Talstar P Professional Insecticide - Questions & Answers

Talstar P can be used indoors and outdoors for above ground termite control and for trenching around teh structure for a barrier protection from Subterranean Termites Indoors, active termite colonies can be directly treated by drilling into the wall or hard to reach area where activity is detected and injecting/spraying the mixed soluiton directly into the wall void. Apply at the 0.06% dilution rate (1 fl oz per gallon of water). 

Talstar P is odorless and very safe for use around children and pets. This is one of the top choices for general pest control as it is labeled for over 75+ insects and can be also applied to lawns, ornamentals, bushes, trees, shrubs, etc The residual inside is 90 days and 30 day residual outdoors. 

Indoor applications for general pest control are applied along baseboards, under sinks, cabinets, around windows and doors, in corners, closets, etc. 

Talstar P Professional Insecticide is not labeled to be used in vegetable gardens or on edibles. 
Fertilome Triple Action is labeled to be used on vegetables, fruits, herbs and shrubs for insect control. 

The Talstar P Professional Insecticide does state that care should be taken when spraying near or around reptiles. While it isn't directly labeled for them but it is toxic to reptiles like snakes. 

Yes, Talstar P can be applied as directed on the label to Floratam, St. Augustine turf for listed pests once monthly.

Yes, you can apply Talstar P Professional Insecticide in your garage as per the label instructions to cracks and crevices quarterly.

Yes, Talstar P Professional Insecticide is labeled for bedbugs and should be applied at the highest concentration of 1 fl oz per gallon of water. According to the product label: "Thorough application should be made to crack and crevices where evidence of bed bugs occurs. This includes bed frames, box springs, inside empty dressers and clothes closets and carpet edges, high and low wall moldings and wallpaper edges. Do not use this product on bed linens, pillows, mattresses or clothes. Remove all clothes and other articles from dressers or clothes closets before application. Allow all treated areas to thoroughly dry before use.
Important note from the manufacturer: “Not recommended for use as sole protection against bedbugs. If evidence of bedbugs is found in/on mattresses, use products approved for this use."

The most effective treatment for active bed bug infestations would be using a combination of products as we have in one of our Bed Bug Kits. These kits are based on how many bedrooms you have and contain enough product for the initial application and 2-3 follow up treatments that are required for bes results. Repeat treatments should be done every 7-10 days until you can go 30 days without seeing any signs of bed bugs or without anyone getting bit.

Talstar P is our most popular product for general pest control. labeled for over 75 different insects and can be used both inside and outside the home. If any of the rental properties has an active German Roach infestation, a combination of products would be the best approach. Temprid FX Insecticide, in addtion to a roach gel bait and insect growth regulator would be the most effective treatment. These products are all safe to be used around kids and pets when applied per the product labels and once the application has dried. Keep kids and pets out while treating. 

How to Get Rid of Roach Treatment Guide 

Talstar P Professional Insecticide is safe for pets if used as directed on the manufacturer's product label.  Both people and pets should be removed from the area while the product is being applied, and once the treated area has completely dried, people and pets can re-enter the treated area.
 

Storing Talstar P Professional Insecticide in a room temperature enviroment (between 45 and 75 degrees) would give you the best shelf life. If you are storing it outside in a shed when there is freezing temps & the product were to freeze, it would need to be disposed of 

Yes, Talstar P is labeled for stink bugs and lady bugs. The mixing ratio is 1 fl. oz. per gallon of water. This will be used to spray around baseboards, cracks and crevices to help kill those that contact a treated area.

The Overwintering Kit is an excellent combination of products that protects you during your winter months with an insecticide and a dust. We generally do recommend at least using a dust with any other product, such as Talstar P, that you are using as an added protection to consider using throughout the year.

The rate for Talstar P Professional Insecticide will depend on the target pest and area you need to treat.  Please refer to the product label for complete instructions.

When applying Talstar or most other insecticides, it is best applied during dry weather and you want to make sure the product has at least 6 hours of full dry time prior to rain or watering to ensure it is completely rainfast though 24 hours is best.  At the highest rate it has a residual up to 30 days.

Yes, Talstar P Professional Insecticide is labeled for scale. You mix it at .5 per gallon & spray directly on the tree trunk as well as the foliage and stems. You may also consider doing a drench around with the base with Dominion 2L Termiticide before they are active for prevention.

Talstar P is not labeled to treat any edible vegetation, so it should NOT be sprayed on the fruit, the tree, the soil around the tree, or the root zone. The manufacturer does recommend that you discard any fruit from the tree for this growing season if the tree was sprayed with Talstar P. 
 
We would recommend that you use Monterey Fruit Tree and Vegetable Systemic Soil Drench in the future because it is labeled for fruit trees. Please see the product label for additional information.

Talstar did come in an aerosol can, Talstar Aerosol, but has been discontinued by the manufacturer.

Talstar P can be used around these type of facilities as long as it used according to the label and applied to cracks and crevices down low near the floor.

You should not spray any edible vegetation such as pear trees with Talstar P. You should contact your local cooperative extension office for recommendations, as we are not sure what type of ant you are dealing with. The folks at the extension office are usually very well versed with local insects and what works best for them.

Please contact your local cooperative extension for advice on fertilizers. We have only recently branched into this area and are not yet giving advice on fertilizers.

Asian beetles are generally seen as beneficial in gardens as they eat other bugs that are known to cause damage to plants. If this is not a vegetable garden and you need to get rid the Asian beetles, you can use Talstar P at a rate of 1 ounce per gallon of water. If you need to spray a vegetable or herb garden, you should contact your local cooperative extension office and seek further advice based on the type of plant that needs to be treated.
