    Q
drilling every 10 to 12 inches in concrete doesnt this create a weak spot in your slab or a breaking point?
    A
The 10 -12 inches spacing is the required amount to ensure that the drilling will not cause weakness in the concrete slab. You do not want to drill any more than 1/2 inch wide.

    Q
What would be the best product and approach to use for an ongoing ant problem?
We are in Florida for the winter months. We arrived back early Dec this year and have had a continuous ant problem every since. I have never seen anything like this before and I've been coming down for 10 yrs. The ants are in every single area of the house, on the table, counter tops, bathroom counter etc...lots of ants. I even had pest control come in and spray once, but didn't seem to help at all so gave up on that. I'm leaving to go back to Wi soon and am wondering if I leave enough of the right poison out, if maybe it will help while I'm gone. Any suggestions? Thanks
    A
Termidor SC would work fantastic to put a barrier up outdoors.
Termidor is the # 1 choice for ant control around the home. Termidor is a non-repellent insecticide that works with a delayed reaction amd also has a transfer effect. That means that ants cannot tell that the Termidor is there and will walk right over it and then pick the product up on their bodies and inadvertently carry it back to the colony, then through normal social interaction the ants spread the Termidor and wipe out the colony. Termidor only needs to be applied two times per year and is effective for a wide variety of insects including ants, centipedes, roaches, spiders, silverfish, wasps and many other nuisance insects. You will need to apply Termidor SC 1-2 ft up the foundation and 1-2 ft out onto the ground, around door frames, window frames, places where cables, pipes or wires go through the wall and any other crack or crevice where the ants can gain entry into your home. Indoors you can use Phantom to treat cracks and crevices.

    Q
I was hoping to get some facts on pesticides being used at my home & the safety for small children and fetuses.
I recently read an article suggesting a link between pesticides and autism. The evidence was weak, but I was hoping to get some facts on pesticides being used at my home and the safety for small children and fetuses. The pesticides used are Delta Dust, Cy-Kick CS, Mother Earth Granular scatter bait, and Termidor SC. We are never present during application. Are these safe for home use around children/pregnant women?
    A

We understand your concerns and are happy to address them. Delta Dust is placed inside the wall voids so this is inaccessible to children and adults as well. Cy-Kick CS is safe once it is dry. Children should be kept out of the area that MotherEarth Granular Scatter Bait  is placed until the application is complete. Termidor SC should only be used outdoors unless there is an active termite infestation indoors and you are applying it directly to the infested area. This is another product that children should be kept out of the area while it is being applied.

These products are safe to use around your home if they are being used correctly. We recommend always following the labels on products and taking the necessary precautions.

    Q
Spraying the whole house for bed bugs, can you spray over 2-3 days? Or one day tx? Small infestation...
Found bed bug nest in one bdrm a month ago. Sprayed with Pyrethin, clean and vacuum everyday, have found less than 24 since. Ordered Temprid SC, Fenvastar, Phantom, SteriFab, and Gentrol IGR from you. Almost have everything in bags, but have no room to put bags out of the way, where do you put the clothes and linens and everything you move to spray? I have thrown away things, washed and dried everything I have. Still have bags of clean clothes in back yard basking in sun, afraid to bring them in and no where to put if I did. Im going crazy. Washing, packing, cleaning, staying up all night to find bugs and have only found 2 in 2 weeks and that was in a bathroom. I have tore apart the 3 bdrms at least 2x each. (the orginal bdrm is now isolated, by tape, dust, caulk, etc). Outside of that room I have found one bug on me...(after cleaning), 4 in the adjoining bathroom, and one in living room, after disposing of mattress, and none in the adjoining bdrms. We have used CO2 traps and cardboard sticky traps and nothing outside of that room. We are a little over 4 weeks into this process. Can I spray one room at a time? or 2 rooms, one night and then the rest the next? Or must I do the whole house at once? I want the bugs gone but feel by myself I cannot do it all in one night. I need help in Texas. Will start spraying tonight.
    A
It really sounds like you have a good hold on this Bed bug treatment. You really want to try and get the whole treatment finished in one day. This will lessen the risk of Beds Bugs getting through any untreated areas. We also sell Nuvan Pro Strips which work wonders on items that are sealed up in bins or bags. Keep up the good work!

    Q
Can I mix Talstar and Termidor together @ gallon doses?
    A
No, Talstar P and Termidor SC should NOT be tank mixed. Termidor SC can only be applied outdoors. Talstar P can be applied to indoor cracks and crevices and outdoors. If mixed together they will be ineffective as Termidor SC is a non-repellent. We are unsure what you are treating for so please provide additional information so that we can offer you more information.

    Q
Termites are eating the hard wood trees and palm trees in my yard. Can I treat the soil around the trees with out harming them?
    A
Termites do not normally attack live, healthy trees so you most likely will not find any products that will work as a ground barrier around the trees.  Most people are primarily concerned with protecting the big investment, their home, and Termidor SC would be the product to use for that.  It is only labeled to be used adjacent to the structure though.  Please take a moment to read over our article on "How to do a Termite Treatment" for complete details.

    Q
Can I drill holes at six inches apart instead of 12 inches and just cut in half the .4 oz dose?
In my mind it seems like more continuous coverage(saturation)
    A
We recommend to mix .8 oz Termidor per gallon of water. We cannot advise to cut the mizing ratio in half. This could jeapordize the effectiveness of the products. You can drill every 6in, but we cannot recommend to cut down the mizing ratio.

    Q
i have 2 inactive termite tunnels can spray or have to drill. 1in crawl space& garage.
1company want to drill put in ground crawl space &garage;&one; company wants to spray.the spray is affordable. the drilling is very high but want to work.
    A

We recommend doing a complete Termite Barrier Treatment if you are seeing signs of termite activity. Using Termidor SC will give you a 10 year barrier treatment against subterreanean termites. Termidor SC is applied in a trench and in drilled holes directly around all sides of the structure. It will take approx. 90 days to kill any active colonies depending on their size. You can apply Termidor Foam in the wall voids in the sheet rock to spot treat activity. Where there is concrete you will need to drill directly into the slab. This includes patios and garages. Please read the article below for more information on treating termites.

    Q
Treating around perforated tiled and white rocked perimeter.
As we were building our house about 3 years ago, the inspector suggested that we add a second perforated tile (there was already a French Drain 7-8ft deeper at the walk-out basement floor height) right next to the foundation just below the surface (4-12") and fill the whole area with white rock. I really don't want to dig all of this up to apply the Termidor. Can I just trench down into the white rock a few inches and apply the Termidor next to the foundation as usual or do I need to get all the way down to the dirt? If the Termidor worked it way into the perf tile, would it still be effective? The construction is 12" filled block on a mono-slab and there is about 8" of block exposed before any wood, so I think I would see any tunnels if termites were in the area.
    A
Termidor SC is made to bind to soil molecules. When Termidor SC is put in the ground as a soil treatment, it will last for at least 10 years. Although, it is a little different when it is applied to porous surfaces such as rocks. Porous surfaces will actually absorbe the active ingredient meaning that it would only last a few months. Therefore, we would recommend that you remove the rocks and be sure to treat the soil below according to the label instructions.

    Q
I get my drinking water from my well. I own a manufactured home and is Termidor SC safe to use?
    A
Do not apply Termidor SC within 5 feet of a well or cistern. Treatment within 5 to 10 feet of a well or cistern must be done by backfill method only (removing the dirt to be treated and replacing it after it has been treated elsewhere or in a container such as a wheelbarrow).

    Q
Can Termidor SC be used indoor for roaches, and is it safe for my dogs?
    A
No, Termidor SC should not be applied indoors at all. It is an exterior treatment product only. We do carry Roach Control Kits that are very effective in controlling this type of insect indoors and/or outside. Any of the products mentioned should be applied in the labeled areas when the animals are not in the area until completely dried.

    Q
I need 4 to 6 bottles of Termidor. How many to a case and is there a case lot discount?
Besides treating foundation perimeter, have signs of termite activity in two areas of open soil, 9'x18' and 15'x15' where lumber was left on ground. What is recommended to treat those areas? And what quantity?
    A

There are 4 bottles to a case of Termidor SC. For this particular product there is not a lot discount available but we do offer fast, free shipping! We apologize for any inconvenience. Termidor SC is labeled to treat carton nests only away from the structure. The trench and drilling up against the foundation of the structure is very important. Please refer to our termite treatment article for additional helpful information on mixing and application.

    Q
Do you treat a pier and beam house any differently?
My house is pier and beam. Hence there is dirt under the entire house. (ie we have back steps running along 80% of the back of the house... do I trench at the base of the steps or get under the house and luxuriate as I trench in a 2 foot crawl space?)
    A
To treat pier and beam you would trench around the piers and beams and apply termidor. You would also trench in the crawl space. Please see our article on barrier treatments.

    Q
    drain board
My foundation has "dimple drain board" in this case W.R. Meadows "Mel Drain." It would seem that the treatment would run down the drain to the drain tile. How do you suggest I treat without this happening?
    A
When applying Termidor SC, it is recommened to wait till it has not rained for 24 hours before application and will not rain for 24 hrs after application. If Termidor SC has been able to dry for 24 hours it has had plenty of time to bond to the soil and would not go through fabric and into the drainage channel. Please contact us directly Mon-Fri 9am-5pm EST if you have any further questions.
