  • Asked by Jennifer from Ceres
    04/15/2021
    Q
If Termidor SC was in the root zone, will the fruit ever be ok to eat?
    A

As long as your fruit tree is not directly sprayed with the Termidor SC or so close to the treatment area that runoff or overspray comes in contact with the fruit, Termidor is safe to use and is not a systemic (not absorbed by the roots).  General rule of thumb is that you should keep Termidor treatments at least 10 feet away from any edible vegetation and you should discard anything that may be contaminated with a direct spray.

  • Asked by Karl from Edgewater, Md
    04/27/2021
    Q
Could I pour Termidor SC onto the ground above and around?
If I know where the colony is located.
    A

Termidor SC can only be applied around the foundation of a structure. It is not labeled for areas away from the structure. Termites will stay below the soil and can have multiple colonies on the property. Termites are actually beneficial insects and in a setting out in your yard they are great to have around to keep everything in balance. If you feel you must kill them though, you can drench the soil with a general insecticide like Talstar P as directed.

  • Asked by Lisa from Blairsville, Ga
    04/28/2021
    Q
Do I cover the entire area (48'x36) with Termidor SC before pouring a foundation to a new building that is 1728 sq ft? How many gallons would I need?
    A

Yes, you will need to use one gallon of mixed solution of Termidor SC (0.8 fl oz per gallon of water) per 10 square feet. Take the total square footage you need to treat, divide the square footage by 10 then multiply by 0.8 to get the total amount of Termidor SC you will need for the area. If treating 1728 sq ft, that would come to 172.8 10 sq ft sections and you would need 138.24 fl oz of Termidor SC.

  • Asked by Kathleen. from Kaneohe
    05/04/2021
    Q
My craw space is not that high off the ground can I pour Termidor on top the soil without digging a trench?
    A
Unfortunately, if you are treating for termites, then pouring a product such as Termidor SC on the soil in the crawl space will not be a sufficient application to treat for termites. If there are live termites currently in the space, then you could use Termidor SC to spot treat where the colony is, but otherwise the only other application would be either in a trench or injected into the soil in that area.

  • Asked by Travis from Fl

    Q
How far will one bottle of Termidor SC cover?
    A

Termidor SC will cover 60 lineal feet per 20 oz bottle for trenching and drilling for subterranean termite control against the foundation. This is not a wood treatment product. If applying twice per year for crawling insects around the structure (1 ft up and 1 ft out), you will apply 0.8 fl oz per gallon.

    05/19/2021
    Q
How often do you need to redo a Termidor SC or Termidor 80WG in-ground treatment?
Our 14-unit slab development had a Termidor SC or Termidor 80WG in-ground treatment in early June 2015. Approximately how often should the in-ground treatment be redone? We are not sure exactly which product was used, but assume it was one of these 2 since both were launched in 2015. They did a perimeter in-ground treatment around each of our three building slabs.
    A

Termidor SC has a residual of 10 years when applied as a termite trench treatment. If active termite colonies are observed after the trench treatment has been done, spot treatments with a 1 gallon mixed solution of Termidor SC or Termidor Foam is recommended. Drill into the wall void or area where suspected termite colony is located and inject the liquid solution or foam into the wall void.

    Q
How long after perimeter treatment with Termidor SC should you wait to run AC?
How long should you wait to turn on central air and or a wall unit air conditioner after perimeter treatment with Termidor SC? Additionally how long should you wait to return to sleeping in bedrooms that are below ground after perimeter treatment?
    A

We recommend waiting until the Termidor SC treated areas have dried before turning on the units. As long as non of the application seeped inside, you can use the rooms as usual after the application.

  • Asked by Michael from Greensboro
    12/21/2021
    Q
After the wood is soaked in Termidor SC and inserted in the ground around structures, will it be effective for killing termites that take it back to the colony?
    A

Termidor SC does not penetrate into the wood at all.  It will only sit on the surface of the wood and is best applied in a trench around the home for termite protection.  It will transfer back to the colony by those that go through the treated soil. We have a step by step guide that will walk you through how to do your own termite trenching treatment. You can see the guide by clicking on the link here.

  • Asked by Per from Spotswood, Nj
    03/16/2022
    Q
When applied as trench treatment at the foundation, is Termidor SC toxic to bees/pollinators on flowering plants close to the foundation?
If so, is this toxic for the 10 years the soil barrier treatment remains in the soil? Should I place a barrier in the soil around the plant to separate the soil from the application?
    A

Termidor SC should not be applied directly to any foliage, including flowering plants. If you are concerned about ornamental plants being affected by Termidor SC when trenching, this product contains Fipronil which is not a systemic insecticide and would really not be absorbed by plants.

Per the manufacturer, if fipronil were to get into plants, it can partially breakdown reducing any risk of translocating. The active is formulated to last up to 10 years in the soil because it binds with it when applied correctly.

Please refer to the product label for complete application instructions.

    Q
If applying Termidor SC to the foundation and ground around my home for carpenter ants, is this going to affect the groundwater and my well water?
I would be using Termidor for carpenter ants on the foundation and ground out from the house, so would not be trenching. Is this going to affect the ground water and my well? Also, I have fig trees near my house. Is spraying the foundation going to affect my fig trees?
    A

When treating the exterior perimeter foundation with Termidor SC Termiticide/Insecticide, do not spray more than 1 ft out from the foundation and keep applications atleast 5ft away from wells and out of the root zone of any fruit trees as directed on the product label.

    Q
How long do I need to to wait after application of Ortho Home defense?
I need to eradicate infestation of carpenter ants. Can I use it shortly after using Ortho home defense in same areas?
    A

We recommend you keep applications of Termidor SC Termiticide/Insecticide about 30 days apart from applications of a pyrethroid. Doing so sooner may impact effiancy.
