We recommend reading our article on How to Get Rid of Bed Bugs for more information on a treatment program using the products and non-chemical efforts.
Tempo SC Ultra is usually best mixed with 1 gallon of water since it has such low dilution rates. You would use 8-16 ml or 0.27 to .054 fl oz per gallon of water, so for a quart sprayer (be sure it is not a trigger sprayer; it must be a pump sprayer) you would just divide that by 4 (since there are 4 quarts in a gallon), which would equal 2-4 ml or 0.07 to 0.14 fl oz. Please refer to the product label for the rate based on your target pest.
Tempo SC Ultra should not be applied within 10-15 ft of any well, pond, lake, stream or wetland. It should be applied to the listed areas when there is not any wind to avoid drift. You should also apply to areas that will not runoff into water areas as it is toxic to aquatic organisms.
Bifen IT and Tempo SC Ultra are both very good products. The biggest difference between them is that they have two different active ingredients. They are both great insecticides and can be alternated so that there is no pest resistance built up.

Tempo SC Ultra should not be applied to edible garden areas/crops. Current insecticides useful for this treatment would include products that contain bifenthrin (Talstar), cyfluthrin (Tempo SC Ultra) or permethrin ( Tengard SFR). Rates of use should be to the high-end of what is labeled, such as for bark beetles or borers. Timing is very important but difficult to determine. Sprays should be applied shortly before adults begin to feed on the terminal and lay eggs. You can contact your local cooperative extension office and speak to the master gardener on staff who can help you determine the correct timing.
