    Q
Do I need to apply Sevin Dust 5% again after the rain?
I applied sevin dust to my plants the other day and then we had an unexpected rainstorm. The powder has dried to the top of the plants but should I reappy the powder again?
    A

When applying Sevin Dust, or any other insecticide dust outdoors, you want to have as many dry days in a row as possible to allow the product to work. Once it rains it will wash away the dust as it is not designed to stick to the surfaces outdoors long term.

  • Asked by Deanna from Keithville, La
    06/07/2018
    Q
Will a heavy coat of Sevin Dust hurt my garden plants?
We dusted 2 days ago & the duster put out a rather heavy coating. We have squash, zucchini, cucumbers, tomatoes & canteloupe. We want to kill the cucumber beetles, but don't want to harm the plants.
    A

Per the product label for Sevin Dust, you should apply a thin, even film of dust to plant surfaces. Do not reapply more than once a week. If there is still a heavy dust application after several days, then you may rinse the plants to remove excess dust to prevent phytoxicity or other sensitivity. Be sure to follow the label for pre-harvest intervals and maximum number of applications per year.

  • Asked by Maria

    Q
I put alot of the 5% sevin dust under my deck. Now I'm worrying about breathing in the dust when the wind blow
Now I want it gone, can I just spray it with water to get rid of it? Do you think the wind is stirring it up.
    A

Dust such as Sevin Dust can move with the wind if it is applied very heavily or to very dry areas. We do not think there would be concern about being on the deck above where the product has been used. If you wet the area with a hose or watering can, then the dust will break down more quickly and be absorbed into the ground.

  • Asked by Brenda from Ville Platte, La
    08/03/2017
    Q
Can Sevin Dust be applied directly on plant leaves?
Can you spray any outdoor plant with Sevin dust? And could copper help your plant with yellow leaves?
    A

Sevin Dust can be applied on plant leaves in most cases, but please be advised that the label states that new or tender foliage may be damaged in the presence of rain or high humidity in the first few days after application.

If you have some plants where the leaves are turning yellow, we would recommend that you identify the cause of the yellowing (drought, stress, disease, etc.) to determine whether it would be appropriate to use copper to treat this, or if a different type of product is needed.
