    Q
How long does it take for the grubs under the soil to die after an application of granules?
    A
The time it takes for a grub or any other insect to die after coming into contact with or ingesting the product will be entirely dependent on how healthy the pest is, how mature it is in its life cycle (the more mature the harder to kill) and how much time it spends on the surface thats been treated.

    Q
Once I have sprinkled Sevin granules for veggies, when is it safe to plant lettuce?
    A
The Sevin Lawn Insect Granules that we carry are not labeled to be used around lettuce so we cannot provide an answer to that.  You can try contacting the manufacturer directly to confirm if it can, GardenTech can be reached at (866) 945-5033.

  • Asked by Wanita from Portland, Oregon

    Q
Do I water the Sevin Insecticide Granules in?
    A
Watering the Sevin granules in is what activates the granules. If it is going to rain close to the time you are applying the granules that will be fine too. Failure to water in the granules can lead to treatment failure because the chemical cannot be released from the granule and will not be available to the pests.

    Q
We applied the Sevin granules to our yard and ever since then the yard has been pretty wet from the weather.
I need to know when my dog can go in the yard? It has not fully dried because of the weather and its been 4 days.
    A
If the Sevin granules have been washed away it should be safe for the pets to re-enter the area but try to keep them off the lawn as long as possible til it at least dries some. Keep an eye out for puddles that the dogs could potentially drink from in the yard and keep them away from those until gone. If you have any other worries, contact the manufacturer as they will better be able to tell you the side effects if any that the pets would incur. GardenTech:1-866-945-5033

    Q
Can i apply Sevin Granules in winter months to get a head start on control?
    A
You are certainly welcome to apply the Sevin Granules before you actually start seeing signs of pests arriving in your area when the season warms up. We would not see it beneficial to put it down if temps are still regularly freezing or if you have snow on the ground.

    Q
Which Sevin product would be the most effective for fleas in my dog pen, sevin dust or granules
My dogs pen is overran by flea. Ive triwd a few differant things but no luck. I went to buy sevin dust and seen the granules. Which product (sevin dust or sevin lawn granules ) would be more effective?
    A
We normally would steer away from Sevin unless there is a veggie garden in the area.

All animals need to be out of the area while you are doing the application and they can safely return after the treated area has dried. When spraying outdoors the area you are treating should be dry at the time of the application and for 24 hours after the application. After 24 hours the products will be rain safe. Conquer and Archer IGR can be applied. On upholstered furniture you could use a product that is labeled for this type of application such as Ultracide. Most infestations require a second treatment and severe infestation may even require a third treatment. Treatments should be applied at two week intervals. Infested areas indoors should be thoroughly vacuumed prior to product applications to help remove as much flea eggs, larvae and debris as possible, and also to help stimulate larvae to change stages and come into contact with the product. You should continue to vacuum at least every other day for the next two weeks. Pets should be treated for fleas as well as the areas they spend a lot of time such as pet bed, kennels, carriers, couches, and moist shady areas where they spend time outside.

If you still want to use Sevin we recommend Sevin granules.

    Q
How long does it take for Sevin Granuels to dissolve?
I used a spreader to cover my back yard with a bag of Sevin Granuels(for fleas, ticks, etc) 3 days ago and saturated it with water very well. I still see the granuels and I thought they would break about or dissolve in water at least. I'm little concern since my puppy loves to explore my yard and my yard is dry from the florida sun. Do I need to spray more water or let it be and is my pet safe. Going on day 4.
    A
Sevin Insecticide Granules should dissolve with good amounts of water. Even a good rain should help. You may want to try watering it again.

    Q
I applied Sevin Granules and now have grubs all over my lawn surface
I applied Sevin Granules two days ago. My lawn is now covered with grubs that are still living. Is the Sevin working/ Are the grubs dying or just surfacing to escape the Sevin?
    A
It does take time for the grubs to die because they need to ingest Sevin Insecticide Granules or come in contact with it. Depending on how healthy the pest is, how mature it is in its life cycle (the more mature the harder to kill) and how much time it spends on the surface thats been treated will also depend on how quickly the pest is eliminated. Also, make sure the Sevin Insecticide Granules were watered in to activate them.

    Q
    Sevin to kill grubs
I live in Zone 4/5 so its still in low 20's at night. Would it be better to wait till its warmer to try to kill grubs. I would think they are still quite deep in the ground.
    A
We recommend contacting your Local Cooperative Extension office for the best time to treat for grubs in your region. They are better familiar with soil temps, hatching times and conditions in your area. After speaking with them, you may contact a representative at 1-866-581-7378 and we can assist you with a product.
