How To Get Rid Of Springtail Bugs

•    Prevent Them From Entering Your Home

Because they are usually a garden pest, keeping springtails outside of your home is the most effective way to keep a large infestation from occurring. The best way to achieve this goal is to treat the exterior of your home with some kind of barrier insecticide, usually a pyrethroid or similar product. This will kill any insects that try to enter your home, whether they are springtails or one of the more common household pests.

•     Treat Your Garden With Insecticides

This is a good all-around tip for controlling and eliminating garden pests, including springtails. There are numerous products available that are specifically tailored to use in gardens and other green areas. Many of these are natural and organic, and as such are usually non-toxic. Some of these products such as Diatomaceous Earth and Boric Acid are incredibly effective at reducing the number of springtails in any one location. By treating in this manner, you also reduce the chances that any infestation will occur inside your home.

•    Sometimes More Power Is Called For

Although the natural options can be useful for springtail elimination, occasionally you’ll need something more powerful to kill them, especially inside the home or if there are large numbers of them. For situations such as this, the pyrethroid family of insecticides are great for getting rid of springtails. Products such as Talstar P and Bifen IT are great for killing these pests and returning both your home and your garden to a bug free state.
