Something is wrong with my yard or these seeds or both, but they did not take root. So I gave it three stars. I need help. Can I get some advice on how to plant and grow seeds on tan dirt?

We do apologize that the grass seed you purchased is not growing as expected. We have spoken with the manufacturer and they have stated that the only time they have seen the seed fail to germinate was when it was planted too deep, where it could not get the right amount of sunlight and moisture to grow or prep work was not done completely. Seeding a lawn does take time and the right conditions and prep work to ensure success and if everything that needs to be done is not happening, then the seed will not germinate until it is done. Many people do not understand this and just throw the seed down, water for a time and assume it will work. They have advised us to ask firstly, what are you seeing at this moment? Also, we have been asked to confirm the following questions.. Are there weeds in the area that can shade/crowd the soil that the seed is in and prevent it from getting sunlight? Are you treating these weeds? Are you seeing any seedlings of the grass at all? What type of ground prep did you do before laying down the seed? Did you apply any type of pre-emergent herbicide prior to seeding, if so when? From ground prep until now, what have you done? Are you still watering the lawn, if so how often? How often are you mowing? We appreciate your response and cooperation in working with us to provide more information about your application.

I live in South Central Kansas. Yard is very sandy to sandy loam. I’ve tried several types of seed from big box to nursery “local blends”. This product has blown them all away. It’s growing in areas I’ve never been able to grow seed. Germination rate was very high and I noticed the seed coming up within 6 days of planting. I killed the yard with glyphosate, raked up the dead grass, broke up the top inch or two of soil with an ATV plow, lightly raked with a pull behind de-thatcher, spread the seed with a walk around spreader, applied Fertilome new lawn fertilizer, and raked a bit more. I also put a light coat of seed on top of everything. In the months prior, I added a sprinkler system to keep the seed moist until germination. Lots of work, but worth it in the end. Nice young thick lawn in Mid Oct. hopefully, as the grass matures, it’ll get even better.

I'm from Nebraska. I struggle to grow grass or anything else. Tilled up about 2500 sq ft to a depth of 1". Spread the seed very heavy. Drug it with a harrow and drove over it with my 4 wheeler to compct. Set sprinklers to water every 3 hours for 5 minutes. After only 5 DAYS I had a lot of grass showing! Been 8 days now and I'm ecstatic. It's coming in very thick. This stuff is the bomb!

Seed is great, but this year waited too long to overseed. (3 month drought). Planted late September,...grass is slow germinating and growing. Early September planting is better.

Seeded multiple areas of yard where warm season grass would not grow, literally bare dirt, light shade. Aerated, added compost, scarified ground multiple times, added starter fertilizer and planted seed, top dressed with peat moss. Watered 3 times a day and within 5 days had grass!!!! It has continued to grow thicker. I bought more seed to have extra because I used every bit of the 25 pounds Initially purchased. Love it!

After this new seed became somewhat established, I noticed weeds appearing. Now I have an infestation of chickweed! Clearly, this seed wasn't pure, as stated, and had weed seeds in it. I completely killed all of my old lawn with RoundUp two weeks before having a professional plant the seed. Very disappointed! Especially considering the cost.

I'm awaiting germination of my grass seed, which appears to be actually working as there is a light green undercoat appearing. I've been trying to re-seed my crabgrass-covered lawn for several years. I finally killed most of the crabgrass in February and I've done my best to scarify the ground in preparation for these seeds. Have done several rounds of seeding to try to catch the right weather conditions in this turbulent Arkansas spring season. Hoping for the best, and I think it's going to work this time!

I wanted to plant new grass and needed something that would tolerate the hot Texas summer. Seeds are coming up so I am pleased.

I had sod put down in our back yard and the company I hired used a bag of this seed to spread into all of the cracks and seams between the sod square. After a couple of weeks of daily watering this grass seed sprouted up and has only thrived since. Months later, I had a rather large area in my front yard which was eroding so I bought a 25lb bag for to see if I could fix it and get some grass back. This spot was historically hard to get anything to grow. Again, a couple of weeks after spreading and daily watering this seed came up and the grass is greener and more alive than ever. It’s stopped the erosion and neighbors are asking me about “my trick” to green grass. I just send them a picture of this seed and they are on their way to a greener, fuller lawn. Thanks!

I bought two 50 pound bags about three weeks apart. The first bag was great. The seeds germinated and grew grass in about 10 days with very little weeds. The second bag also germinated and started growing fast but it had a lot of weeds and I will have to deal with weed control to get my yard looking great.

Won't know how good it is until it germinates. It's pricey, so it better.

When ordered this seed I was concerned about shipping and was told it is shipped a box to protect. Arrived early and excellent shape. Like 5 Star seed for a winter yard. I live in Arkansas, the humidity and heat kills a year round lawn, but I overseed each fall and spring.

Put this seed out immediately after lawn core aeration. Lightly watered several times a day. Germination noticed within 4 days and continuing. With better fall weather, hopefully will fill in nicely.

Did a late summer planting of this last year,(Mid August), as we didn't have the option to water the seed. Got enough rain to get it going with most spouting within 2 weeks. Has really taken off nicely since. Picked up this order to fill in any thinner spots.

Came right on time. We've sown the grass and our lawn is transforming from UGH! To WOW! We'll see what happens as spring progresses into summer.

This blend of dwarf tall fescue grass seeds is different from what was shown in the product details, but it is a better blend. The blend will differ year to year based upon the crop availability. The seed is grown in Oregon and the drought and fire problems will affect the seed crop production. Expect the type and quantity of each of the seed types in the blend to be different than what is advertised. But the seed blend will be the dwarf tall fescue seed types. The seed types in what I received were better than those advertised.

Two days after I spread the 5 Star Fine Fescue seed it began to come up. Two weeks later, I have the beginnings of a beautiful lawn. Thank you DoMyOwn.

Germination was initially fairly quick but the top growth is very slow in coming and the blades are very thin. After three weeks blades are only 2 inches in many areas and many open areas in the yard where seed is just sitting dormant. Temps and moisture seem to be ideal as neighbors' yards are flush w/ new seedlings that did not use this blend. These are not medium bladed seeds and tilling is yet to be determined for full coverage. yard was aerated and top dressed but seeds were only shallow covered with light dusting, even starter fertilizer has failed to make any noticeable difference. Will not be using again as i now have to over seed again with a different blend.

I live in the mountains of NC. I’ve tried every version of big box seed and local nursery varieties. This seed BY FAR is the best I’ve used. It germinated like the label said. It’s green and lush. I hope it continues this way thru the next year.

After having fescue grass sodded in the Spring, this Fall was the first time to over-seed. At the advise of a neighbor who has had fescue for many years, I ordered this seed. When I went online to DoMyOwn and typed in what I was looking for, I had trouble finding the exact thing at first. But eventually I found it after several searches. After that, the ease of ordering and fast delivery was great! I will certainly come back.

PLANTED SEED ABOUT 2 WEEKS AGO AND IS ALREADY PENETRATING THE GROUND. HAVE NOT HAD THIS RESULT WITH 3 OTHER TYPES OF SEED THAT I HAVE PLANTED. TIME WILL TELL BUT 100% SATISFIED AT THIS POINT.
