When trenching with Taurus SC Termiticide, you should dig a 6" wide by 6" deep trench directly against the foundation of the exterior walls. Be sure to read our Liquid Termite Treatment article for full directions.
Taurus SC Termiticide cannot be applied to the ground for yellow jackets, only on a building in the eaves where they may nest or try to enter a structure. A better option for ground control on lawns if needed would be something like Tempo SC Ultra.
Taurus SC is not for indoor use at all unless you are treating for an active termite colony behind a wall void that you plan to drill a small hole into the wall to get to. If that is the case, you would use the same rate as you would for the trenching method outdoors which is 0.8 oz per gallon of water.
Taurus SC Termiticide has a long residual and should only be applied at the lowest rate if using 4 times a year as labeled by the manufacturer to be the safest application. You will still see ants after application as it takes time to completely kill off a colony but you should not apply more often than labeled. They will still die after contacting a treated area.
Taurus SC Termiticide in the 78 oz bottle will cover 240 lineal feet of trenching/drilling for termite applications. It makes 100 gallons of solution. We would suggest the 20 oz bottle for treatment topically around the structures (1 ft up and 1 ft out). Each 20 oz. bottle will make 24 gallons of solution and will treat 16,600 sq ft.
Yes, you can inject Taurus SC under the slab that is part of the house area. This would be considered part of your termite treatment since they were found active in this area. You would NOT be permitted to apply the Taurus SC to the new wood that is being installed. The best product for this application would be Boracare which is a wood preservative that can be applied to any raw wood and lasts for the life of the wood.
Taurus SC is NOT labeled for mites or indoor applications. We do not contain a fipronil product that is labeled for this type of application indoors or for the specific insect that you are treating. We highly recommend that you contact your local cooperative extension office for a product selection that will best fit your needs with this particular active ingredient.
Taurus SC is not labeled to treat for fire ant control. Please review our How to Treat for Fire Ants Page for recommendations on using granules for broadcast or mound applications and also how to use a liquid insecticide such as Talstar for a liquid treatment.
Taurus SC Termiticide is not labeled for fire ants. The application ratio for carpenter ants is 0.80 fl oz per gallon of water to make a 0.06% solution. You can use this solution twice per year.
Taurus SC Termiticide is a liquid concentrate that is diluted with water and applied as directed on the product label.
Taurus SC Termiticide should NOT be used on pets or used to treat fleas inside or outside the home. It is an exterior product for treating termites and other listed pests/applications against the structure. We do offer products for Indoor, Outdoor and Pet Flea Control. Please take a few moments to review our treatment article on How to Get Rid of Fleas for a successful eradication program.
Both Taurus SC and Tandem Insecticide are great products and very effective. Keep in mind that Taurus is labeled for outdoor use only, whereas Tandem can be used inside and outside.
When you have any concrete against the home (such as a patio or garage that shares walls with inside rooms) that prevents you from trenching across it, you have to drill holes every 12 inches and treat each hole with roughly 1/2 to 1 gallon of mixed solution. Each hole should be drilled with a bit that is roughly 1/2 wide and 18 inches long. Please review the Taurus SC Product Label and our article How To Do A Termite Treatment for all the proper techniques for a homeowner to treat this area.
Taurus SC Termiticide treatment can be spread across several days as long as it does not rain and the trench can be filled in prior to rain.
No, Taurus SC is not labeled for springtails. We would recommend using Talstar P around your home for springtails. This product should not be sprayed in the same areas as Taurus SC so that they do not work against each other. The mixing ratio is 1 fl. oz. per gallon of water. When treating for springtails, it is crucial to identify and eliminate the excess moisture issue where this pest breeds in order to permantly address the infestation.
