  • Asked by Lois from Minnetonka, Mn

    Q
Will this work to treat my large dog of scabies mites? What concentration? Mixed in water or oil? Thank you.
My large afghan hound has scabies mites and is getting liquid ivermectin weekly. Not much success yet. I would like to do something topically for him. What is the concentration? What mixed with?
    A
The Southern Ag Natural Pyrthrin concentrate is not labeled for use on pets and would likely not control the mites. Mites on pets are normally mange mites, the pet version of scabies as scabies is what its called on humans. If you are already getting treatments from the vet then that is the steps you should follow unless they specifically recommend a product that is labeled for mites that is safe for use not only on your pet, but in conjunction with the product that is already being used. Mites on pets are not something you can normally get rid of quickly so its best to give the product from the vet time to work.

  • Asked by Sheryle from Texas Panhandle
    06/01/2014
    Q
Does Southern Ag Natural Pyrethrin Concentrate kill bed bugs and what about eggs and residual?
Does this kill bed bugs? If so, what is the ratio of mix to use? Can I combine it with something else to make it have a residual effect or work on the eggs? Thanks
    A

Southern Ag Natural Pyrethrin Concentrate is not labeled to treat eggs and it will only kill insects on contact only. Once the product has dried it is no longer on the surface to provide any killing power.  There are a few insecticides that claim to kill bedbug eggs. Phantom Aerosol, Steri-Fab and Bedlam. You should note that those insecticides that claim to kill bedbug eggs must be directly sprayed on the eggs and they are only about 75%-85% effective at actually killing the egg.

We offer Bed Bug kits that contain all of the different products, including Steri-Fab and Bedlam, that  you need to eliminate bedbugs and re-treatments should be done every 7-10 days until you do not receive a bite for 30 days.  We also highly recommend using Mattress and Boxspring encasements to help eliminate bedbug infestations. These bedbug proof covers will trap existing bedbugs and eliminate hiding places and make inspections easier.  Please take a few moments to read our Bed Bug Guide to learn more about eliminating bedbugs.

    Q
Does Southern Ag Natural Pyrethrin Concentrate kill spider mite eggs
    A
Southern AG is not labeled to treat eggs. You want to use an Insect Growth Regulator that will help to stop the reproductive cycle and cause fatal abnormalities to the immature mites. You could use Nyguard IGR mixed in with Southern AG Natural Pyrethrin. Nyguard is not yet labeled for mites, but we have had many, many customers effectively use this product with a residual to eradicate mites.

  • Asked by Laura from Dominican Republic
    05/14/2017
    Q
Does Southern Ag Pyrethrin Concentrate degrade in sunlight or rain?
I want to use this with my dogs,it says to re apply after 14 days. I have heard Pyrethrin looses its effect upon exposure to sunlight,I walk my dogs daily and they do walk in the sun many times in morning and evening. It's also very common for here to rain and they do sometimes get wet. I saw to information on these regarding the use on dogs. So. Does it looses its effect after these two?. Should I reapply after rain?. Or concerned about sunlight exposure?.
    A

Once Southern Ag Pyrethrin Concentrate has dried it is no longer on the surface to provide any killing power. It should be applied when you are not expecting any rainfall during the application and wh=ithin 24 hours of drying. It can be applied to dogs older than 12 weeks after consulting with the vet. Please refer to the product label application instructions as follows:"The To kill FLEAS, BROWN DOG TICKS, AND LICE ON DOGS and to obtain protection against re-infestation: Dilute at a rate of 1 part concentrate and 9 parts water and wet the animal by dipping or spraying. To kill SPINOSE EAR TICK: Dilute at the rate of 1 part concentrate and 24 parts of water and apply by individual treatment, syringing or pouring a few drops into the ears of dogs. For best results against fleas and ticks on dogs, the kennels or animal quarters and bedding should also be treated. Do not reapply product for 14 days."
