    Q
    Ant infestation in oak trees
We have several large oak trees in our yard that are severely infested with small black ants. The ants apparently live/nest in the trees but have recently started moving around our yard a lot and are everywhere. Now they are even in our house, specifically in our attic. No other products have been successful in exterminating them so my mom suggested we use Sevin products. The product states it is specifically for outdoor use so is it safe to spray in the attic? We also have a large population of squirrels that we feed so which of your products would be safe to use that would not be harmful to our squirrel population?
    A
Sevin Concentrate is labeled to be used outdoors only. For ants indoors, we would recommend using something like Phantom Aerosol. This can be sprayed around the baseboards, cracks and crevices, void treatment where pests harbor, nest, trail, run, and/or breed or hide. Treat into voids or to surfaces beneath cabinets, furniture, spaces between equipment, expansion joints, surfaces behind sinks, floor drains (to sewers), lockers, and water pipes.

  • Asked by Colby from Macon Ga
    02/16/2015
    Q
what if i spread sevin in a seed spreader and forgot to water it, can I go back two days later?
    A

We are not sure which type of Sevin you are referring to. The Sevin Insecticide comes in a granular and liquid form. The clarification for both is listed below. Please let us know if you have any further questions.

Since the Sevin Insecticide Granules are activated by being watered in, we would recommend watering them as soon as you can. Failure to water in the granules can lead to treatment failure because the chemical cannot be released from the granule and will not be available to the pests.

The Sevin Concentrate is mixed at a rate of 1.5 oz - 3.0 oz per gallon of water and applied using a hand pump sprayer or a hose end sprayer. For this type of appication, the product need 24 hours without rain for enough time to dry.
