    Can you use Talstar PL on the exterior of the house, in winter, with snow on the ground?
    my pest control company put granular around the exteriot of my home with snow on the ground. they said it was a pre-spring treatment

    We cannot comment on the work of a pest control company for liability reasons. What we can say is that this type of application will not hurt anything and that it is industry standard to apply exterior treatments when snow is not on the ground so that the soil will not be frozen and can accept the treatment.

    Can I use Talstar pl if i have a citrus tree in my yard
    I have 1 satsuma tree in my yard and i do not know if i can use talstar pl in the grass around it

    You can use Talstar Pl, because it wont leach into the soil. We would not recommend applying right up against the tree. Depending on what you are treating for you can use Monterey Fruit tree spray. Please let us know if you have any more questions.

    Do you have a product that will kill frogs
    I have frogs all over my porch at night and they make a huge mess and want to jump on me when I am sitting outdoors
    A

    There are no toxic products labeled for frogs or toads (or reptiles for that matter), and given the highly beneficial nature of these amphibians there is not likely to be anything coming along.The reasons they are on your property are because they can find food and proper habitat, and these are probably your only means for making them go away. Take away their food and they will forage somewhere else. Take away the conditions they need for hiding all day and they will seek refuge someplace else.

    Habitat modification may be the more effective way to limit frogs on your property. Frogs are mainly nocturnal, and they seek food at night when it is cooler and damper. During the day they look for cool, damp, dark places to hide. They will hide under dense shrubbery or ground covers, under logs or lumber on the soil, or under large landscape rocks and timbers to avoid the hot, dry sun. Trim shrubbery, remove thick ground-cover, stack lumber or firewood off of the soil a few inches and remove any other objects or debris that come in contact with the soil and can provide harborage. Limit watering to help eliminate moisture from your yard.  You can also reduce the amount of insects (the frogs food source) in your yard by treating the grass with a residual insecticide such as Talstar PL.

    Will Talstar PL Granules affect grass seed?
    I have my back yard ready to plant seed. There are quite a few ants, and some mosquitoes. I am considering using this product in conjunction (before, after, or simultaneously) with the grass seed. Is this safe?

    No, Talstar PL Granules is an insecticide, so it has no effect on germinating grass or turf whatsoever.  It will not harm, inhibit, or promote any kind of growth in turf grass.

    Talstar Pl will not harm small animals. As long as animals and children are kept out of the area during the application and for about an hour following the watering in you should not have any issues with toxicity.

    Will the Talstar PL Granules help kill grasshoppers?
    I have one acre and 10 million grasshoppers of all sizes. Liquids kills but more just hatch. I think they are in our trees also.
    A
    While granules do provide a more long term residual on the ground, it may or may not control the grasshoppers any better than a liquid. The ingredient in the Talstar, Bifenthrin, is one of our number one products for controlling grasshoppers. You should start applications before the grasshoppers have a chance to hatch. You should thoroughly spray your lawn and water in the application with about a .25 in of water to help the bifenthrin get past the thatch layer and into the soil where grass hoppers actually develop. If you already have grasshoppers you can use Talstar P at the highest usage rate of 1 oz of product per 1 gallon of water for the quickest knockdown.

    When can my dog return to yard after applying Talstar PL granular insecticide?

    Pets and people need to stay out of the area being treated while the Talstar PL granules are being applied and watered in, but they are safe to return as soon as the treated area has completely dried.

    Which is more effective for killing scorpions -- granular or solution Talstar?
    I have a serious scorpion problem on my ranch since I don't go out there very often. Every time I go out to the hill country, I spray Talstar solution and it works great. I am wondering which is more effective and which lasts longer in this dry climate -- the solution or granular form of Talstar? Or are they the same?
    A
    Granules can typically last 2-3 months whereas liquids like Talstar P will last about 30 days maybe more on outside surfaces.  For scorpions specifically you would want to go with the Cy-Kick CS that will sit on top of the surface better than granules and being microencapsulated will last on outside surfaces closer to 60 days.  The Talstar PL granules would be great to use for the insects the scorpions feed on though.

    Can you put down Talstar PL in cold weather? What is lowest temp to put out?

    Talstar PL Granular Insecticide can be put down then the ground is not frozen and you have active pests.  Typically above 55 is best but if pests are active and there is no snow you can use.

    If I plant fruiting vegetables 5 weeks after the Talstar application, will they be safe to eat 8 weeks later?
    My pest control company treated the soil in early April. I planted tomatoes, beans, cucumbers, squash, and peppers 5 weeks later in May, and the fruits will not start to set until July which will be 3 months after the Talstar granule application. Will they be safe to eat? If not, how long will it take for the soil to be safe enough for me to plant fruiting vegetables? I read that farmers use bifenthrin (Talstar's active ingredient) granules for systemic pest control in their peanuts crop. If so, are fruiting vegetables safer to eat than leafy vegetables like lettuce? Thank you.

    I have chickens that eat bugs and grass is Talstar safe. Also I am on well water what is the leach depth?

    Talstar PL should not be used in places where the chickens will feed on the grass. Talstar P does not move through the soil more than a few inches. You should apply Talstar P at least 5 ft away from the well.

    How does Talstar PL work? Are pests killed on contact?

    Talstar PL Granules manages insects by paralyzing the central nervous system through contact and ingestion. However, Talstar PL Granules do not kill insects on contact. It does take some time for insects to fall victim to the effects of the insecticide.

    See your listing on BestBuy. It says Diazinon next to the Talstar PL title.
    It's my understanding that Seven and Diazinon are organophosphates which are very toxic to earthworms and pollinators, not to mention mammals. Does Talstar PL granules contain diazinon or is this a misprint?

    Diazinon was banned in the US in 2004 so many customer have looked for products that would do an equal job to Diazinon since it was taken off the market. Talstar in both its liquid and granular form are going to give comparable control but without the huge health hazards to humans and beneficial insects. Talstar has the least dermal toxicity of any product on the market for pyrethroids and is designed to have minimal effect on beneficial insects like earthworms. We link the name Diazinon to the product so those looking for a replacement have a great safe product to find.

    What is the pet safety when using Talstar PL Granules?
    I understand that it is safe for our dog once watered in and the area has dried. However, what about when the lawn is wet again in the future? Can our dog only enter our yard when it is dry?

    As you mentioned, once the Talstar PL Granules have been watered in and have dried, it is safe for the pets to resume normal activity in the yard. Ideally, you want 6 hours after it has dried before any rain or irrigation occurs to allow the product plenty of time to stick in its place in the lawn. After that point any watering, rain or other form of irrigation will not “re-activate” the granules to make it unsafe for the pet. They can safely walk across the lawn with dew or rain after that time frame.

    Is Talstar PL granules effective for cockroaches migrating from an infested home next door ?
    A
    Talstar PL granules are not labeled for cockroaches. We would recommend using Bifen IT. This product has the same active ingredient as Talstar PL, however the concentrate has more of the active ingredient in it and will combat the cockroaches effectively. It is a liquid and can be broadcast across your lawn. It can also be sprayed on trees (non-edibles), flowers, shrubs, etc. You will mix 1 fl. oz. per gallon of water. One gallon will treat 1000 sq. ft. The residual outdoors is up to 30 days. Bifen IT can also be used indoors as a crack and crevice spray along the baseboards in your home. The residual indoors is up to 90 days. Please let us know if you have any additional questions.

    Can I spread Talstar PL in my flower beds to kill millipedes?
    This spring, after a wet winter, most of my root type perennials were devoured by millipedes. I want to plant new plants for summer and fall. Should I spread the product before planting or does it matter?

    No, Talstar PL granules should not be used in a flower bed. It is labeled mainly for turf use.

    We would recommend using Bifen IT for your ornamental plants. It can be sprayed directly on the plants and is labeled specifically for millipedes as well as various other pests as well. You will use 1 oz. of the solution per gallon of water.
