    Q
How long does it take for Taurus SC Termiticide to kill the termite colony?
    A
Taurus SC Termiticide is a non-repellent insecticide that is undetectable to target pests, allowing them touch, ingest and spread the insecticide throughout the entire colony.  For termites, Taurus SC will eliminate termite colonies in less than 90 days on average, and ant infestations can be controlled in just a few weeks.

  • Asked by Jeff from Baton Rouge, La

    Q
How to i protect my home where i have wood porches against house preventing trenching?
I've got 700 square feet of pressure treated wood porches running the full width of my house on the front and rear. These block my access to trench and treat the soil on roughly 1/2 of the perimiter of my house. They're very low (2-6" off of the ground). Unfortunately the boards run perpendicular to the house so removing them to gain access to the soil for treatment would mean almost complete disassembly and rebuild of the porches. Could I treat these in the same manner as a concrete porch? Drill down through the porch every 1' near the slab with a long bit and then feed a pump sprayer wand down the hole to inject the solution?
    A
While trenching is always the best option for full protection, something is always going to be better than nothing. If you can drill through and treat the area like you would a concrete slab, this would be great to do. You will want to pour heavier amounts of the product into the holes and even down the side of the foundation between it and the first plank to try and soak the soil below for better coverage. If you do this you should be able to adequately protect the home. If the home is on a crawl space i would suggest going under the home and trenching on the inner wall of the crawl space as well.

  • Asked by Tom from Ny, Ny

    Q
Crawl space under my family room
I got a crawl space under my family room and surrounding by concrete blocks. It is below ground. I found termites in that area. I just started trenching 6x6" outside around my house. Do I still need to trench my crawl space under my family room?
    A
For a termite treatment, you will want to trench around and treat the soil surrounding any part of your home that touches the ground. This means that you would treat the crawlspace area the same as you would around the exterior of your home. Dig a 6x6 inch deep trench around any post or cinder blocks in the crawlspace and pour the Taurus SC mixture into that soil.

    Q
If I trench and treat the outside of the foundation must I treat the crawl space side as well?
Is it necessary to trench and treat both sides of the foundation? I realize it is important to treat the piers in the crawl space.
    A
When using a product like Taurus SC, so long as you trench the outside wall of the foundation and the piers in the crawl space, you do not have to trench the inside wall of the foundation.

    Q
Is Taurus the best ant control for lawns?
    A
Taurus is a great product for ant control but it can only be used on or within one foot of a structure. You cannot use Taurus out in the lawn as this type of treatment is prohibited by the Taurus product label. We do have a wide variety of ant bait granules and insecticides that you can use out in the lawn to control ants. You can find these products by going to our Ant Control Page.

  • Asked by Peter from Minnetonka, Mn

    Q
Does Taurus SC stain or discolor a stained wood deck?
I'm using the product as an ant treatment, and it requires a 1 foot high and 1 foot wide treatment at the foundation. Where my deck is attached to the house, I'd like to also do the same treatment so that ants do not have a "clear path" to the house. Will the finished solution discolor a wooden deck that has already been stained? Thanks!
    A

No, Taurus SC is a water based product that dries clear. It will not stain a wood deck.

    Q
Why can't Taurus SC be used indoors?
Like a crack and crevice application?
    A

Taurus SC Termiticide is only labeled to be used as an outdoor application, and also only up against a structure as well. It can be used indoors for spot treatments only for termite activity, but other than that the product is just not labeled to be used in that manner.

  • Asked by Kyle from Madison, Ms
    08/06/2013
    Q
Can I mix Suspend SC and Taurus SC in the same spray apparatus so that I can put out at one time.
    A
Taurus SC is a non-repellent insecticide. This means that ants and other insects cannot tell that it is there and they will readily walk over treated areas. Taurus SC also has a delayed reaction time and a transfer effect which allows the ants time to get back to the colony and spread it around before they succumb to the effects of the product. Suspend SC on the other hand is synthetic pyrethroid which many sensitive insects such as ants can detect. Ants may avoid the areas treated with Suspend and those ants that do cross over treated areas are the only ones that will be killed by the product. Suspend does not have a transfer effect so it will not be transferred back to the colony. While the Taurus SC will not actually be deactivated by Suspend, it will be much less effective if it is sprayed with Suspend.
