    Q
How soon can you sleep in a bedroom with walls that have been treated with Termidor Foam?
I am treating a corner wall of a bedroom with Termidor Foam. How soon is it safe to sleep in the room or have pets in the room? Also, should the holes be covered afterward?
    A

You want to keep children and pets away when you are applying Termidor Foam.  Once you are finished applying, you can seal up the holes and it will be fine for children and pets to enter and to sleep in the room.

    Q
How to treat the active termites inside the house that is in an exterior walls?
I found termites inside my house by the windows at my exterior wall there are insulation in the wall. How do I tread the termites that is in the wall, and how much do I need for a 10X10 room?
    A
You will need to determine what kind of termite you have for us to direct you on the best treatment method. If you have drywood termites, you could drill holes into the galleries and inject a product like Termidor Foam to expand and eliminate the colony. You will only be injecting the foam into the studs and around where the activity is, not filling the entire wall void. It would be hard to determine exactly how many cans you would need withouth knowing where you are primarily seeing activity. If you have subterranean termites, you will need to do a trench treatment around the home to eliminate the colony in the ground with a product like Termidor SC. Termidor SC will last in the soil for at least 10 years to both eliminate your current termites and prevent any new ones from entering the home. The Termidor SC trench treatment would kill the existing termites in the wall of your home as well, but you could always do a spot treatment with the Termidor Foam to help speed up the process along with the trench treament. You can see how a homeowner can treat there home for subterranean termites in our article "How To Do A Termite Treatment". There are many variables that go into treating your home for termites so it may be easier to call our customer service staff at 1-866-581-7378 for better instruction to meet the needs of you and your home.

    Q
How do I inject Termidor in stained, tongue and groove wood ceiling?
My house has an open beam, tongue and groove wood ceiling. There is evidence of Drywood termite activity in a few of the boards; I saw droppings on the floor in the summer and I see a few, tiny kick out holes in the boards. I have several questions: 1) which Termidor product should I inject? 2) What diameter hole do I need to drill? 3) do I plug the hole with wood putty or silicone caulk immediately after injecting Termidor?
    A
Termidor Foam would be good to use.  You would drill directly into the kickout holes you are seeing so that you can get directly in the gallery where the termites actively are.  You want to drill a 3/8 to 1/2 inch hole.  You can plug the hole with which putty/caulk you would like after if wanted.

    Q
Why is the residual of Termidor Foam only 6 weeks when the Termidor SC used in the trenching methof last several years?
    A

The Termidor FOAM has different uses and different percentages of the active ingredients in it along with a different carrier method as well. All of these things combined will give it a different residual time.

    Q
what is the difference between using Termidor foam and Termidor SC and one of the two foaming agents
That you sell? Is it just a matter cost, convenience, or volume of foam to be produced? Is there any difference in the foam produce buy Termidor foam or Termidor SC or their activity
    A

Termidor FOAM  and Termidor SC when accompanied by a foaming agent would be the same application. However, the Termidor SC with a foamin agent would cover more area, and certainly be more economical if you had larger areas or more than one area to treat.

    Q
After how long should I wait to seal drilled holes where I sprayed the Termidor FOAM?
I sprayed the foam in the holes I drilled and the same day some came out with wings and died. I am treating a bedroom door and don't want them to get in to the bedroom. Can I close the drilled holes now so I don't have to worry or do I have to wait and how long?
    A

It is recommended that you wait until the Termidor FOAM has dissipated and dried completely before sealing the drilled holes. This could take 1-2 hours.

    Q
    TERMIDOR FOAM
How many feet will a can of termidor foam treat in a 2x6 wall
    A
Termidor Foam will equal to 20 quarts of solution. You will not foam the entire void with Termidor Foam, rather you will drill a hole close to the top of the ceiling/stud on either side of the stud. Once the holes are in place on each side, inject the foam into each hole for 5-10 seconds, allowing the foam to expand but slide down the sides of the studs where they would travel. If you are seeing them along the baseboard areas, drill holes every 8-10 inches apart across the area between studs, about an inch or 2 above the baseboard. Use the same injection rate for each hole and let dry. It has some residual for about a month after it dissipates so if any are missed in the initial application the rest of the colony should be affected. If you know where an active infestation is, you should indeed direct treat with the Termidor Foam. The foam will only last for about 6 weeks because it is not bonding with soil molecules.

    Q
Termidor Foam only last 6 weeks? How about the 10 years guarantee?
The foam will go away in 6 weeks but the treated area will be immune to termite for 10 years, right?
    A

Yes, Termidor SC will last 10 years in the soil as a barrier treatment because the Fipronil bonds to the soil. Termidor Foam is used to get direct contact to the active colonies inside the wall voids and will disapate over time (usually 6 weeks)

    Q
How do you treat a Florida carpenter ant (bull ant) that is not wood destroying?
I have Florida carpenter ants nesting in voids where my patio roof meets the main roof of my house. These ants are winged males coming out in the evening at dusk. I killed as many as I could see with Raid Ant and Roach killer, but I am sure that the nests are alive and well deep in the voids. I looked them up on the web and these ants do not destroy hard wood and prefer voids in structures or soft wood. What can I treat them with?
    A
If you can get to the voids where you know the ants are nesting and trailing you could use a product like Termidor Foam to expand and reach as much of the nest as possible. Once the foam dissipates it will dry and leave behind a residual for a few weeks to transfer from one ant to the next to eliminate the entire colony in the home. After eliminating the colony you will want to try and seal up as many entry points for the ants as possible for the next year.

    Q
When can a re-application of Termidor Foam be made after first application?
Found a kickout hole and "pepper grains" below it. I believe it is from termites. We live in Minnesota so I am not positive but it matched what I found on the internet. Enlarged kickout hole with a drill, sprayed foam Termidor. Result was a whole lot of dead ants. I had never even seen an ant in that room until they all died (no dead termites). Did about six other holes and sprayed the foam. For three days had so many little brown/black dead ants. Quiet for about 5 days. Today, I see that the kick out hole is reopened and the little "pepper grains" are starting to come out again. Do I have termites and the ants were just collateral damage? Do ants make kickout holes? Should I reapply Termidor within a week of my first application?
    A

After making your first application of Termidor FOAM in wall voids another application can not be made for 6 weeks.  Termidor is a residual product and can take weeks for full results.

    Q
Is it best to spray foam at ceiling line or floor level?
Termites entered back room thru ceiling. Home was spot treated by a professional. While doing cleanup, I noticed tiny pin holes in two walls in the room and a portion of the ceiling. I sealed the wall and painted. I've noticed a few pin holes near the ceiling on one wall. I've ordered some Termidor foam. The professional drilled holes at the floor. Is a good idea for me to spray the foam thru holes drilled near the ceiling line?
    A
We recommend that you drill directly into the stud 6in from floor and 6in from ceiling and inject the Termidor Foam into the holes. Each application will last for 6 weeks.

Can I rub Termidor Foam on antique furniture? Will it harm cats or myself?
I am moving antique furniture, but want to be rid of termites. I also have many cats. What are the dangers? I have read Termidor is for outside use.
    A

No, Termidor SC should only be used indoors if you are treating an active termite infestation and you know where the pests are. We would not recommend applying this product while pets and/or children are indoors. Once the product has dried completely, it is safe for pets to return to the area.

    Q
Can we use Termidor FOAM as a regular spray or we have always to make holes and use the tip?
    A

Termidor FOAM is only used when you are directly spot treating active infestations, this would involve drilling right into the infested wood and using the tip to inject.

Should I apply Termidor FOAM inside the wall of the 2nd story, too?
I did a trench application of Termidor and also an application of Termidor foam in the first floor wall where I saw termite activity. I have a 2 story home.
    A

You should only use the Termidor Foam to directly spot treat active infestations of termites inside.  If they are in the wood in the wall on the second story then yes you would use it there.

  • Asked by Suresh from Chennai, India

    Q
I have found termite tubes in my wardrobe closet. How do I treat this with Termidor foam?
    A
When performing a spot treatment behind a wall it is very important to drill directly into the affected stud and foam into the termite galleries as well as the void on either side of the stud. Foam is preferred because it has the ability to expand and travel deep into the termite galleries, cracks and crevices, and wall void much better, which does provide better coverage than liquids.

  • Asked by Will from San Dimas, Ca

    Q
Cannot send to CA. So what should i use?
I live in CA where the Termidor Foam cannot be sold. So can I use Termidor sc instead? What do I use to inject and where do I inject the liquid SC into the wall? Will it work just as well as the foam if used correctly?
    A

An alternative termiticide foam that is able to be shipped to California is Premise Foam. Whenever you are treating termites, you should treat them directly by drilling a hole through the Sheetrock and into the stud or wood they are in. It will expand and fill the void so that it can contact all surfaces and then evaporate leaving behind a residual that will last several weeks. Using Termidor SC as the liquid, you would apply the same way, it would just be a liquid and not a foam.

Depending on the type of termites you are treating for will be a big factor as well. Take a look at our Termite Control Page to help identify if you have Drywood, Dampwood or Subterranean Termites.

If you are treating for Subterranean termites you will most likely not be able to eliminate the population with just a foam in the walls as they are coming from the soil under and outside your home. Even if you could eliminate the entire population with the Premise Foam. It normally takes a full 90 days to see an entire colony destroyed and no more signs of activity. We highly recommend you look over our article and videos on "How To Do A Termite Treatment" to see how you should accurately be eliminating the termites and properly protecting your home from any future infestations. The method described in that article is going to save you time and money in the long run. Please let us know if you have any other questions.

    Q
Drilling 2x4 wood stud to treat for termites. What size hole do I need and what product will I need
    A
To treat wood studs, you want to drill a 3/8 to 1/2  hole close to the top of the ceiling/stud on either side of the stud. If you know where an active infestation is, you should indeed direct treat with the Termidor Foam. The foam will only last for about 6 weeks because it is not bonding with soil molecules. An outside trench will need to be performed also. Please click on the article on how to perform your own termite treatment for additional information and tips.
