    Q
How exactly do you use it as a preemergent while also seeding in the spring?
Doesn't the newly growing grass disrupt the preemergent barrier?
    A

Tenacity Herbicide should be applied at grass seeding or close to seeding for best results. If you are not close, meaning within a week of application, then you would need to wait 6-8 weeks to re-seed.

    Q
Tenacity Plus Turflon Ester Hose Spray Rate
I have an Herbicide hose sprayer an I am wondering how many teaspoons per gallon it should be set to when mixing Tenacity and Turflon Ester. If I did my math right, Tenacity should be applied at .5tsp per gallon and Turflon at 1tsp per gallon for 1000sqft. 1. Should I dilute the Tenacity with an equal amount of water so that there is a 50/50 mix and matches the 1tsp/g rate of Turflon Ester? In other words, should I mix 1tsp Tenacity with 1tsp water and 1tsp Turflon Ester? 2. Should the rate applied actually be 2 tsp/gallon if Turflon Ester and Tenacity are a 50/50 mix so 1tsp of each product is being applied?
    A
The Tenacity Herbicide cannot be used in a hose end sprayer for weed control and when mixing with other herbicides, and isn't recommended as a method of application for that product in general. The manufacturer of Tenacity recommends using it as a spot treatment for existing weeds for best results, as broadcast spraying is typically less effective on certain species. A tank sprayer would be needed to properly mix and evenly apply the Tenacity mixed with Turflon Ester and the non ionic surfactant Tenacity needs for post emergent treatments. You did not state what weeds you are targeting specifically for us to give a more detailed answer regarding timing, reapplications, and checking mix rates of each.

    Q
Will freezing temperatures affect concentrated Tenancity?
My Tenacity order was left undetected in my mailbox for several days with temperatures well below freezing. Will it be affected?
    A
Tenacity can start to lose its efficacy when it is not stored properly. Freezing temperatures can cause the product to not work correctly.

    Q
Does Tenacity influence the timing of Fertilizer application? If so, how??
    A
We recommend waiting 2-4 weeks between applications of herbicides and fertilizers to avoid over stressing the treated areas. We recommend using a soil analysis test kit or taking a sample of your soil to your local cooperative extension so your soil can be analyzed to determine what nutrients your soil is lacking. The healthiest, hardiest lawns are fertilized 2-4 times per year, fall, summer, early spring and late spring.  We do have a soil test kit here.

I used this, but now spinach looking weed is growing.
I live in the Rio Grande Valley (south Texas) I sprayed this, and all the weeds died, but then spinach looking weed began to grow months later where i sprayed. Everywhere i sprayed that weed came out. It's taking over the grass.. I'm not sure what to spray to kill it. I think my grass is bermuda and st augustine.
    A
Tenacity Herbicide is not labeled to kill wild spinach. You can Glyphosate based products to treat and reseed in the bare areas.

    Q
Can Tenacity be successfully applied during in Fall during 2 week window
I realize 55 degrees is optimal temperature for application of Tenacity. Currently air temperature is in 30-45 range however, forecasts are calling for a 2 week period of temps over 55 degrees. Would Tenacity kill broadleaf weeds during that two week window? I'm not concerned about crabgrass since it dies off with first hard frost.
    A
Pre-emergents such as Tenacity Herbicide can be applied both in the spring & fall. They are applied once soil temperatures reach below 70 degrees, which are different from the air temperatures. Most of the US has already reached the point where they can go ahead & apply pre-emergents. Even though Tenacity can work as both a pre & a post, due to soil temperatures it will only work as a pre-emergent. Meaning it will only prevent germination not kill what's already germinated.

  • Asked by Michael from Freeport

    Q
Can I mix Tenacity Herbicide with 2,4 D?
    A

Since Tenacity Herbicide requires a surfactant as a post-emergent, we would not advise mixing it with a product that does not require one. If both products require a surfactant, you would need to a jar test to see how they both react together. Keep in mind that as a post-emergent it can only be spot treated & not blanked sprayed the way other post-emergents can
