    Q
Talstar One and Bifen IT are supposed to kill Fungus Gnat larve, but the label says 'adult gnat.'
What can I use to KILL the larve?
    A
The Talstar and Bifen will only kill the adults as the larvae is protected in its egg form much like a chicken egg is protected until cracked. To control the larvae you would need to mix the NyGuard IGR(birth control) in with the Bifen or Talstar. NyGuard is labled for fungus gnats as well as a large variety of other insects to sterilize the adults from being able to lay viable larvae. This will control the population drastically in keeping new ones from developing. You should mix 1 ounce of Talstar/Bifen with 4 ml of NyGuard IGR to each gallon of water you use.

    Q
Can Talstar P and Termidor SC be mixed together for one application?
Also, I have a massive wasp problem around my lawn my house and my shed if I do this treatment will it kill them and keep them gone for a long period of time?
    A
Termidor SC is a non-repellent insecticide. This means the insects cannot tell that it is there and they will readily walk over treated areas. Termidor SC also has a delayed reaction time and a transfer effect which allows them time to get back to the colony and spread it around before they succumb to the effects of the product. Talstar P on the other hand is synthetic pyrethroid which many sensitive insects such as ants can detect. Insects may avoid the areas treated with Talstar and those that do cross over treated areas are the only ones that will be killed by the product. Talstar P does not have a transfer effect so it will not be transferred back to the colony. While the Termidor SC will not actually be deactivated by Talstar P, it will be much less effective if it is over-sprayed with Talstar P. You can spray Talstar P on your trees, bushes and lawn for mosquito control as long as you are not actually overlapping the areas where Termidor SC was applied.

Wasp Freeze is a product that will kill wasps if they are sprayed mid-air; however for long-term results, it works best on exposed nests that you can spray directly. If you see where they are entering, we recommned that you use a hand duster and apply a dust such as Tempo dust to the holes where the wasps are going in and out. The dust will help eliminate the wasps in the nest and any other wasps returning to the nest. Tempo dust will stay effective for several months as long as it is dry. After dusting in the void where the wasps have a built a nest you can try spraying the siding with a product such as Talstar P. You can spray once a month and any wasp that lands on treated areas will be eliminated within about 24 hours which should stop new wasps from being able to build a nest.

    Q
Does Talstar kill brown recluse spiders?
    A
Talstar will kill spiders.  However, it is not a contact kill product....it is made more for longevity and having a long residual.  It will work much faster when a spider is present when you are spraying and you spray directly on the spider.  It will still not die immediately, but rather quickly. Once the spray dries, if a spider walks over it at a later time, it will pick up the dried Talstar on its body, but it will take much longer to kill it.  It can take hours to a day or so for it to finally kill the spider, depending on the size of the spider.  Most all residual insecticides will work this way.

    Q
What is a good pesticide for the perimeter of my house?
I live in north east North Carolina and I am looking for a good concentrate that I can mix and spray around the outside and inside the crawl space of my house.
    A
Our most popular general use product is called Talstar.  It is widely used by pest control companies because it is labeled for almost every insect you could have a problem with and you can use it outside the home as well as inside, it is odorless and very safe for use around children and pets.  It is a liquid concentrate that you mix with water in a one gallon hand pump sprayer.  It will last for 60 to 90 days outside in between treatments.  It is also labeled for lawn and ornamental use, and can be used on trees, plants, bushes and shrubs for all sorts of ornamental pests including Japanese beetles, mosquitoes, and other leaf eating pests.

    Q
Can I spray Talstar directly onto the foliage of flowering plants for Japanese beetles?
    A

Yes, Talstar P Professional Insecticide can be applied to any bushes, shrubs, trees, landscaped areas as well as flowering plants. However, you should minimize the spray on the actual flowering plants as you do not want it to expose the product to any bees that help with pollination. It is recommended that you spray when pollinators are not active, either in the early morning or late evening.

    Q
How effective is Talstar on scorpions?
    A

Talstar P is our most popular general use insecticide and the most widely used by professional pest control companies.  It can be used indoors as well as outside, and it is odorless and very safe to use when children and pets are present.  The key to scorpion control is a very thorough outside treatment around the foundation of your home.  For scorpions, you should treat around the exterior of your home every 30 days in the spring and summer when scorpions are most active.

How often to use Bifenthrin for ant control around my home?
I'd like to do my own pest control, I have been paying a pest control company and would like to save money. I understand Bifenthrin is good for ant control. How often would I need to spray the perimeter of my house to establish good control over the ants getting into my house? Is there any reason I cannot do this myself?

Of course you can do your own pest control!  We have sold product to hundreds of thousands of people who want to save money and treat their pest problems themselves.  Bifenthrin is an excellend active ingredient that is not only good for ants, but just about any insect problem you may have.  Typically you would treat around the home every 2 to 3 months depending on climate and part of the country you live in.  Our most popular product containing bifenthrin is Talstar One

    Q
I have little gnat like flying insects in my lawn. Is there a spray, or product I can use?
I live in eastern Oregon, and there are swarms of light colored gnat like insects are in my lawn. These insects fly up when walking through the lawn. They are attracted to the "yellow card" traps. There is just so many of them. Is there a product, spray, granule, whatever I can use to stop this?
    A
Talstar P is labeled for gnats and should do a great job for you. You can use Talstar P as a broadcast spray over your lawn, concentrating in areas where see a lot of activity. Talstar P will not keep new gnats away, but it should eliminate the gnats that land of the treated surface.

  • Asked by Craig from Austin, Tx
    04/22/2016
    Q
Can Talstar be used outdoors without killing butterflies, chameleons, lizards, bees?
    A

Talstar will not harm chameleons or lizards, but it will kill the insects in the area they feed on so you may notice a decline in the number you see around as their food sources will be more scarce. Butterflies and bees are insects and will be affected by an insecticide like Talstar and any other product the same way the target pests like ants and spiders would be. The best way to reduce the chance of the Talstar affecting the bees, butterflies and beneficial insects is to spray later in the day when they are not active and are back in their homes/nests, and try to avoid blooms of flowers and plants they would be using for pollenation. Most structural insects you would be targeting are not going to be landing in the same places they would be so it helps keep you from doing as much damage.

  • Asked by Wilson from Los Angeles, Ca
    10/12/2016
    Q
How exactly does Talstar P work?
Do bugs eat it this product after it dries up or they walk over it and die?
    A

Talstar P is a liquid concentrate insectide which contains bifenthrin, a synthetic pyrethroid. Pyrethroids works by disrupting an insect's nervous system causing a weakend state followed by death. Talstar P does not provide an instant knockdown of pests, rather, pests pick up the residual active ingredient by contact, Talstar P is a repellent insecticide since it acts quickly enough that social insects such as ants cannot create a pheromone trail. This mean that Talstar P will be most effective as a barrier with a thorough application. Talstar P residual last up to 3 months.

    Q
How long should I wait to mow my grass after I have sprayed Talstar P?
I finished spraying my 4 acres yesterday and was wondering how soon I could mow the grass?
    A

Per the Talstar Label, to ensure optimum control, delay watering (irrigation) or mowing for 24 hours after application. If the grass area is being maintained at a mowing height of greater than 1 inch, then higher application rates (Up to 1 fluid oz. per 1000 square feet) may be required during periods of high pest pressure.
