    Q
Can I apply Snapshot 2.5 TG over the top of Buffalo Grass?
Customer has 7-8 year old buffalo grass lawn, very intermittent and patchy. They get many weeds in between patches of Buffalo Grass. Could we hold back the weeds with snapshot or do we risk damaging the buffalo grass?
    A

Snapshot 2.5 TG is not labeled to be used in lawns so would not be recommended over buffalograss.  It is for use only in landscape ornamentals, ground covers, perennials, non-bearing fruit and nut trees, container grown ornamentals, non-bearing vineyards, field-grown ornamentals and non-cropland.  For lawns you can use something like Pendulum.

You should not apply Snapshot 2.5 TG where you are going to put in new plants for at least one year, per the product label. You can apply around new transplants once the soil is settled by packing and irrigation or rainfall.

  • Asked by Dj from Omaha, Nebr
    04/22/2019
    Q
If Snapshot 2.5 HAS been applied to turfgrass... what can i do/expect?
    A

Snapshot 2.5 TG controls plants growing from seed. Snapshot 2.5 TG does not control established plants so your turf may be okay. Snapshot 2.5TG is not recommended for weed control in turfgrasses, but turfgrasses are generally tolerant to small amounts of this product that fall outside of the intended area of application.

  • Asked by Katrina from Troutville
    04/07/2019
    Q
How frequently can I apply Snapshot 2.5 TG?
I spread Snapshot over a large area today that has lots of weeds. When will I need to apply again? My weeds include Dandelion, wild onions, Thisle, clover & tall grasses. The bank is steep, eroded & difficult to walk on. Dandy's are just blooming now. This bank faces east & has a few evergreens & hardwoods. It's about 100 yds. long & 20 yds. at one end & triples that height at the other end. I use spread rite gravity flow hand spreader. It covers about a 3' spread. Thank you, Katrina
    A

You must wait at least 60 days between Snapshot 2.5 TG applications. You cannot apply more than 600 lbs per acre per year.

    Q
Can Snapshot be used with planting of Nassella trichotoma?
    A

Snapshot 2.5 TG - 50 lbs. does not list Nassella trichotoma as tolerant to an application. This does not appear to be something common to the US so the manufacturer does appear to have tested Snapshot around it.

    Q
Will Snapshot damage turf along edges of ornamental beds?
    A

Snapshot 2.5 TG - 50 lbs. would not harm the grass, it is just not labeled to be applied directly to turfgrass so could not be used in the actual lawn.  The small amount that could get into the edges would not affect the grass itself.

    Q
Is Snapshot 2.5 TG safe for birds? I have several species of birds that eat in my flower beds.
Last year after using Snap shot on my flower beds I noticed 4 dead male cardinals throughout the season.
    A

Snapshot 2.5 TG is safe around birds when used as directed on the product label.  It is best applied when they are not in the area and should be watered in immediately after application to avoid them ingesting any of the granules.  If you have more concerns, you may want to speak with the manufacturer directly at 317-337-3000.

    Q
Can I apply Snapshot in March?
    A

Since timing can vary widely by region, we recommend contacting your local county extension office for the best application timing in your specific area.  They will know exactly when you should apply a pre-emergent for best results.

  • Asked by Eddie from Santa Ana, Ca
    12/12/2018
    Q
Can Snapshot be applied directly on top of plants?
Can Snapshot be applied directly on top of established plants and then watered in or does it have to be applied around the established plants only?
    A

Snapshot 2.5 TG is best applied directly to the soil and then watered in as it is a pre-emergent herbicide.  If some granules get on the leaves during application, these should be knocked off if they do not come off after watering.

  • Asked by Carolyn from Little Rock, Ar
    10/23/2018
    Q
Do you have recommendations for using granular Snapshot on sloped landscape beds?
Has anyone had experience with this?
    A

Since Snapshot is a pre-emergent herbicide and needs to be watered in, you want to be sure the area is not so dry or sloped that the product will not just run out of the area when you water it. You may want to use sprinklers, a hose, or a watering can to moisten the treatment area first to help the granules stay in place before activating with water.

  • Asked by Ron from Savannah Ga
    09/16/2018
    Q
What is the recommended setting for Snapshot 2.5 on a Scotts speedy green 2000 spreader?
    A

We understand that it is tricky to know what setting to use on your spreader, but since there are so many available on the market, it is important to calibrate your Speedy Green equipment based on your application and the product you are using. For Snapshot 2.5 TG, you will use 2.3 to 4.6 pounds of granules per 1,000 square feet. Please refer to the product label for the best rates for the area you are treating and the weeds you are targeting. Please see below for more details on how to calibrate your spreaders. Many folks will start at either the lowest setting or at 1 settinglower than the middle setting. We also have an excellent instructional video here.

Almost all fertilizers, herbicides, insecticides, etc have treatments in amounts of so much product per 1000 square feet.  So if you can figure out what your walking speed is then you know anytime you apply any product that calls for so much of it per 1000 square feet, you always set your spreader on this setting.  You can calibrate this by marking off a 1000 square foot (10 x 100) area and placing 4 ounces of any type of product of similar granule size, or of the Snapshot in the spreader.  Start with a low setting and start walking your marked off area at a normal pace.  You can adjust as you go and find the basic setting for you to apply the product over a 1000 square feet.

    Q
Is Trifluralin a good pre-emergent for stiltgrass?
    A

Snapshot 2.5 TG - 50 lbs. is not labeled for stiltgrass. Most university studies recommend a product containing the active ingredient of Pendimethalin.  Pendulum 3.3EC contains that active ingredient, however it does not list stiltgrass specifically.
