Vacuuming is just as important to carpet beetle elimination as it is to prevention. While liquid and dust insecticides may successfully kill off the adult and larvae stages, they can not kill eggs and pupae. Vacuuming is an effective way to kill these hard-to-eliminate life stages of carpet beetles. When vacuuming, be sure to do so every couple of days while you work your elimination plan. Vacuum over carpeted areas several times and use attachments as need to cover furniture and draperies. Eggs may be hiding in these places as well. Even if you do not reach every egg and pupae with the vacuum, don't worry. Your odorless insecticide such as Suspend SC will still be working, and eventually there will be no more surviving adults to lay more eggs and you will see the end of your problem! You could also apply Drione Dust using a hand duster only after Suspend SC has application had completely dried. Dust should be applied with a hand duster into all cracks and crevices where the spray cannot penetrate. This birth control for insects can be added directly to your liquid insecticide solution (Suspend SC) in the sprayer before spraying. That way you will apply two insecticides at once. While Suspend kills the adult carpet beetles, the Gentrol IGR will kill off the larvae so they are unable to fully develop.
Yes, Suspend SC can be applied with a mist blower or a backpack sprayer.
Suspend SC is labeled for ants. Gentrol IGR is not labeled for ants. Getting rid of ants can be tough because of their opportunistic nature. Most species are able to nest indoors and outdoors in a wide variety of places and they can survive on a wide variety of food sources. To effectively get rid of ants you usually need to include proper indoor and outdoor sanitation as well as an actual pesticide treatment which includes a mixture of baiting and spraying.
We would recommend using our Outdoor/Indoor Ant Kit. It comes with everything you will need to do a complete ant treatment.
Please check out our Ant Guide for information on how to treat and prevent ants as well.
Per the Suspend SC product label: For control of carpet beetles, fleas and ticks indoors, apply as a coarse, low pressure crack and crevice spot treatment to problem areas and infested habitats. Do not treat entire floor, carpet or floor coverings. Do not apply as a space spray. Application to furniture should be restricted to areas where prolonged contact by humans will not occur. Care should be taken to limit spot treatment to pet beds and infested floor coverings.
The Ultracide you ordered is a fantastic option for indoor broadcast treatments as it has a knock down and residual as well as an IGR within the can. Be sure to vacuum at least every other day to stimulate egg hatch and pull up any live or dead adults and feces.
Please see our Flea Treatment Guide for more tips and information.
No, Suspend SC is a crack and crevice treatment only and is not labeled for scabies. Scabies mites live on/in the skin and we do not carry anything to treat humans. Most folks need to visit their doctor to receive the medication needed to get rid of scabies. You may spray your furniture with a product such as Steri-fab to kill anything on furniture, though treating the home is usually not necessary.
Suspend SC will kill adult fleas. To take care of the immature fleas, you want to incorporate an IGR. You can mix in Precor IGR with the Suspend and water. Please see our Flea Guide for the best tips and videos for Flea control and prevention. You should also be sure to treat the animals with products approved for this use.

Suspend SC should be applied to indoor cracks and crevices when the dog is not present during the application and while wet. Once the treated surfaces have completely dried, the dog can return inside.
Suspend SC is labeled to eradicate roaches including German roaches that come into contact with the treated areas. This should not be the only product used for treatment. We recommend that you incorporate an insect growth regulator (IGR) and a professional roach bait gel (in areas that are not treated with Suspend SC). Please take a few moments to review our treatment article, How to Get Rid of Roaches Article, for more helpful information.
Suspend SC is a residual product so it will not kill a tick if sprayed directly. The amount of time the product takes to kill will depend on the pest in general. It could take one week or just a few days.
Suspend SC is labeled for roaches, and should do a great job helping you eliminate the infestation. You would use .25 to 1.5 ounces per gallon of water. We recommend that in addition to a concentrated liquid insecticide like Suspend SC you also use a high quality roach bait gel, as well as an insect growth regulator to help stop the breeding cycle of the roaches. We would actually recommend one of our Roach Control Kits. We also have some great advice here "How To Treat for Roaches".
Suspend SC will not harm animals as long as it is used as directed. You will need to keep pets out of the area while you are applying the product and until it has dried completely. You may notice a reduction in the population of birds, snakes, and lizards over time, since Suspend SC will be killing the insects that are their food source, which will cause them to leave the area in order to find food elsewhere.
We contacted Solo and they said that any herbicide or insecticide (including Suspend SC and Suspend Polyzone) can be used in the Solo Mist Blower 451. So any product that would be diluted with water in the tank will work fine.
Yes, Suspend SC may be used in hose-end sprayers. Be sure to check the instructions for the hose-end sprayer that you are using as some hose-end sprayers require water to be added to the resevoir with the insecticide, while other hose-end sprayers do not. Make sure to shake the Suspend SC well prior to use.
