    Q
How long after I spray Talstar P/Archer IGR will I start seeing fewer mosquitoes? I am using a backpack mister.
    A

This will depend on how large the population is in the area. For a faster knockdown, you can add a contact killing product such as ExciteR Insecticide. Please be sure to review the product label for more information.

    Q
    Do talstar kill moles?
    A

No, Talstar P (Talstar One) is not labeled for moles or grubs and most likely will not provide satisfactory results when used to control them. We do have several products that are specifically labeled for grub worms on our website: Grub Worm Control. We also recommend that you contact your local cooperative extension office and inquire about the best time to start treatments for grubs in your region. In many parts of the country, the grubs are already matured and they are emerging as adult beetles. For more products and treatment information, please check out our article on How to Get Rid of Moles.

    Q
    Is it safe around pets?
I have a teddy bear dog. I don't want it to harm him.
    A

People and pets need to be out of the area while you make the application of Talstar P and until the treated area is completely dry. Once the treated area is completely dry, then it is safe to resume normal activity. Please be sure to review the product label for more information and complete application instructions.

    Q
Does this product help prevent fleas from laying eggs/kills the life cycle of fleas?
    A

Talstar P is an insecticide only, it is not an IGR nor does it contain an IGR. Talstar is not really a great choice for indoor flea control because it can not be broadcast sprayed over floors where the fleas tend to harbor.  Please take a few moments to review our treatment article on How to Get Rid of Fleas for more information on flea eradication.

    Q
What mix ratio for roses? Oz per gallon?
    A

The mix rate for Talstar P is .5 - 1 oz. per gallon however, Talstar can be applied to any bushes, shrubs, trees, and landscaped areas as well as flowering plants like roses.  However, you should minimize the spray on the actual flowering rose as you do not want it to get on any bees that help with pollination.

  • Asked by Ivano from Long Island, Ny

    Q
How to apply Talstar P to treat chiggers?
I use talstar in a mist blower for treating mosquitoes and ticks. A customer asked me to treat chiggers as well and I know talstar is effective in killing them. Can I use the mist blower with talstar at a rate if 1oz per gallon to kill chiggers in the lawn or is there a different application method that would be more effective? Also, what would be the application frequency to achieve control of this pest?
    A

Talstar P is labeled for chiggers outdoors at 1 fl oz per gallon of water per 1,000 sq ft with a pump sprayer every 30 days. Treatments for chiggers should begin in May and could need to continue through the summer as new chiggers move into the area. Treating the entire lawn is of little benefit because chiggers avoid direct sunlight and normally will not infest areas that are mowed or otherwise well maintained. Focus treatment on the unkempt areas of the lawn and lawn edge.

    Q
Which Talstar product is best for perimeter control/outdoor application for Mosquitoes? I live in Mn.
    A

Talstar P Professional Insecticide is our most popular selling product for mosquito control.  It is a liquid concentrate that you mix with water and apply using a one gallon hand pump sprayer.  The key is to apply it to all shrubs, trees, and other foliage around the house or patio you are trying to provide relief at.  It should be directed not only on top of the leaves and plants, but on the underside of the leaves as well which is where the mosquitoes hang out.  It should be applied every 30 days for optimum control.  Best of all it will not harm any birds in the area.
