    How long does it take Termidor to kill ants?
    By this I mean THE ant which contacted it, not the colony.
    A
    There are many variables that can change how long a product takes to kill an ant such as health and age of the ant, how long the product has been in place, how much of the product the ant got on it, etc. In general it can take any where from 1 day to around a week for the ant to die.

    I would like to know how much Termidor Sc should I put in a 15 gallon tank sprayer? I did the math but I want to make sure that I have the right amount. I am doing a preventive treatment .... thank you... .

    I live in Orlando, FL - what is best treatment you suggest to prevent this subterranean termites?
    i found millions of Flying insects around Oak tree 20 ft away from my block build house.

    In most cases, termites out in the yard are completely normal and can be left alone. If you do not have an up-to-date termite barrier around your home you can apply a product such as Termidor SC to prevent any termites from moving.     Do you have advice for getting rid of difficult to access honey bee nests?
    We have a 40' long solar structure and honey bees have now made up nests between 2 X 6 structural members which has roofing on the top side and plywood underneath. The bees enter from the far side between the roofing which happens to be 20 ft. in the air and not easy to get to. I have drilled 1/4" holes thru the plywood on the underside and attached 6 ft. lengths of vinyl tubing thru which I have attempted to spray off the shelf insecticides and also a strong detergent solution. Even tried ammonia. But to no avail. Much as we love the bees we have leak repairs to be done and need new roofing and no one will go near. The bees also now sting children also. There are about 20 sections between the 2 x 6's and we must have at least 6 hives. My recent thought has been to fumigate then remove the plywood to remove the nests, but the bees have to be done-in somehow first. Your suggestions please, and thanks!

    Honey bees are in steep decline and the law dictates they should only be killed after a bee keeper has been consulted and cannot help safely remove the colony. You can locate local bee keepers by contacting your local cooperative extension office. We are not sure what a solar structure is but if you can somehow get close to the exterior entrance the bees are using you can apply a product such as Termidor SC. Termidor is a non-repellent and will be transferred from bee to bee and will typically take about a week to two weeks to control a colony.

    How do I apply Termidor SC when a concrete slab is around my house?
    A
    When concrete surrounds a home you must use a hammer drill to drill through the slab and into the soil right up against the home. The holes should not be further than 12" apart and you can use a sprayer that is set on pin stream or you can use funnels and pour the solution into the holes with a bucket. The usage rate will stay the same so you should apply 4 gallons of the solution to every 10 linear feet. (usually works out to be about 1/2 gallon of solution per hole).

    Is it safe to use Termidor SC on an area where my chickens scratch and eat bugs? I don't want to poison them.
    This is for an active termite treatment, for trench treating around the house. I may use a different brand because we can't get termidor here.

    The chickens will need to be kept of the area during the application and for about 6-8 hours until the surface is completely dry. Once dried there should not be any issues for the chickens.

    I work for a termite company in CA. They try to make me treat in the rain. What is the law in CA?
    I know the label stats "do not treat while precipitation is occurring" however my company who will remain annoymus is trying to say as long as the soil is protected by the eves of the house is okay to treat.. please let me know I don't want to break the law and risk having my Branch 2 and 3 revoked. and plus a fine or jail time.

    The law varies greatly in each state and we are located in Georgia and are unfamiliar with the law in California. You should contact the department of agriculture in your state and ask for their expertise on this law.

    Can Termidor be used when I have dogs that are inside and also go outside?

    Termidor is pet safe when it is used as directed on the product label. The dogs should be out of the area during the application and they can safely return tho the area after the application has dried.

    Termidor was trenched in my vegetable garden; can I use that area now or ever?
    Also, can I transfer dirt to another area as I have been using that spot for 12 years now and the soil is great. The trenched area was only 8 inches into garden; can I just plant away from that area.

    You cannot use the soil that was treated with Termidor SC for planting edible plants. You must keep any edible garden plants far enough away from the soil so that the roots do not enter that area. You should also note that if you disturb the trenched area where the Termidor SC was applied you will be disturbing the barrier and could cause an opening for termites to cross.

    Can I treat with Termidor SC myself? If so how much do I need?
    On the interior wall of a room in our office I noticed three small holes with dirt piles on top of them and when I brushed the dirt off and looked closer I noticed it was termites. Our pest control rep just told me that he needed 125 gallons to treat our 3000 sq ft building and to flush our pipes, and also foam. He is quoting us $1100 for the best price he can do. Is this a job I can do myself? If so, how much product would I need to buy? Please help!

    Yes, you can treat yourself. The article below will tell you how to treat yourself as well as how to calculate how much you need.

    You should perform a liquid termite treatment in the ground to get the termites where they are entering your house.  To perform a treatment just as a professional company would do, please read our How To Do A Termite Treatment Article which explains exactly how you should treat your home properly.  Doing a treatment like what is described in the article will not only take care of existing termites that you have, but it will also protect and prevent future termites from entering for about 7 years.

    I've been using Termidor SC in one tank for about 5 years now, and there seems to be a rotten egg smell.
    seems like it only does it at the start of each new job after the tank has set up overnight. maybe some of the product was left in the hose. is there anyone else complaining about this. thank you

    We have never heard of any one reporting this smell. Perhaps their is a high sulfur content in the water you are using. We recommend making sure you triple rinse the tank and hoses after use.

    When digging the trench rod how deep do you dig and how far from the house?

    I had the outside of my home trenched and treated with Termidor and it rained 8 hours later.
    Will effectiveness of termidor be weakened?

    Can I use Termidor SC within my basement floor?
    I had two professionals come out to give me a quote for termites and they threw out $1300 dollars wow...So I want to try it myself my question is can I use the product within my basement floor? the professionals said that they were going to drill inside and outside where they thought it needed. I've read that you shouldn't use it inside the house.

    Yes, you can apply Termidor to drilled holes in your basement. The only permissible ways Termidor can be used indoors is when it is applied to drilled holes or wall voids.

    Just had a treatment of Termidor and my veggie garden was "injected" too because of proximity. Can I re-plant?
    The soil from the garden is against the house. We removed the plants for the treatment. Can they be replanted in the same spot?

    No. You will be disrupting the barrier allowing termites to gain access to your home if you displace/disturb the soil to plant the garden. You will also be contaminating the vegetable plants as well by using the treated soil.

    Can I treat the area under fiberglass shower with Termidor and how long will protection last?
    I had to cut sheet rock wall to get to open area (open to ground) in slab under shower to repair drain leak. Now I want to treat the open area in slab under the shower for long term protection before I repair sheet rock. Treated area will be resealed behind sheet rock, under shower base and is not accessible unless wall is again cut, which I would prefer not to do for a long time. Also, will there be a noticeable odor from area, even thought sheet rock walls will be sealed and area is under fiberglass shower stall?

    You can treat with Termidor under the shower if you are treating the soil. If you are treating the slab or any wood that is under the shower it should be treated with Boracare. Termidor does not have a strong odor so any odor left after the treatment should be gone pretty quickly.

    Is Termidor affected by herbicides/weed killers that I would use in the flower bed next to my house?
    I need to kill the weeds in my flower beds but I'm afraid to apply any killer in liquid or granule form because I don't know if it will negatively affect my Termidor treatment I had done a year ago.

    We don't think the herbicides will be a problem with the Termidor. The problem will be if plants are growing through that barrier treatment and disturbing the barrier that was put into place.

    Hand-held sprayer vs commercial one when applying Termidor SC?
    Should I be worried if I use a hand-held sprayer vs ask a pest control company to inject Termidor into the concrete slabs? Plus how would I keep track to make sure 0.4 gallon per hole is poured in?

    To apply Termidor in the slabs you want to drill holes 18in deep and 12 in. apart and disperse the 4 gallons mixed solution per 10 feet into those holes. You can use any type of sprayer to inject the solution into the slab. The B&G Accuspary with termite injection tip would be very helpful when injecting the solution into the slabs.

    We are building a new house and want to do our own pest control, what is the best product to use?
    We would like to do our own pest control for new construction and want to prep the ground before hand and then control pests ongoing while the construction is going on. We are searching for the best pest control product to do this.

    If you want to pre-treat before the slab is pured to control termites, Termidor SC would be the product of choice. Pre-slab and barrier treatments can last for up to 10 years for subterranean termite control.  For general pest control around the inside of and the outside of the house can be done with Talstar P. It is widely used by pest control companies because it is labeled for almost every insect you could have a problem with and you can use it outside the home as well as inside, it is odorless and very safe for use around children and pets.  It is a liquid concentrate that you mix with water in a one gallon hand pump sprayer.  It will last for 60 to 90 days outside in between treatments.  It is also labeled for lawn and ornamental use, and can be used on trees, plants, bushes and shrubs for all sorts of ornamental pests including Japanese beetles, mosquitoes, and other leaf eating pests.
