Killed my Kentucky Blue Grass

Not as Advertised
By Pat on 08/07/2020
I used Tenacity as recommended with a NIS and at corrcet ratio's based on my acreage. It took roughly 3-4 days before the crabgrass started to lose color. It took about 5-6 days for the full bleaching. What is not advertised is that this product essentially works its way down to the root. So if you mow your lawn, you basically just wasted your time as the root is still not dead and can regrow. Maybe some people can forgo mowing for 2-3 weeks as it may fully kill the crabgrass, but in my sibdivision I can't. Wish I would've known beforehand. Definitely woudl not have bought this.

Crabgrass killer
By Bruce on 09/25/2020
I am not at all impressed. Could have done as well with a Scott's product from Lowes. I followed directions to a tee including a recommended surfactant. Two applications and less than half the crabgrass has died. This was a fairly expensive lesson. I guess I'll be culling by hand which I was trying to avoid.

Don't Buy Waste Of Money
By Jeff on 12/13/2020
Heard good things about this stuff. Bought it and the stuff that goes with it to try and kill dandelion, clover, and hop clover in my lawn. Fallowed the directions, and it didn't work. Biggest waster of $100 ever. Avoid at all costs.

Tenacity yuck
By Cher on 09/17/2021
My entire yard turned white and or died from the tenacity application. I followed the directions perfectly, and watched tons of yard care videos on top of that. Very disappointed at the ugly and disastrous results. I did read that the grass that turned white might recover but it looks pretty dead to me. Oh well. I tried.

Not working
By Tony on 12/10/2021
Has not showed any results to speak of, no appearance of wilting or any other results
Expert response:
After spraying with Tenacity Herbicide, the foliage of treated weeds cease growth after application, then turn white (loss of chlorophyll), and death may take up to three weeks. A repeat application is required after two to three weeks for improved postemergence weed control. We do see that you had the product less than a month so just need to give more time to work and may need a repeat application depending on target weeds

tenacity
By Ron on 05/29/2022
Did nothing for my poa annua followed all instructions in fact got worse.
Expert response:
Good evening,
We apologize the Tenacity did not work as expected but we are not able to find an order under this email to confirm when purchased, was it purchased from us?
We will say that Tenacity is not labeled to control Poa annua that is already growing as a post emergent herbicide. Per the label it is only used to suppress it when applied as a pre-emergent before the poa annua germinates and emerges, it will take multiple applications for it do even this. If you already have Poa you will need a post emergent that is labeled to control it and that is safe to use on your turfgrass. If you provide that information we would be happy to look at a replacement product more suited to your needs.

Application
By James on 06/27/2022
I recently applied tenacity to my lawn after mixing the ingredients according to instructions. After several days I mowed my grass and under the top growth it has turned white. I am very nervous as to how this may turn out.

Doesnt work
By Thinh on 08/12/2022
Purchased and applied as directed. All it did was turn the crabgrass white while fresh green crabgrass grew around it. A total waste of time and money. Don't even want to give it away so someone else. Dont want to waste their time on it. Better off to buy something from menards or lowes that works as advertised.

Patches of my lawn is white
By Jewel on 05/04/2023
I purchased the tenacity with the recommended products from this site. I now have white patches on my lawn. It took two applications and still there were parts of my lawn that I had to de-weed by hand. I'm not sure of white my next step will be in that as I stare at the white patches, I truly don't know what else to do. If anyone has any suggestions, please don't hesitate to share it here. My lawn has white patches, dead patches, and patches of compost and new seeds that I put down. I'm not a happy gardener right now. :(
Expert response:
We are sorry to hear your experience was unsatistory. Per the product label Yellowing or whitening of the turf after a broadcast application of Tenacity Herbicide is caused by the loss of chlorophyll and is normal. The product label states, Tenacity may cause temporary whitening of turfgrass foliage. In general, symptoms appear five to seven days after application and last for several weeks. A repeat application to the same site causes less whitening of the plant tissue.
Tanacity Does Not Work
By Brian on 05/15/2023
I used this system and have had 0 results. I will say I have not done a second application yet...but first application has shown 0 results on the crabgrass I sprayed. Very disappointed!
Expert response:
Tenacity Herbicide when mixed with a non ionic surfactant will control crabgrass up to the 4 tiller leaf state only and is best applied when it is young and just emerges for best control and may require repeat treatments. For more mature crabgrass it would not control it at all so timing is key.

Don’t like it
By Steve on 09/13/2024
Sprayed the clover and crabgrass in my lawn 7 days later grass turned white but not the weeds now another 10 days later grass looks like it’s dying, turning stray brown and weeds , especially the clover is still green. Bottle says a second application may be needed but I’m afraid it’s going to kill the entire lawn. I’ll never use it again

It will bleach new seed grass

Poor long term results for me
By Rick on 08/27/2017
I've had to change my review from last year due to the fact that all of the Bent grass I thought I killed has recovered. I did 3 sprays last summer/fall. It severely damaged the Bent grass but also bleached the desirable grasses. I'm not sure how others claim that good grasses were not harmed. I had to paint my customers lawns because it was so unsightly. Then I had to reseed. A lot of work only to find that the Bent has come back nearly 100%. It did work better on some other weeds.
