Termidor SC is a great option for fire ants inside of a tree. There are two options that you have when applying this product. It can either be done as a drench around the tree or you will inject the product directly into the termite cartons. The rate is 0.8 fl oz per gallon of water.
Please check out the Supplemental Document that explains how to do treatments.
To apply Termidor SC to a home with a pier and beam foundation, you will need to trench around each pier. You will need to trench around any point where a support for the home touches the home. If the piers are hollow blocks you also have to drill a hole in each pier to treat the inside space where termites could potentially travel up without hitting the treated soil around the pier.
While you can use Termidor SC to treat voids in your subfloor, we would recommend to use Boracare instead because it can be applied to raw wood, be absorbed and last the lifetime of the wood. You can use Termidor SC in your crawl space if there's soil, you can trench around the piers to protect your home.
The shelf life of Termidor SC is generally 3-5 years if kept sealed and stored in a cool, dry place.
Termidor SC can be used for small spot treatments indoors if you know exactly where the termite infestation is and can treat it directly. If you are unsure of where the infestation is and would like to treat indoors, Phantom Termiticide would be a good option.
Sometimes the ground is slow to soak up the Termidor SC you place in the holes. You may need to fill the holes, then go work on something else for an hour, come back and fill them again, go work on something else.....3 to 4 times to get the proper amount down the holes.
"Not a knock down product" means that Termidor SC will not kill wasps or other pests immediately on contact. Termidor does not give a fast knockdown but it does transfer back to the nest to eliminate the other wasps inside the nest. You should see complete results within 1-3 weeks depending on the size of the wasp colony when using Termidor. Termite prevention with Termidor SC is a completely different application, however. It would be a good idea for you to take a look over our Termite Prevention Guide to see the options and the steps involved.
Termidor SC is not labeled to be used inside except for spot treating active infestations. If applied as a crack and crevice spray inside cabinets it would be recommended to thoroughly clean the area with warm soap and water or an all-purpose surface cleaner.
Termidor SC is what we call a non-repellent, which means the insects - in this case, ants - do not detect the application, plus the active ingredient kills slowly enough that the ants do not die until they've had time to pass along the active ingredient to all the other ants they contact during their regular activities. If you apply Termidor SC as directed, then any ant colonies that contact that barrier will be killed. If you are already seeing trails of ants inside your home, then we would recommend using products like those in our Indoor Ant Kit to insure those colonies are taken care of, as well. Our Ant Treatment Guide has additional tips for treating this nuisance pest.
We apologize, but Termidor SC cannot be shipped to New York.
Termidor SC is only labeled to be used up against a structure and not for any type of lawn application. We would recommend a product like Cyzmic CS. Cyzmic CS is a water-based insecticide concentrate that provides excellent control of dozens of insect pests in a powerful micro-encapsulated formulation with long-lasting control and little to no odor.
Unfortunately, Termidor SC is not labeled to be used in a tree application. Only up against a structure. If you need a product that can be used around trees we would recommend using a product like Dominion 2L Termiticide Concentrate which can be used in this type of application.
Termidor SC should have no effect on plants that are inadvertently sprayed with the product. It is important to read and follow the Termidor SC product label which states that you can only treat one foot up from and one foot out from where the ground meets the structure. The label also recommends that you remove or prune away plants, shrubs or tree branches that touch the structure. Vegetation that comes into contact with the structure may offer a route of entry for the ants allowing them to enter the structure without ever having come into contact with the treated area.
You will want to give adequate time for the herbicide to dry and absorb into the plants you are treating with it before using another product over top. This will help to make sure there are no compatibility issues between the two products as well as to ensure the insecticide application does not wash away any of the herbicide you applied. Termidor SC should be applied only to the ground 1 foot out from the foundation and 1 foot up onto the structure.
No, there is no need to mix Termidor SC with an IGR. This product is a non-repellent and insects do not know they are coming in contact with it. This is how it is spread throughout the colony.
Termidor SC is not labeled for root aphids. If you can let us know where you will be treating, we can recommend an alternative for you.
Termidor SC is better than Talstar as it promotes a transfer kill eradicate the colony and will last for up to ten years in the soil. Please see our Termite Guide. The Square footage is not important in a trench treatment. Linear feet is most important. One 20oz bottle will cover 60 linear feet of trenching.
When applying Termidor SC to a home with a raised foundation, you would trench around the outside of the foundation and around each pier/post under the crawlspace. Everywhere you dig you will follow the method of digging a 6x6 trench and use 4 gallons to every 10 linear feet. Termidor needs to be trenched in order for it to be effective and cannot just be poured onto the ground.
Termidor SC cannot be used inside for general spraying. It is only to be used for spot treating active infestations in wall voids, wood, etc. where it would not be applied in areas of exposure, per the manufacturers instructions on the product label.
Termidor SC is not labeled for mosquitoes nor can you use it on plants which is key when treating for them. Talstar P would be a better option, be sure to apply to the underside of leaves of trees and bushes where adults lay during the day and if needed on the lawn for further control.
