Taurus SC Termiticide is not labeled for fire ants and it is not labeled to be used as a broadcast application, so we are unable to provide this information. We would recommend using Extinguish Plus Fire Ant Bait. A broadcast treatment across the entire area would be best so that the fire ants do not just move their mounds to other areas. If you do an individual mound treatment, be sure to treat at least three feet out as well. There are no grazing restrictions for companion animals, such as horses. You will use 1.5-2 lbs. per acre for a broadcast application and 2-5 tablespoons for individual mounds.
Taurus SC Termiticide does list tree treatments on the label. However, it is only labeled for injection applications, and not for a general spray on or around trees.
When using a product like Taurus SC, so long as you trench the outside wall of the foundation and the piers in the crawl space, you do not have to trench the inside wall of the foundation.
Taurus SC is applied every 6 months for ants per the product label. If you applied less than 6 months ago you do not need to reapply.
Taurus SC is extremely toxic to honey bees and bee populations and should be not used in any areas you are trying to either raise bees or have a large population you are concerned with effecting. Although the Taurus is only for use around the structure and foundation of the home if a bee lands on it in those areas it will die from it and has the ability to spread it to other bees. If you are using Taurus as a trench application for termites it should not be an issue, however if you are using it as a foundation and entry point spray on the home the risk does increase greatly.
Using the hand pump sprayer loaded with one gallon of finished termiticide solution with Taurus SC, spray down the soil as you are replacing it back into the trench. Spray the soil just until moist.
If there is dirt immediately around the posts, then you would trench around the posts with Taurus SC in the same way you would treat around a larger structure. So you would use about 0.5 gallon of solution around each 4" x 4" post (0.4 oz of Taurus in 0.5 gal of water). If the concrete extends out from the posts, then you would not be able to trench there. Instead (or in addition to trenching), you could use Bora-Care to treat any raw wood on the shed to prevent infestation of termites and other wood-decay insects.
Per the Taurus SC Termiticide product label: "Basement Structures: Exterior perimeter: Apply by trenching and rodding into the trench or by trenching along the foundation walls at the rate of 4 gallons of finished dilution of Taurus SC per 10 linear feet per foot of depth, or, if the footing is more than 4 feet below grade treat to a minimum depth of 4 feet. Trenches need not be wider than 6 inches and must be a minimum of 6 inches deep or to the bottom of the footing. When trenching in sloping or tiered soil, the trench must be stepped to ensure adequate distribution and to prevent Taurus SC from running out of the trench. Never treat a structure below the footing. Space the rod holes no more than 12 inches apart in a manner which will create a continuous treated zone. Mix the finished dilution into the soil before replacing it into the trench". Depending on the design of your home, you may need to trench deeper. It is safe to do so if you feel they are getting in under the brick and want to trench to that depth. It should not go below the footing of the home.
Taurus SC Termiticide can be applied and dried prior to expecting any rainfall within 24 hrs. It should be applied 1 ft and 1 ft out around the exterior of the structure for ants.
Given that you applied Taurus SC at higher than the label rate, it is possible that the product killed the termites too quickly and, therefore, has results more like a repellent than a non-repellent. This would mean termites coming to the treated area die, but the product would kill too quickly to transfer through the colony and kill the whole colony. It is also possible that the initial termite colony died and there is a new infestation there. I would recommend retreating if you are finding live termites with a ready-to-use product such as Fuse Foam. Fuse has a foaming agent to help treat voids and galleries more efficiently, and it is already mixed so that you do not have to worry about using the wrong application rate.
Taurus SC Termiticide is not labeled to be used as a broadcast across the lawn so we are unable to provide this information.
Taurus SC Termiticide can be applied directly into gallery entrance holes for carpenter bees only. After application, gallery entrance holes should be plugged. It is not labeled for any other type of bees since it cannot be used on plants or around the yard.
Taurus SC Termiticide can be applied around the structure when it is not raining as a perimeter spray for ants. If you have ants in the lawn or inside the structure, we would advise using the other items in our Outdoor/indoor Ant Kit. Please take a few moments to review our treatment article on How to Get Rid of Ants for a successful eradication program. Phantom aerosol can be applied to interior crevices monthly. We do offer insecticide and bait granules for the lawn as well.
Taurus SC Termiticide is a non-repellent insecticide. This means that ants and other insects cannot tell that it is there and they will readily walk over treated areas. It also has a delayed reaction time and a transfer effect which allows the ants time to get back to the colony and spread it around before they succumb to the effects of the product. Bifen IT on the other hand is synthetic pyrethroid which many sensitive insects such as ants can detect. Ants may avoid the areas treated with it and those ants that do cross over treated areas are the only ones that will be killed by the product. Bifen IT does not have a transfer effect so it will not be transferred back to the colony. While the Taurus SC will not actually be deactivated by Bifen IT it will be much less effective if it is over-sprayed with Bifen IT. You can spray Bifen IT on your trees, bushes and lawn for mosquito control as long as you are not actually overlapping the areas where Taurus SC was applied.

One finished gallon of Taurus SC Termiticide should cover approx 1000 sqft. It should only be applied with a pump or backpack sprayer.
Taurus SC Termiticide is a liquid concentrate that is diluted with water and applied as directed on the product label.
You may make up to 4 applications a year with Taurus SC if you make a 0.03% finished dilution (0.4 oz per gallon of water). The application will still be effective as long as it's applied 24 hours before rain.
Trenching along the interior wall of the crawl space with Taurus SC is not necessary unless trenching along the exterior wall isn't possible.
Taurus SC has a residual when used on the surface around the foundation of the home of roughly 30-60 days outdoors depending on weather and elements that affect it over time. Due to the reach a product like Taurus has through an insect population with its transfer technology, you may notice the insect population not build back up as quickly and take longer than the 60 days to start seeing new signs of pests even though the residual of the product has been broken down by then. Keep in mind that Taurus SC can be applied 1 foot out from the foundation and 1 foot up using a low-pressure hand or backpack sprayer, per the product label.
