Sevin Insecticide Granules need to be watered in immediately after application to activate the granules. While it might be ok for rain a few days later, to get the most effectiveness we would recommend applying right before it rains. Pets should be kept out of treated areas after watering in until dry.
Sevin Insecticide Granules are safe for chickens if used as directed. Chickens (and other animals) should be kept out of the area while the product is being applied and watered in. They can return as soon as everything is dry. Please be sure to review the product label for more information and complete application instructions.

The females cause more damage than the males but the adults only emerge to mate and die. The next generation hatches 6-10 weeks after death. The females lay their eggs under bark. Larger trees can survive the some damage. They don't survive long enough for the products to be effective.
