    Q
When should I spray Red Maples with Sevin Gardentech?
When should I spray my Red Maples with Sevin Gardentech? Last year the leaves were eaten by winter moths. The buds are just coming out. I want to make sure I treat it before it's too late.
    A
Because Red Maple trees are sensitive to chemicals we would recommend for you to contact your local cooperative extension office, they'll be able to help you find the right course of treatment.

    Q
Would you recommend how often to spray apple trees that are only 2 years old?
    A
To avoid undesired apple thinning delay use until at least 30 days after full bloom. If there is insect activity then you typically only need to retreat every 7-14 days. Be sure to wait at least 3 days between the last application of Sevin Concentrate and harvesting the apples.

    Q
    Ant infestation in oak trees
We have several large oak trees in our yard that are severely infested with small black ants. The ants apparently live/nest in the trees but have recently started moving around our yard a lot and are everywhere. Now they are even in our house, specifically in our attic. No other products have been successful in exterminating them so my mom suggested we use Sevin products. The product states it is specifically for outdoor use so is it safe to spray in the attic? We also have a large population of squirrels that we feed so which of your products would be safe to use that would not be harmful to our squirrel population?
    A
Sevin Concentrate is labeled to be used outdoors only. For ants indoors, we would recommend using something like Phantom Aerosol. This can be sprayed around the baseboards, cracks and crevices, void treatment where pests harbor, nest, trail, run, and/or breed or hide. Treat into voids or to surfaces beneath cabinets, furniture, spaces between equipment, expansion joints, surfaces behind sinks, floor drains (to sewers), lockers, and water pipes.

    Q
Will Sevin Concentrate address damage to peach and apple trees indicative of an aphid problem and ant problem?
I haven't seen any aphids. The young fruit has dried sap like nodules on them and sap is seeping at interval parts of tree itself. Is there solely an ant problem or something else at work causing an added ant problem?
    A
We are unsure of exactly what you are dealing with, whether it is ants or aphids. Sevin Concentrate is a very good product that is labeled for apples and peaches. Mix 1.5 oz - 3.0 oz per gallon of water and applied using a hand pump sprayer or a hose end sprayer

    Q
Can Sevin Concentrate be used on evergreen trees, ash trees, plum trees, and Japanese lilacs
I had the trees sprayed by a lawn service and he used Sevin that hooks up to a water hose. My trees have leaves curling up and one tree they are turning brown and leaves are falling off. Is there anything I can do to help my trees or are they ok?
    A
While we cannot comment on the services done by professional companies we can say that Sevin Concentrate is labeled to treat for insects on ornamental trees and on plum trees. It is possible a disease could be effecting the trees and causing the damage unless insects where identified as the cause.  WIthout knowing exactly what is causing the issues we cannot make recommendations on what you can do to help the trees.  The trees should be fine with an application of Sevin if used as directed on the product label.

Sevin Concentrate can be used around the perimeter of your home only. It is not labeled to be used in your lawn.

Any treatment for rose bushes when using too strong application per gal. of water?
A lot of the concentrated insecticide stuck to the leaves and they continue to have white spots even after spraying with water.
    A
The mixing ratio for Sevin Concentrate when spraying on ornamentals, including roses, is 1.5 fl. oz. per gallon of water. That is the only rate that it should be used at according to the label.
