They work... but...

I've used these and the VM Products EZ Snap stations. Both use the Kness Snap-E traps. The traps themselves are some of the best I've ever used. If I could combine a couple features of the EZ snap stations and this cover, it would be the *perfect* product. The shortcomings of this product: 1) The lid fits very tightly and "snaps" into place. This "snap" action often triggers the traps, which then you have to open the cover, and then reset the traps and start all over. 2) The cover requires a "key" to open. There's really no reason for this. IF it just had a thumb tab or some other snug-fitting latch, it would still do what it needs to - protect the traps from dogs, squirrels, rabbits etc, and only catch mice. This is just one more "thing" to carry around when you're setting/baiting the traps. 3) it doesn't come with the traps... It says that in the description, and I already had the traps on hand, but it seems like a simple thing to sell a fully-loaded/capable unit assembly that is ready to use. The good: 1) the mice can see through the tunnel and have to go head-first into the traps and get caught easily and cleanly. 2) they are a nice size/form factor for tucking up tight to a wall or along a foundation. Suggestions: 1) add a zip tie to the snap arm of the trap and project it through the "peep" hole on the lid of the station. Mark it with a marker when the trap is snapped, so you can easily check traps to see if they've been triggered. Conclusion - it's fussy to close without trigging the traps, it doesn't come with the traps out of the box, and requires a key to open. For the money, I would buy the EZ Snap stations from VM products instead.
