What is Sevin Dust?
Sevin insecticide dust (made by Garden Tech) is a popular name-brand pesticide containing carbaryl, a pest control product that has been used by gardners for years to control insects in gardens, ornamentals and on crops and edible vegetables. Sevin dust is considered a broad-spectrum insecticide, meaning that it will kill the majority of insects that come into contact with it. This includes insects that infest vegetable plants as well as some pollinating and flying insects.
Sevin dust bug killer is available in a dust form as well as a liquid concentrate. Most gardners prefer Sevin Dust as it is easier to apply in the dust form and comes in a covenient 1 lb. shaker container. Be careful when applying Sevin on flowering plants or flowers that attract pollinating insects as Sevin will kill those beneficial insects if they should come in contact with the chemical. Sevin has low toxicity to mammals when used as directed.
Fire Ants!

I work with wolves, and we receintly moved the entire pack to a new facility. It was over run with Fire ants and biting our poor wolves feet and bodys. I put the powder on the opening of the ant hill, and no more ants! The other products just made them move their hole about a foot away, but I'm not seeing any new holes.

Our garden is next to our 550 ft well,.
When using Seven Dust 5%, this product does not leave behind any soil residual. We do want to caution you, though, if you are applying this close to a well opening; as a precautionary measure you might want to cover the well opening with a tarp just so that no product flies into the well opening by mistake or wind carriage. Also, do not applying this product on a windy day.

Unfortunately, Sevin Dust 5% is not labeled for use on Roses. Roses are naturally sensitive flowers and we would recommend a product that is specifically for Rose Care.

My well and septic tanks have large ant colonies all around them.
The manufacturer of Sevin Dust recommends that it be used at least 5 feet away from a well or septic tank.

Will we get sick from any okra I harvested before waiting the 21 days after using the seven dust spray that hooks to my water hose? We harvested a bunch & pickled them.
Sevin Dust has specific regulations on harvesting after application based on their research. It it is possible it could harm anyone who would consume the vegetables prior to the allowed harvest time frame. Always follow the labeled instructions for your safety.

Good Morning. I read on one of the other questions that I should wait 48 hours after application before watering. The problem with this is I live in Louisiana and my plants are all in pots it just gets entirely to hot to wait 48 hours. It has been so hot here I have actually had to water them 2- 3 times a day this week. Would it be okay if I water them with a slow running hose directly in the dirt with out getting the leaves wet?
