    Q
If there is no residual with Shockwave and it kills on contact how can the IGR work properly?
I was wondering, If there is no residual and it kills on contact how can the IGR work properly? I thought that it has to be carried on the mosquito legs.
    A
Shockwave does in fact leave a residual. Most fogging concentrates do not leave a residual but with the recent changes to Shockwave and the ingredients that were added to the product such as the IGR and the Esfenvalerate a residual will be left. Any insects that are present during the fogging will be killed immediately. Insects that come into contact with treated areas after the fogging will be eliminated at a much slower rate.

  • Asked by Tracy from Chicago, Il

    Q
What kind of oil do I use to dilute Shockwave Fogging Concentrate? Where can I purchase it?
    A

You want to use mineral oil to dilute Shockwave. We unfortunately do not carry or have access to the oil you would need for mixing, however the Shockwave can be used undiluted for applications as well. You may need to try local hardware or farm stores to see if they carry the technical grade mineral oil needed if you choose to dilute the product.

  • Asked by Robin from Nashville, Tn
    07/18/2013
    Q
What would be the dilution ratio of Shockwave in a thermal fogger for mosquitoes?
    A

We apologize but we are not able to give a rate for the use of Shockwave in a fogger for mosquito control.  The Shockwave product label specifies, "Do not use this product for area-wide mosquito adulticiding applications." Shockwave can be used for perimeter outdoor control, but it should not be used for thermal fogging outdoors for mosquites.

Unfortunately, there are few products remaining on the market for mosquito treatment outdoors using a thermal fogger. We do carry Bonide Bug Beater Yard and Garden Insect Fog, which is excellent for small and/or garden applications. CSI 30-30 Mosquito, Fly, and Gnat Control would be appropriate for larger area applications.

  • Asked by Sebastian from Fort Lauderdale, Fl

    Q
Can I use Shockwave Fogging Concentrate to kill termites, and can I use it in a fogger system in my attic?
We have a small amount of termites showing up in our attic trusses. Can we use this product in a fogger system in our attic? What would be the ratio of the Shockwave to water? Finally, how long will your fogger unit run when filled?
    A

Shockwave is not labeled for termites in any way, and fogging is not recommended for them as this method only kills what is out in the open at the time you use it and termites are actually inside wood not out in the open.

For treating active infestations of termites you will need to treat the wood they are infesting directly. This can be be done with a product like Boracare if you are treating for drywood termites, or Termidor which is good for subterranean termites and drywood. If you are dealing with subterranean termites it is also recommended to do a trench around the home for prevention and treatment. We have some great advice here if you click through the Identify, Inspect, Treat, and Prevent on the top blue bar.

  • Asked by Garret
    03/30/2015
    Q
    Mineral Oil usage in Shockwave
What type of mineral oils are recommended in conjunction with shockwave and fogging. I understand that you company sells a citrus type is that acceptable also, or do you have to use just a plain oil. Lastly I understand by reading the mixture to shockwave is a part shockwave to 2.25 parts of mineral oils is that correct? How does the mineral oil not separate from the shockwave in a fogger being it is a water base product pesticide.
    A

We would recommend picking up some mineral oil from a local home improvement or paint store for use in Shockwave Fogging Insecticide. We would recommend sticking with what the label says and mixing with mineral oil. You could also use a light petroleum oil as well. You do not want to clog up your fogger with oils that are not listed on the label.

The mixing rates for Shockwave Fogging Insecticide will depend upon what you are treating for.

  • Asked by Efren
    02/22/2015
    Q
Can I mix Shockwave in a 1 gallon B&G for residual treatment?
    A
Shockwave can be used in standard sprayers following the instructions on the product label. Though honestly the residual activity is going to largely be based on the outdoor elements in your area and how they affect it over time. You could get a 30 day residual however you may only get a 14 day residual of the product. UV rays, rain and other elements will start to break it down over time and there is not an exact amount of time we can tell you for certain it will last.

  • Asked by Billy from Colt, Arkansas

    Q
What is an effective fogging agent to kill mosquitoes?
I have a small black flag propane fogger. Their ,black flag, agent is ineffective. I can't tell there is reduction of mosquitoes after fogging. I live in the eastern Arkansas delta and we have an aggressive population of mosquitoes.
    A

Shockwave would be the best option in a thermal fogger. Powerful fogging concentrate that delivers two killing agents, two synergists and an IGR for devastating insect control.

    Q
Proper delution rate if used in a thermal fogger
I'm planning to use Shockwave concentrate for outdoor applications using my thermal fogger. What is a proper delution rate to mineral oil?
    A
The dilution ratio of Shockwave depends on what and how you are treating. For example when using a space spray you would dilute 1part shockwave into nine parts oil. Please refer to the product label for the proper mixing ratio for your needs.

    Q
If Shockwave is used as a thermal fog in a food processing facility, is a wipe down required?
    A
Yes, you will have to wipe down any food processing surfaces or equipment that is contacted by the fog. The alternative would be to cover these areas or pieces of equipment prior to the fogging application.

  • Asked by Marie from Murfreesboro, Tn
    05/24/2016
    Q
Does Shockwave Fogging Concentrate come in a smaller size? How long does it keep?
I am interested in getting this for mosquito control, as fogging is so much faster than spraying, and this is said to have a residual effect. However, this amount would last me forever! Is there a smaller amount you can purchase, and if not what is the shelf life on this chemical?
    A

Shockwave Fogging Concentrate is not available in a smaller size.  The shelf life is 3-5 years from the date of purchase if stored at room temperature.

  • Asked by Patrick from New York, Ny
    08/19/2011
    Q
Does Shockwave have a scent? If so, how quickly does it dissipate?
    A
Shockwave does have a slight odor when first dispensed, but it does dissipate quickly.  If you are using Shockwave indoors as a fog than of course you need to vacate the premises for at least 3 hours after fogging.  If you are using Shockwave outside in a misting system of fogger, then you can re-enter the area much sooner.

  • Asked by Jeremy from Dallas, Tx

    Q
How much Shockwave Fogging Concentrate do I add to 1 gallon of water in a fogger for indoor roach control.
Didn't quite understand the dilution on label for inside residential fogging for roaches.
    A
Indoors, the dilution rate of Shockwave is rate of 1 (one) part concentrate to 9 (nine) parts oil and mix well. Apply at the rate of 5.0 fluid ounces per 1,000 cubic feet of space. Shockwave recommends a 1:9 ratio for infoor fogging. For example, if you wanted to mix up 1 gallon of diluted solution, you should to use 12.8 oz of Shockwave Fogging Concentrate mixed with 115.2 oz of oil and mix well. Please follow the product label for application.
