you treating areas the dogs rest inside the home or visit in the lawn for fleas? If not, this is an important step for flea control as without treating those areas, fleas will continue to thrive and bother your pet.
Please take a moment to read over our flea guide to learn more.

Let us know if the Seresto Dog Flea and Tick Collar was purchased through us. If not we would recommend contacting the manufacturer for troubleshooting steps.
While the Seresto Dog Flea and Tick Collar is designed to kill any fleas or ticks that get on and feed on the pet, it will not put a bubble on the pet and keep any insect from being able to still jump on. Be sure you are also treating the areas the pet frequents. Check out our Flea & Tick Guide for more tips.
He already whines often when he's not getting attention(which is normal). But today was his first day with it and i noticed he was whining extra? he ate breakfast which was before i put the collar on. he ate treats throughout the day, drank plenty of water but wasn't really interested in dinner. he ate some but not much. first time dog mom and i'm just trying to keep my baby safe!
We would suggest reaching out to your veterinarian and/or the manufacturer of the Soresto Dog Flea and Tick Collar (Bayer) for more information on this. It is possible that your dog is not used to wearing a collar like this, or it could possibly be irritating. There is also the possibility of an allergy. Your vet and the manufacturer should be able to answer any questions about your pup's specific situation. Bayer's phone number is 866-992-2937.

I needed the collar to be longer my small dogs have thick necks the place that I bought it said they were the same and same price so I bought large so I could trim them. now i'm concerned the medicine strength may be too much for the small dog.
Seresto Dog Flea and Tick Collar contains the same percentage of active in the sizes, you would just choose the size that best fits your pets neck. It would not harm your small dog if you use the larger collar. You would just have to cut more off to fit down to size.

Seresto Dog Flea and Tick Collar are water-resitant, so they remain effective following a bath (with or without shampoo treatment), or even after your dog goes for a swim. Therefore, there is no need to remove the collar for bathing. However, using a gentle, soap-free pet shampoo is recommend.
