    Application rates for Ortho Dial-N-Spray
    I would like to use non-Ortho concentrates in my Dial-N-Spray sprayer but I cannot find conversion ratios. For cool-season turfgrasses I prefer Bonide Weed Beater Ultra, but its broadcast application rates are listed in pints per acre. I am treating 9000 square feet and have no idea what setting on my hose-end sprayer to use. For spring treatments next year I would also like to use Speedzone Red, which lists rates for ounces per thousand square feet and gallons per thousand square feet; not ounces per gallon.

    Generally, one gallon of mixed solution will treat 1,000 sq feet. So, Speedzone Red would be approx 1.5 fl oz per one gallon of mixed solution to treat 1000 sq. feet. Please follow the product labels for application. The same can be said for Bonide Weed Beater Ultra. the product label suggests mix 1.5 - 2.4 fl. oz into one gallon of water to treat 1000 square feet.

    Best herbicide to kill Pennsylvania Smartweed in turf during mid to late spring in Pennsylvania?
    Have a very stubborn and dense infestation of Pennsylvania Smartweed. Have used Speedzone last couple of years only to have it come back again. What am I doing wrong? Should I try another product, maybe Surge? Do I need to add anything to a herbicide?

    SpeedZone will only kill the weeds that you spray directly it does not prevent anything from coming back.  You can help prevent the smartweed from coming back by using a pre-emergent such as Weed Impede to help prevent it from growing.

    What type of surfactant should I use with SpeedZone?

    It is not necessary to use a surfactant when applying SpeedZone Broadleaf Herbicide for Turf and it actually says on the label that adding a surfactant could reduce the selectivity on the turfgrass. Please look at the label for application instructions.

    Can I use speed zone around trees and bushes?
    I have a major weed problem around my trees, bushes and lawn. I want to kill the weeds but do not want to damage the other vegetation. I also want to plant more vegetation once I have the weeds gone. Should I use roundup or speed zone weed killer?
    A
    If you want to plant other vegetation once the weeds are gone you have to use a round up type product since glyphosate, the active ingredient in round up, does not stay for long in the soil.  If you apply speed zone or other selective herbicides, you will not be able to plant any other vegetation for some time.  The quickest way is to spot treat weeds with a glyphosate product.  We carry a full line of professional weed killers that are actually much cheaper per finished gallon than over the counter round up.

    We cannot answer your question without more information.  Mixing instructions depend on what type of grass you have, how large of an area, and what type of weeds you are treating.  All of the mixing instructions are on the product label.  Just look on the label for the type of grass that you have and then it will tell you how much to mix per 1000 square feet based on the weeds you are treating.

    Can SpeedZone Red be used on Floratam or Centipede grass?
    A

    While SpeedZone Red is labeled to control creeping beggarweed, it is not labeled for use on Floratam St. Augustine but is for Centipede.

    Celsius WG is labeled for creeping beggarweed in Floratam and Centipedes grasses and when used as directed on the product label will do a great job helping you eliminate this pest weed

    What's the difference between Speedzone Red and just Speedzone?
    looking for the most 2-4-D i can get for my lawn/yard.

    There was a recent name change on this product; it was called Speedzone Red and is now just Speedzone Herbicide with a red label. This product does contain 2,4-d and is used on Kentucky blue grass, perennial ryegrass, fescue, bentgrass, common bermuda grass and zoysiagrass.

    Can Quinclorac be mixed with SpeedZone Herbicide?
    Using this for a broadcast spray on a cool season lawn. I have already put down a pre-emergent, but some crabgrass already exists in the lawn.

    You could potentially mix SpeedZone Herbicide with a quinclorac product to broaden the spectrum of weed control. Something to keep in mind, though, is that most quinclorac products require the addition of a methylated seed oil (MSO) surfactant to help cut through the waxy coating on the target plants for best results. Adding this kind of 2-way surfactant with SpeedZone could increase sensitivity on your desirable turfgrass. We recommend first performing a small jar test for compatability, and then treating a small area with this tank mix for tolerance before mixing a large batch and/or treating the entire area.

    The rate of SpeedZone Broadleaf Herbicide for Turf - Gallon will vary depending on the grass type being treated. According to the product label when treating cool-season grass like Kentucky Bluegrass and Annual Ryegrass, etc. you will use 1.1- 1.8 fl oz of product per 1,000 sq ft area. When treating warm season grass like Bermuda, and Zoysiagrass you will use 0.75- 1.5 fl oz of product per 1,000 sq ft area.

    Does SpeedZone Red Herbicide contain dicamba?

    Speedzone Red Herbicide does list Dicamba as one of the active ingredients on the label. The active ingredients are: carefen trazone-ethyl .62% 2, 4-D, 2 Ethylhexyl Ester 28.57% Mecoprop-p Acid 5.88% and dicamba acid 1.71%.

    I usually buy the speed zone lawn weed killer but I need it in bulk this time. Is this the same product or is it different. If it's different, how is it different and what product should I use instead of this (if this product is incorrect)

    SpeedZone Lawn Weed Killer Concentrate contains the same percentages of active ingredient as the larger SpeedZone Broadleaf Herbicide for Turf - Gallon.  Only the product size is different.

    South tx. Will this stuff kill crabgrass etc.
    Will this product kill grassy weeds.

    SpeedZone Red is labeled to treat over 100 different varieties of broadleaf weeds only, crabgrass is a grassy weed so it would not work for it.   Could you please tell us what type of grass you have so that we can make a better recommendation?

    Can I use Speedzone Red on Tiff green Hybrid bermuda grass lawns?

    You can use Speedzone on hybrid Bermuda.  However, you should not apply it if the grass is stressed for any reason or if it is stressed from drought.  You should also not apply it in temperatures over 90 degrees.  Speedzone can cause the hybrid bermuda to yellow temporarily if you apply it while stressed.

    SpeedZone Herbicide is most effective when applied when temps are between 60-75 degrees. The temperaturess do not have to stay in that range after treated area has dried.

    Do not broadcast apply Speedzone when air temperatures exceed 90 degrees Fahrenheit. Injury to desirable plants may occur and efficacy may also be impacted.
