    Q
Best general treatment program for my home.
Growing tired using exterminators. Currently on a quarterly program for common pests, ant, silverfish, etc. They treat both inside and the outside perimeter of the home. I would like to do this my self. What products would you recomend for a DYI treatment program for the midwest? I should note we have 2 dogs and 2 cats. No children.
    A
One of our most popular products for the midwest is Tempo SC Ultra. Tempo SC Ultra
is powerful against pests with no odor and less visible residue. This product will kill all of the insects you listed plus many more. You can use this product indoors and out.

    Q
Does the Tempo SC Ultra product kill fleas?
    A
Tempo SC Ultra is not labeled for indoor flea control but would do a great job outside.  It is not applied as an indoor broadcast application for the treatment of this insect or any other insect. It is applied only as a crack and crevice application indoors.  For outdoors we also recommend mixing in an IGR that will help break down the reproductive cycle. You can use something like NyGuard IGR.  For indoors we would recommend Nyguard Plus which can  be applied to carpets, rugs, flooring, floors, drapes and all surfaces of upholstered furniture including under cushions. Avoid over wetting furniture and carpeting.

    Q
Do i need to clean my house after using tempo for silverfish when i have a 14 month crawling around?
My 14 month old is constantly crawling on the floor and putting things in his mouth. We treated our home with Tempo for silverfish and got an exterminator in. Is it safe for our baby to be crawling around and putting things in his mouth? Do i also need to clean all his toys?
    A
There is no need to clean anything when Tempo is being used as required on the product label. Indoors it should have only been used in cracks and crevices and in other areas that are mainly inaccessible to children. If the product was not used as outlined in these requirements then you would need to thoroughly wash the areas that were sprayed with soap and water.

    Q
Will Tempo kill bed bugs once it has dried?
    A

Tempo SC Ultra is not labeled to kill bed bugs. Our bedbug kits come with all top of the line products that are available on the market today, along with instructions to follow. When applied properly, our kits have a very high success rate. We recommend reading our article on How to Get Rid of Bed Bugs for more information on a treatment program using the products and non-chemical efforts.

  • Asked by Amber from Okc Ok

    Q
Will Tempo SC Ultra kill carpet beetles? We only have wood floors but we have carpet beetles.
Do we need to add anything with the the Tempo SC Ultra to kill the carpet beatles?
    A

Tempo SC Ultra will kill Carpet Beetles. We do not recommend applying to hardwood floors. Carpet beetle infestations can be very difficult to control. The best weapon for getting rid of them is to combine cleaning and insecticides.

Vacuuming: Carpet beetle larvae like to feed in dark, undisturbed locations like closets, attics, basements, and storage areas. The wide availability of food sources for the larvae (including dust and lint, and pet hair) makes vacuuming the best way to ensure there is minimal food for the larvae to feed on. Vacuuming can also help to remove the larvae and adult beetles already in the home. Regular vacuuming and laundering of rugs, furniture, and linens can help to ensure the beetles are removed and have no food source. If you find a contaminated item, bag and remove this item from your home, if possible.

Proper storage: Before storing silks, woolens, or furs, dry clean as the beetles are attracted to stains and soiled garments. Store in a well-sealed container, using mothballs. Mothballs can limit the beetle’s attraction to the wool or silk. Store pet food, dried meat, and other dried animal products in a well-sealed container.

Insecticides: For things that cannot be washed or dry cleaned, insecticides are the best bet for prevention and eradication. You can also mix in Gentrol IGR with your Tempo SC. This will help to break down the reproduction cycle.

Insecticides can be used for spot-treatments, as a boundary at the edges of rugs, under rugs, under furniture, walls and floors of closets, shelving, cracks, and lint or dust accumulating areas. Be careful around oriental rugs or other fabrics, as some insecticides can stain. Never spray clothing or bedding with insecticide, and always read instructions.

    Q
Is Tempo SC the best product to use for carpet beetle?
I've had an exterminator spray my apartment 2 times for carpet beetles. Not sure what product they are using but live beetles are still being found. Is this the best product to use to take care of them myself?
    A

Tempo SC Ultra will kill carpet beetles that come in contact with it, but Tempo SC Ultra is really designed as a crack and crevice spray. You could use Nyguard Plus, which is safe to use on carpets. Please be sure to keep these tips in mind as well.

    Q
What is the Half Life of Tempo SC Ultra Insecticide
I am having a roach problem and have had it for two years. The Pest Control Co. I have had for the two years insists that spraying around and in the home every 3 months should do the job. The Chemicals used : Mother Earth Scatter Bait - Phantom SC 0.5% - Prelude EC 0.05% and recently - Tempo SC Ultra Insecticide. After checking into a Prelude's half life I am concern and wonder about the 3 mo. intervals on the rest. Please respond, I need your opinion.
    A
Tempo SC Ultra has a resiudual of 3 months indoors. However, a key part of eradiacting roaches is to incorporate a roach  bait. A great roach bait to use is Vendetta Plus. Vendetta Plus is an effective cockroach bait, plus, it contains the insect growth regulator (IGR) NyGuard which interrupts the life cycle of the roach and helps to prevent future infestations.

    Q
What's the difference between Tempo SC Ultra and Suspend SC?
I've skimmed through both product labels and looked online and can't seem to find much of a difference between the two. I purchased the pint of Suspend SC last year and just purchased the Tempo SC ULtra and was surprised to find that it's only 8 oz. (That's my fault for not looking at the size before I ordered) I was wondering what the difference between the two is though, since the Tempo costs twice what the Suspend does. I'm using the product to treat mainly for scorpions. Thank you for any info!
    A
Tempo SC Ultra contains beta-Cyfluthrin 11.8%, whereas Suspend SC contains Deltamethrin 4.75%. These active ingredients are different, which affects the rate at which you would dilute them before application. Tempo SC Ultra may come in a smaller bottle than Suspend SC, but you need half as much to mix in a gallon of water. Tempo SC is diluted .5 oz (16mL) to 1 gallon of water and Suspend SC is diluted 1 oz to 1 gallon of water. They are both great for general insecticides, but are different in their makeup.

  • Asked by Melanie from Jersey City, Nj

    Q
Is it okay to mix Tempo SC with Phantom or should they be sprayed in different areas?
    A
You cannot mix Tempo SC Ultra and Phantom together. By mixing Tempo SC Ultra with Phantom you would be essentially removing the non-repellent factor of Phantom as well as the delayed reaction kill time which makes the product so effective.
